Abilities

Level Skill Priority Note
4 - 19 Rend > HS
20 - 21 Rend > SA until 70% HP > HS Pool rage for next fight, only HS if about to cap
22 - 25 Rend > SA until 50% HP > HS
26 - 35 Rend > SA until 50% HP > HmS HmS fishing beats HS around your first big weapon upgrade (Hydra, Corpsemaker)
36 - 39 SA until 85% HP > WW From now on, only Rend if fight >15 sec
40 - 45 MS > WW Only SA if your first auto missed and target is still 100% HP
46 - 57 SA until 80% > MS > WW Never use Rend anymore past this point
58 - 60 SA until 55% > MS > WW

:arrow_forward: Rend is pretty much always your best DPR (Damage Per Rage) ability but the higher the ranks, the longer it needs to be up on a target to reach full value. This becomes a bit problematic as you level up and fights become shorter, up to the point where Rend barely has time to tick for half its duration and is not worth using anymore. This usually happens around lvl 36-40 when you gain access to very strong DPR abilities such as WW and MS.

:arrow_forward: Heroic Strike (HS) on the other hand is a terrible ability that not only does very poor damage for its rage cost but also replaces your next auto-attack, which further increases its rage cost. It stays relevant until lvl 20-22, at which point a new rank of Sunder Armor plus access to Improved Overpower take priority over it. Only use HS when you are about to cap and really need to dump some rage.

:arrow_forward: Sunder Armor (SA), while it doesn’t do any damage on application, contributes to your damage by reducing the Effective Health of your target. As a result, you do more damage and generate more rage that you can use to apply more SA. The effectiveness of SA scales on the remaining Time To Live (TTL) of the target. The earlier you apply a stack of SA, the more damage you will gain from it. This is the reason why you want to start stacking SA right after you apply Rend and also why we only recommend using SA up to a certain health threshold, below which it is usually best to pool your rage in preparation for your next target.

:arrow_forward: SA, as well as Hamstring (HmS), have the added benefit of being extra attacks at a low rage cost. The more you attack, the more occasions to be dodged and trigger an Overpower (OP) attack. OP is your most DPR efficient attack by a long shot, moreso with Improved OP and should be your #1 priority at all times from lvl 12 to 60.

:arrow_forward: Starting from lvl 36, the addition of Whirlwind (WW) to your kit knocks Rend out of the priority list because it greatly reduces the length of your encounters. However, SA is still a better DPR ability at the very begining of a fight so you want to apply a couple stacks until the threshold before using WW, which will benefit from the stacks as well.

:arrow_forward: Starting from lvl 40 and until a new rank of SA, Mortal Strike (MS) becomes your new highest priority ability, with a DPR higher than SA all throughout the fight. If you have spare rage while using MS as much as possible, dump some with WW but try to manage your rage to always have 30 when MS is about to be ready again.

:arrow_forward: At lvl 46 and lvl 58, new ranks of SA bring it back into the mix with a DPR higher than MS this time. As a result, you want to prioritize stacking SA up to the threshold, before dumping any extra rage with MS.
