At this rate, will there be any players left to even buy the yearly expansion?

Thoughts? Seems like the game is already on life support! Just bad decision after bad decision.

Not really. There is many players still. They stopped playing cause this season was very quick to finish, they all will be back next season sadly.

There are 442.621 average daily players. Not finished at all.

People will probably end up buying it when the hype, and marketing kicks in, but when a game showcases the next season 2 weeks into the current and goes on a 25% off sale less than 60 days after launch it’s not looking good in the long term. They overpromised and under delivered and there competitors are miles ahead with a fraction of the budget and manpower. I don’t blame the developers or the public representatives, it’s the board and the shareholders who pass down the orders at the end of the day. They did have a cheek to post the that game went gold a month before launch and have changed the majority of the mechanics and the systems post launch the game was so unfinished and untested.

Why are you so concerned? Just play the game and have fun.

It is possible to play D4 on your own. I know, shocking right?

Because I have a right to be concerned about a product I’ve paid for? I was one of those BFV players that got shafted after the games support ended early, because it didn’t live up to expectations and players left in droves. Do you want the same thing to happen here?

Relax, there are hundreds of thousands of players and will be for a long time.

I confirm that D4 will only get better and stronger going forward.

The game is already a ghost town. Season 1 was a disaster and season 2 is pretty much the same, from what we know so far. So don’t expect things to be different.

It’s a ghost town because there’s nothing exciting to do, and this yearly expansion announcement is further proof of it. And with this new pricing model, full game is probably going to cost 150$ or more three years from now. Ridiculous and sad at the same time for this once great franchise.

The game is garbage, I would rather play diablo 3.

That’s only because it can’t get any worse than it already is.

I wanted to say this but then I realised which company we are talking about here. If anyone is capable of making a game worse it is Activision Blizzard.

The game is doing fine because the general consumer has no urge control, talking about releasing an expansion for a game that is already boring af after lvl 70 is pure madness and a cash grab

I would prefer the game I paid for to be made more interesting, why would I want to expand on a game I haven’t played in weeks?

Expansion : the action of becoming larger or more extensive.

Knowing blizzard ,its going to be 1 act,2 zones, and 4 ‘‘new’’ copy-pasted dungeons.

At best D4 ‘‘expansion’’ will be minor dlc.

Nothing good can come from blizzard anymore, and to see people hoping it makes me sad.

  • its probably gonna come with 40-50 euros pricetag

While I want to agree, there’s no excuse here.
Feedback was provided since the alphas, and they changed nothing - so no point in making excuses for them.

It wouldn’t really matter even if they were to double-up on the story, at least that’s how I feel.
The core game is outright broken and building on top of it is only going to compound the problems.

At the same time, when a development team receives feedback, they don’t have complete autonomy or authority to go in and start making changes or updates as they see fit, that decision comes from several tiers of management above after meetings usually with the C-Suite members who weigh up the costs, impact on the pre-determined schedule to the benefit overall. Over the years the “Developers” seem to get all the backlash of any games poor decisions or failure, however they only work on what they are instructed to work on, it’s like blaming the cashier/server at McDonalds for your favourite burger being discontinued, it’s an issue way above their pay grade.

I’m aware of what you’re saying, but it’s really not the case here.
We’re talking about lead design and lead devs here - as well as the lead community manager. They’re the ones calling the shots on the direction the game goes, and they’re also the ones coming on-stream to gaslight us.
At most, shareholders and the board have a hand in deadlines - as in rushing the product out.
It is also not a case of me blaming the actual working devs. I’m fully aware how that works.

I agree that the senior’s and lead’s have alot to answer for, and in my opinion most are very young(ish) and not as experienced as I would expect for senior position in a Diablo title, especially the Game Director. With the majority of them coming from an unrelated WoW position before moving to D IV, and admit to playing games casually, to the extent senior dungeon designers struggle to clear dungeons on Tier 1 while being level 50 lol (Due to their profession I assume does not give them alot of time to play recreationally but still. Long gone are the days where the best person was competitivly hired for the jobs requires, it’s all a social criteria checklist meeting exercise now.

However I do notice the community managers soul being eaten at bit by bit every-time he is put in font of a camera to deliver something on a campfire chat, let’s face it we, or at least I would be the same, it’s what pays their bills on matters that are somewhat out of their control, trying not to shoot the messenger.
