Too many disparate looks and themes. Is it an Aztec, is it a shaolin monk, is it an African tribal warrior ? Does it control nature, spirit or the elements? A consistent theming is important and this just looks all over the place.

You know that Sanctuary has nothing todo with the real world, do you?

Of course it does. It is inspired by it. And so far it has had consistent theming when it comes to classes and not a throw a bunch of random ideas at the wall and see what sticks, then gather it up, put it in a bucket and serve it as slop to their customers.

Recently Arrowhead studios’ logo has been gaining popularity - a game for everyone is a game for no one. The same principle applies here - they are trying to mash too many things together. Putting random pieces that do not fit does not result in originality. Instead the jagged edges where the elements do not come together and the clunky arrangement are even more obvious. The problem is exacerbated when you put that many things into one place and fail to provide a consistent theming. Especially when the themes of the individual pieces have already been done better in the same franchise and even in the same game.

We already have a Monk class in the Diablo universe that uses a staff. We also have elementalist and animal/nature classes in the same game - the Sorceress and the Druid. The designers even went out of their way to make the last two even more distinct from one another than they were in the previous games in order to not have overlapping themes. And now this class just waltzes in with its identity disorder and reminds people of things that we have or could have had instead.

The sad part is that if they stuck with any of the other 3 ideas and developed it independently it would have ended up a great class. Hell, I would kill for a really well made Aztec warrior class that is inspired by the actual Aztec culture. They could have made the spirits reminiscent of the real life mythology and provided us with their own take on the feathered snake, the humming bird and the quail but instead we have an eagle, a centipede and a gorilla, the first duplicating one of the Druid’s spirit animals, the second being weird for the sake of being weird and the third being native to a completely different continent.

An African-inspired warrior would also be interesting although I am not that familiar with African mythology. I think they tried to half-assedly mash the two together here with the gorilla being native to African and the centipede might have been inspired by Anansi, the great spider, but the four animals that were chosen do not really fit together well. And still even that mix might have been fine if they did not cram the shaolin moves and the elemental effects into the mix.

I think the games concept is brilliant, the artwork is amazing, along with the graphics.

The new Spiritborn class, looks great as do all the classes and I truly believe the excitement and enthusiasm the developers express for this new class and for the game.

But In reality, we have to play this game and you haven’t fixed the balancing issues with the current classes.

I play the Sorceress my class of choice, but it is ruined by the balancing issues, skills and aspects that don’t work and instead of fixing the them, you create a new class.

What chance is there of playing the new class as intended, when you haven’t fixed the classes we currently have.

What was wrong with just a MONK? why you have the need to change stuff names?
because this is just name change
Like why i feel that only interesting class that came out of D4 is druid
Because every other class was in d3 and it was better in terms of spells gameplay?
Like imagine a boulder toss barb like that was a lot of FUN but you cannot do that in D4
or a Vyr chantodo sorcerer
you had all in previous 2 games and you go with this nonsence
Like yes spiritborn looks COOL
But it lacks something and it shows
less is sometimes better
Things that people like
TRADITION keep it simple

Well we didn’t have any gameplay during blizzcon 2023, just pictures and cinematic but it looks interesting. So I will play Spiritborn in october. Perhaps the Spiritborn will give more insight of the jungle/swamp as it seems not to be part of the Sancutary, yet we can access the jungle and swamp. Was hoping the next class was Paladin/Crusader but perhaps in the future or maybe like the Spiritborn, they make a new sword and board class. Just hope it be a fun class. Hopeing next expansion we either go to Arreat or Tristram area. Sure Xiansui is a possiblity as it is new and there is alot of Asian inspired armor and weapons at the D4 Shop. But I want to go to the classic areas.

depending on the direction you take on this class you play a Monk like toon vs a WD like toon what is my personal favourite.
