By your logic, it’s highly probable that one could roll 1000x1 in a row with a dice with even odds, as it happens with D2 players quite often.
yes, theoretically is possible. Practically, when 100 people do that roll dice example the changes that 70 of them get every day for 30 days, 100 rolls/ day as only numbers 1-3 is so improbable as earth to colapse in a black hole next 3 days, so no, practically is not possible.
There have been changes, though. Some small ones: gambling is viable now, some gear combinations that relied on strength bug don’t work. But the huge one is the IAS cap removal, which has allowed at least three totally new IAS stacking builds: fireclaw, kicksin, and bowazon. I agree that the official forums could have more of them and less of “why don’t 500d100000 rolls work exactly the same as 2d6 rolls??? checkmate Blizzard” posts.
Let me explain shortly how loot works in diablo. You kill a monster. Each monster has a loot table(meaning what items he can drop and the probability which differs from monster to monster). Monster dies…a virtual die is thrown…and it picks the base of the item it will drop…than another die throw to pick the rarity(white/magic/rare/set/unique) and so on. Not that simple, but that is the core of it.
What if you always kill the same monster and only that monster and always get the same drop, in this example cathan ring.
That’s a fixed algorithm and not rng based.
I beg to disagree. That monster has a high chance of dropping the Ring ‘base’. You get lucky enough to roll up to Set rarity, but not a good enough to roll Unique rarity. Having in mind that there are 3(?) set rings in the game compared to unique rings that are about 8-9 each with a certain chance out of 59…you have basically a 33.3% chance of getting a Cathan when rolling ring base and Set rarity. Hope this clears things a little. For example if you roll the diadem base…and than Unique rarity you will always get a Griffon .Cheers.
I just found Rite of Passage 4x in a row from Andariel, is that RNG?
is not, the algorithm behind is clearly bugged in a way or another. lot of players saw that behavior you mention and also myself, e.g. got 20-30 runes drop consecutively as Ort.
Of course. You rolled demonhide boots base…than set rarity…if you would’ve rolled for unique…you would’ve got infernostride.
I reccomend using a loot probability calculator like Silospen(no links allowed), so you can see the chances of an item dropiing from a certain monster, taking in account number of players, mf, etc
With 0% MF, Hell Andariel has a 1:71 chance to drop Cathan’s Seal. That means that 1 out of every 71 players will get it on their first kill. 1 out of every 71^2 = 5041 players will get it on their first kill AND their second kill. 1 out of every 35k players will get it their first THREE drops.
Now consider +magic find, and that there are many equally common items, and it should be obvious that drop streaks will happen all the time. If drops behave exactly the way we expect random drops to behave, how is this evidence that they’re not random?
Dudes…at the core this is a 2001 game…FFS, this is how loot works. You can search online for all the loot tables. Do a little research. It is quite a primitive way to allocate loot, but one completely ‘fair’. I know it is hard to accept the lack of luck. It’s only human. Nobody is blaming you for that. I truly and sincerely want you to really understand how simple the loot system is. The reason that modern ARPGs don’t have this system is exactly because this may seem an unfair system than will alienate players. But please also understand this is one of the reasons we love this game. We gamble our time, instead of our money for shiny pixels and imaginary gear for our grownup action figures. This is no more than a more interactive slot machine, with wizards, sword, gore, blood , a shower of Bers and Andriel’s tits. No conspiracies…no secret algorithms.
It feels like your mathematical approach towards looks similar to the mathematical approach towards the covid pandemic. The more data provided to disprove, the less data provided to prove.
You never investigated the D2:R Random Number Generator yet you claim you know how it works refering to 20 year old documentation from it’s predecessor. There’s no valid documentation on how the algorythm works now.
The number generator isn’t random and it is fixed based on ip’s, pools and data and that’s the only reason why alot of players are finding the same items multiple times on a day.
Edit: Before you start about having a tinfoil hat on, you should educate yourself about security and find out a tinfoil hate is the basic requirement.
In B4 you started the tinfoil hat comment, check the timestamps.
But why!? Why do all this extra effort? What’s the end game? Please enlighten me.
And for the love of God(pick one) don’t bring in discussion such subjects on a game forum. It’s beyond disturbing. And sorry about the tinfoil part
Please more details what happens when you find a maras und more details pls why a maras drop causes more negative consequences then a griffons drop! Tell me more about the algorithm even if it´s complex. What is the source of your knowledge?
I am far from being an expert at the core mechanics of this game. I might not be the right person to offer you insight regarding this. But I am sure you are a google search away from finding the answers you seek! Good luck!
I have no idea about why and how one would implement an rng algorythm and alter it to call it random. I can only refer to the Amazon algorythm causing League of Legends players to play in the same category bases on the player behaviour.
It’s not random, it’s fixed.
Wow )) You keep generating more and more BS Amazing ))
This is machine learning already. Is it a just comparison? Why would this be implemented for the remake of a 20years game? I think they have more important things to deal with than such complicated ‘algorithms’. My 2 cents.
Because the Amazone one is world wide present, famous and effective in some ways.
- You will only be rewarded if you behave well.
- If you don’t behave well, you will have no rewards
- Spam messages with coupons that continue unpunished, making sure the unrewarded and punished players will purchase
- Profit
Edit: 5. You can buy Diablo services and items on Amazon.
This is considered as promoting yet it will most likely not get deleted, proving my point.
