The point is, my suggestion was not to have teleport because of mobility. I for example like the druid even without the teleport. My intention is to even out the differences in amount of farm per time. This solution with MF push with elite kills can be done without enabling teleport for everyone and still get the results I want.
Again, my main point that with cheap +tele gear will be no alternative to wear to any no-tele-class, its too way OP. It will break the game. It’s not about farming, it’s about everything else too, completing the game on hell for example. Skipping mobs that you don’t like, etc.
And again, after you get +tele gear playstyle will be almost the same to all chars. every char will focus on getting fcr and mana for tele, and Insight on merc for mana regen.
So if you really like the playstyle of various characters, what pros and cons they have, why you even suggest that cheap enigma alternative in the first place?
I know why. You just want to game be more easier to play.
But guess what, many people still what that “Classic gameplay—the same Diablo II you know and love, preserved.” designed by developers. So no, no cheap enigma for you.
Don’t forget to suggest GRifts next time, and ask for increased drops, to complete d2r transformation to d3.
Sounds good but I’m thinking about it and I came with this.
It has to be changed separately for LoD and for the Classic version because there is a difference in item drop. I mean that in LoD are more items that can be found than in Classic. So probably they need to implement your idea two times? Am I thinking right?
And the second thing: IF you face immunities to your dmg choice what then? You will just skip those elites because it will be time-consuming and farming won’t be so efficient anymore.
Grifts of D3 are incredibly boring, since they do not offer any real new challenge when you go to a higher difficulty. They are in the end the same and you beat them the same way whether do them on level 15 or 110, Just the item check changes and monsters take bit longer to kill and do more damage.
They offer no new challenges or need serious rebuild of your character after a certain point, that is the overall weakness of D3 and in a way Enigma and other runewords added that weakness to D2 as well. Where due to the time this game has not changed any of its challenges for a long long time, us player base is way too well aware what works and could even write bots for it to farm most efficiently.
That is why I would hate to see scalable Grifts added to D2, but on other hands, dungeons, maybe one per act that after you killed Bhaal on Hell, that offer a completely new challenges that change every ladder with possibly insane rewards if manage to defeat all 5 solo or in group, where devs go completely sadistic and no build built on one or two skills can win would be interesting and change the game up, back to what it was intended to be.
That could be a problem yes, but one for the devs.
The second is exactly what I want. I do want to shake up current meta a bit and force people to diversify their skills a little in line with original idea behind immunities and make passing up a challenge by jumping past it cost you. It might even need a few more synergies added in the end from devs to enable that.
The idea though is that those challenges offered by those 5 dungeons will be sadistic and go against current meta and builds also having the requirement you kill every monster in the dungeon to pass it. (so not one you can brute force as a hammerdin with enigma killing a boss without using other skills as well) whatever they may be at that time, but that the reward will be also clear and tempting. I would not even mind if each dungeon would necessitate you as a player to partly have to respec your build to succeed and without making respeccing any easier. Like I said sadistic.
Maybe the option to make your char reach lvl 100 in ladder for example besides some dungeons exclusive drops that are account bound or even char exclusive bound that could be even more just a transmogrify like a banner you can display as really powerful, only for those who beat all 5 super act dungeons. This only goes for the char you did the challenge with of course and not all others.
You dont want everyone to play sorc as startertoon so you wanna give everyone teleport.
What will you do when everyone plays paladin because they are the new meta since teleport? Give everyone smite and hammers?
The min/max issue isnt a problem with the game, its a mentality problem with the players.
I predict that in a couple of weeks or a month you will have everything in the game with perfect rolls, and then you will make a new post about how there is not enough content.
You are ruining the game for yourself with this racing to the finishline, its not a competitive game YOU have to make it fun in the long run.
Also alot toons can do runs just as fast or faster than sorc, it just wont be mephisto. Javazon with high RW will do laps around a sorc in cowlevel since their killspeed is so much faster. Asn/necro can blow up pindle instantly etc etc. Warrior is probably #1 MFer because of hork, and can 1-2shot Pindle even with mediocre gear while his minions are running away in fear.
And on the higher end a paladin with just 1point in smite can deal with ubers better than any sorcspec.
Seasoned players will start setting challenges for themselves on new characters just to keep the game fresh. Like finish hell naked or using a weak skill or whatever.
There is plenty of time to kill shit and loot stuff you dont need to teleport to get there on time.
Wow. That would be great! Really. I like this idea because skipping the game to get to a boss is just bad design.
Since I’m playing D2R now i realize: rifts in D3 are pretty nice because players have to kill all types of monsters instead of skipping everything. But in D3 items and skills (and the whole design) are just bad. Hopefully D4 will be a merge of the best of both worlds.
But technically: enigma would still be too powerful and it can not be removed. So … … the only solution would be making infinite teleport (and other skills) accessible in mid game. Just changing all items from “charges of skill xy” to “skill xy” would be a great change.
Anyway … maybe blizzard will add more content to D2R and then all those “don’t touch my D2!!”-cry babies will see that even D2R might be changed.
By the time you farm enigma you’re already basically done the game. It requires so much time to farm that by the time you finish it you log off and stop playing because there’s no longer a reason to play.
Teleport skill is designed to be an enabler. There’s nothing to enable. The game is over. You have every item and there is no end game at all. So in reality Enigma isn’t even really an armor unless you plan to do something like Baal bot.
I wouldn’t give everyone teleport like that, but what does need to happen is giving Necros an ability that repositions their summons. I played offline and granted myself Jah and Ber through cheats once I hit Hell difficulty simply because playing a summoner is so bad when you can’t control your minions whatsoever. I didn’t care about making my farm runs faster, I just wanted to be able to reposition my pets so I could play properly. It gets so much more fun with teleport, and having 23 charges of teleport or whatever on an item doesn’t last very long. If they’d given Necros a “move pets here” ability then I’d never have cheated in offline play.
Then I’m inviting you to Diablo 2 Classic (no expansion). There you will find more fun without problem like enigma and also you will spend more time to find better items. More intensive version of Diablo 2 Classic will be at Hardcore mode.
