Hello,
I am experiencing repeated Fenris crash-to-desktop issues in Diablo IV. The crashes happen during active gameplay, especially after teleporting, zone changes, moving toward Helltide events, and during dungeon-related content. This makes the game barely playable because I can lose access/progress with high-value dungeon keys and rare materials.
Current game build:
Diablo IV 3.1.0.72810
System:
Windows 11 64-bit
Intel Core i9-13900K
NVIDIA RTX 4090
32 GB DDR5
Samsung 980 PRO NVMe SSD
MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk WiFi
Other games such as Path of Exile 2 are stable for long sessions. No BSODs, no full system reboots.
Already tried:
- Clean reinstall of Diablo IV
- Clean reinstall / repair of Battle.net
- Fresh Documents\Diablo IV configuration folder
- Battle.net cache cleared
- High-Resolution Assets not installed
- G DATA antivirus exceptions added for Diablo IV and Battle.net
- NVIDIA driver clean reinstall with DDU
- Updated BIOS / system drivers
- Stable Intel power limits
- RAM reduced to 2 sticks in A2/B2
- DLSS off
- Frame Generation off
- NVIDIA Reflex off
- Raytracing off
- FPS capped
- Texture quality reduced
- Forum workaround -disableds added to Battle.net command line
The FenrisDebug logs confirm:
Command Line: -disableds -nostreamline -sso -launch -uid fenris
DirectStorage: Disabled
GPU used: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090
Raytracing: disabled
The workaround from the Blue Post does not resolve the issue. Recent FenrisDebug logs still show repeated ACCESS_VIOLATION / Fenris crashes, sometimes in Diablo IV.exe and sometimes KERNELBASE.dll / unknown module. The logs also show high Diablo IV process memory usage and fragmented main heap before crashes, while GPU memory is not exhausted.
This appears related to Diablo IV / Fenris / memory or asset streaming during teleport, loading, Helltide, and dungeon content.
I can provide multiple FenrisDebug logs and report IDs if needed.
