I know its 2025 and everyone thinks my teenager should HAVE to carry a cell phone but…he does not. I give him my old pixel 6 pro phone to download discord with to call me. I’m not about to pay another monthly bill so he can use discord with his friends or messenger to make calls. Phone service being required to play Overwatch2 is insanely archaic IMO. He has tons of unlocked items on his account (well…he DID UNTIL he got his PC and made a battle.net and merged them…now he has NOTHING…still working on fixing that…wth) and he wants to play on his PC that he got now with me. I’ve been playing Overwatch since it was beta 1. I do have my phone number on my account and I am told once its on there it can no longer be moved to another account even if it is an account that didnt require a phone number (since its so old)
My wife has her account issues too since she was gone so long she no longer has access to her account and the phone number was on an account before so it cannot be used either. She was trying to come back with me for WoW again since the kids are finally older and we both can sit down and have fun now. Its been years and these phone numbers are LOCKED IN, not to be used on other accounts.
We arent about to pay for another phone service just so he can play Overwatch2 with me on his pc, and i also think this will become an issue when I want to play WoW with him (finding out today).
Lets be real, there is already people out there doing workarounds with apps for other phone numbers for smurf accounts and people out there hacking. I just want to have fun playing in the games without those people with my kids. Shall I submit photos of us both playing on ps4 and pc?! Wait…people can just do ai photos now, sigh.
Like…i dont want to give you my kids social but what other unique way is there for people without a phone.
