It’s a pity after all the work in collecting all the Etheral weapons, they disappear at the end of Season. I hope Blizzard will reconsider.

I hope not. They’re way too overpowered to keep.

Well, both yes and no. Looking at your season DH, you haven’t been lucky with the ethereal drops. I’ve managed to do a GR133 on my DH a couple of hundred paragon points ago. Going a couple of levels higher shouldn’t be too difficult but after that even the great power from the ethereal weapon won’t make it that easy. It’ll start to involve more and more fishing. Likewise my wizard has done a 138 after a few tries, higher than that is going to take more work. A few thousand paragon points more would help of course.

Yet even though that ethereal has useless power and passive and the other gear is mediocre at best, I was able to do GR110 in 5 min before any augments and with little over 1100 paragon. That’s way better performance than in non-season with augments and higher paragon.

They are overpowered, period.

The only bonuses of this season that relate to non-season I can think of is the ability to upgrade gems further than normal, and to augment gear that might be used out of season.

If for example, your Bane of the trapped was difficult to take beyond 130 off season (to quote a random figure) this season should take it to 140 at least, if you’ve come a long way. same with gear augments.

Having gotten all 21 ethereals on all 4 platforms (PC, XBox, PS, Switch)…

On PC, it was more fun to just join ethereal farming games that were locked to L12 and farm with people. For the other platforms, that technique doesn’t work so this vault technique was pretty much the only choice (and a good one).

I did the “remove level requirement” on one of the platforms, but honestly it was easier to just socket it. Yes, you level like crazy, but it is literally 10 seconds to get a brand new character to level 5 (where gems drop from Greed). You then level about 1 level per Greed kill, but you can usually get all of the items in under 5 vault runs and you will still be at most level 10 which is still a good level for the drop tables. If you reach level 10 doing the (5) vault runs, then just take another 10 seconds to create a new character and get to level 5 again.

I’m not exaggerating about the 10 seconds, btw, but that’s just the leveling itself. Add in the create char, set game settings, and equipping it is under a minute from “I need to dump this char” to being ready for the next vault run.

You then have the option to choose a more appropriate weapon for each class if you want, and after it is all done you still have the gem to use to complete the augment task in the season journey (you have to get it to L50, but its easier when you have an L25 starter…)

Note that Demon Hunters are born needing a bow to do anything. If you equip the reduced level requirement dagger they can’t attack at L1 so you need to use something else to get to L2 and get Impale before you can use your RLR dagger. It’s faster to just create any old L70 bow with a socket and you’re off. Remember, you’ll be L5 in 10 seconds so the minutes you need to get through L1 with a starter weapon pale in comparison to making a few bows and socketing a Gem of Ease.

The hardest part about leveling to 5 is not hitting too many monsters. The first hit - 1 monster dies and you are level 2 or 3. Then it takes 2-4 other monsters to get to 5. Head to a map where you can quickly move to where you can see individual monsters - I use The Festering Woods. Creep forward, attack, creep forward, attack, attack, run back to the portal. 10 seconds.

Entire process was:

  1. Create next class char
  2. Game settings: Adv/Normal/Act 1
  3. Illusory boots in cube
  4. grab socketed L70 weapon
  5. Stand next to healer
  6. equip and assign enough points to be tanky and move fast
  7. heal
  8. Visit Festering Woods, hit 3-4 monsters carefully to get to L5
  9. Do around 5 Greed runs, get all 3 eth most (70+%?) of the time, occasionally if L10+ have to repeat above steps which is very fast
  10. put weapon back in stash and delete char

I farmed them all individually for PC, but used this method on console

EU Server
Season 24
Rank 497 (Overall)
Rank 443 (Wrath of the Wastes)
Solo Barbarian
GR130 12 minutes 53 seconds
Paragon 2184
Strength 22290

Clearance screenshot

Associated screenshots (gear, paragon, strength, leaderboard, season records)

That matches my highest ever non-seasonal WW/Rend clearance, but the seasonal clear was done with 2195 less paragon and around 10,000 less Strength. 2nd and 3rd map of the clear were bad maps, and I didn’t have a conduit pylon in the run, so now it’s a case of fishing for a GR131 and upwards, I guess.

Just managed GR120 at 9 min 31 sec with the GoD DH. 10 GRs higher than top non-season clear with almost 1000 paragon less. Tells a lot of the power of the ethereals even though my Buriza had useless passive and power.

I’d say that’s my season goal achieved.

I’m just concentrating, for the rest of the season, on taking to the highest level I can all the gems that will be tranferred over to non-season, to augment gear, and of course the several gems that will get used on ring slots.

If it’s true that ethereals will not be transferred, then its probably a good idea to salvage them for mats & G stones just before the season closes

The farming power of some classes is crazy now. You can do solo 3-minute speeds at GR 110-120 if you have some decent items and a good weapon  probablt even higher for some people.

Monk and Dh in particular excel at this!

That sounds familiar…

Just did a 134 with my DH. Almost two months ago I did a 133 with around 1800 paragons so I figured that 134 or 135 would be a walk in the park with 600 paragon more now. But I got wiser! Had to spend a couple of handfuls of keys and experiment with the best follower (and follower setup). Guess I was lucky with the 133 because with 134 I really needed the maps and the pylons.

With my Firebird Wizard I did a 140. It takes a 143 to get on the leaderboard. But I’ll refrain from trying. The road to 140 was tough enough with horrible elites and champions from almost every pylon! :weary: With the FB Wizard you even have the luxury of using the “all skills” token on follower because of the Enforcer gem.

The rest of the season will just be leveling up gems and getting a few more paragons.

That true. I think I did 135 in less than 5 minutes around a week ago - although it was one of those lucky rifts where you get a convenient shield and power pylon with other emerging elites to whack. It isn’t just the extra affix of a skill or a rune - it’s also the 100% increased power to all the character skills.

I actually use Krede’s flame that emanates, and wyrdward on the follower +Thunderfury instead of the oculus ring. That ring never seems to cast where it’s needed!

Krede’s Flame? Okay… but that restores hatred and is that really needed? I used Enchantress for the 10% elemental increase. She also had Thunderfury, Blind Faith, Cord of Sherma , Powered Shield skill (that reduces some monster move speed and damage) coupled with the Buriza’s freeze chance there should be more than enough CC chance on monsters (perhaps too much).
