Can someone explain the weird complaints i see from youtubers?

D1 had Battle.net … it showed the portrait of your character class, along with the level, and showed the ping of the player within its lobbies. It was literally my first online game, recall downloading my very patch on PC with it off dial-up.

It was uuuuuuugly back then. :stuck_out_tongue:

Previous titles gave us the exact same system of play through on all our characters. There were no different ‘outcomes’ from playing a barbarian to an amazon in D2 or a monk to a wizard in D3. Once you hit max level in D3 you unlocked adventure mode and that’s where the focus is, not the story.

The difference is that you can choose to play the story again in D3 whenever you want to, but it’s still gonna be pointless.

There’s literally no point in playing through the story more than once.

D3 carried over a new variant of the act system from D2, that let you go back to different acts, thus increasing replayability, but still, it is rather pointless.

Actually, D3’s campaign is much shorter.

D4 have REGIONS, with no loading screens in between each zone. That’s the literal definition of open world games.

Each map in Diablo 3 were tiny compared to each region in D4. Can’t compare the two whatsoever.

In D3 you could run through each map in less than 30 seconds.

No. People need to set their expectations lower to avoid getting disappointed.

If you whine about the lack of content for a game that has just released, you’re just acting like an entitled, spoiled child in a candy store.

That wasn’t the case when D3 released. Again, more people who don’t know what they’re talking about… This is really getting tiresome…

Add to that, D3 is an insanely easier game than D4.

People still whined like crazy over the lack of content when D3 released as well.

Yeah and all that was in the game when it was released. Oh no wait… -_-

These are people who say there is nothing to do having just spent over 300 hours over the course of four weeks playing all of the content in the game. :grinning:

Splashbang: thus increasing replayability, but still, it is rather pointless.

Increased replayability certainly isn’t pointless. Though I agree replaying campaign was by far not the most efficient way to increase the power of your character.

Splashbang: D4 have REGIONS, with no loading screens in between each zone. That’s the literal definition of open world games.

Exactly. Except that the current ‘world’ is a part of a continent. Where is the rest of sanctuary? We went across multiple continents to see how Sanctuary was suffering. We went to the Nine Hells, seeing multiple holds of demons. We went to the Heavens to wreak havoc. What do we do in D4? We trudge through one part of a continent, with a single forage to Hell.

Splashbang: In D3 you could run through each map in less than 30 seconds.

Only with certain builds that allowed one to spam teleports/dashes. If you had those same builds in D4 you’d be able to zip through a full region in less than 30 seconds. They chose to remove fast-travel skills for D4, but that doesn’t make the world bigger.

I admit, I had forgotten how bare D3 was on launch. And that for a much longer development time as D4. I’m curious to see where D4 will go from now. If it will get as much better as D3 did, we’re in for a treat. For the time being I’m content. Haven’t reached 100 yet, for example : )

EDIT: I apologise for reaching back in a 2 week old topic. I saw a reply come in and didn’t check the date of the reply.

No, Sanctuary is THE continent.

I don’t care about what anyone says when they’re complaining about the lack of content etc at this point be cause all their arguments are moot when the fact is that the game is new, and other games have also been in this exact state where people whine about a lack of content during it’s first month or two post launch.

Content for most games (especially live service games) are added over time, hence it’s wrong to compare a newly released game to games that have been out for years, decades even, which is what the majority of haters on this forum are doing.

Right, so 30 sec is with some boost to movement speeds, but it takes about 1 minute to rush through them without much of it. I’ve got two of each class in D3 at max level and farmed them all up through the highest torment levels and i’ve done it on classes without using movement abilities and gear boosts, and some with.

The only maps that takes longer are some of the high heaven maps and the lower hells maps along with the pandemonium maps. The rest of the world maps are tiny and takes hardly any time to run through.

Mobs don’t matter on levels lower than Torment 14 because you literally can just spam abilities and watch everything die instantly.

We’ll see exactly how season 1 unfolds and what we’re getting in terms of raw content. I’m not holding my breath though, and i’ve set my expectations low to not get overly disappointed.

Yes, there was. People were playing coop D1 over the internet and hanging out in public Battle.net chat rooms, in-game, the rooms were called “Diablo Retail region-1” and such. I’ve been there, I’d know.

Yep. It wasn’t much but we could play co-op, albeit a bit more restricted than in D2 with the addition of closed/open battle.net since co-op for D1 was P2P instead of through the battle.net servers themselves.

dont buy it, its a total crap game, you will need to grind for weeks to have 1 mini upgrade!

It isn’t. Sanctuary is the world. Which consisted of multiple islands and two continents (well, big islands. Don’t know if they are actually called continents). The continent we’re on now is Kehjistan/Dry Steppes/Scosglen/Swamps/Jungle.

There’s another continent to the west with Sharval Wilds/Khanduras/Westmarch and the Dreadlands.

No matter how bare D3 was at the start, there were a lot more areas included in the game. So simply saying “the game is new” doesn’t work here. The game is based in a much smaller part of the world of sanctuary. Maps being tiny is still an exaggeration.

I tried finding a decent overview of all areas in D3 to show the total area you could visit was more than what we have now, but I failed to find such an overview.

Content-wise you’re right. There’s more to do than there was in D3. Doesn’t take away the fact that it’s very little. Supposedly it’s a AAA game, with a big studio behind it with years of development time. As was the case with D3. It was disappointing how much game was actually delivered at launch.

You’re right again that that’s partly our own fault. We have too high expectations.

As for the current situation:

I’m pleased with Season 1 coming after a month. Progress was slowing down for me, so the timing was perfect. I’m also pleasantly surprised with the content provided in season 1. Taking these things together it makes sense how they launched D4. Give people time to get used to the game mechanics and theorycraft, then spice things up with new good stuff.

That the servers were overloaded was bad planning on their part though. And people that actually got in to play, couldn’t enter the first seasonal dungeon was terrible of course. Almost as if they didn’t do anything with their experience from D3 or the games launch.

All in all, I’m a happy camper. Will see if 3 months is too long for a single season. How do you like season 1 so far?

Not agree, this game is empty…
Just farm same dungeons over and over until lv100 ones with crappy rigged drops and reroll…
Great !

I bought this game because I have a lot of fun playing Immortals FOR FREE
This game doesn’t offer much more for such a high price.

It’s a rip-off, and take that from a guy who plays video games since commodore era.

Because it is? Now its 22 days later, and even the latest campfire stated it was rushed. SO WHAT NOW?
HOW COMES YOU SHILLS DONT SEE SHET UNTIL THE DEVS AKNOWLEDGE SAID SHET ? Dont you have own eyes and brain? Why not use it ???
Its pseudo content, it has 5 dungeons, helltides and thats it. LIKE YEAH MUCH CONTENT WOOOOW.
Watch D2 how to do cool content and item hunt, or watch poe for good endgame content, or watch lost ark how to make interesting dungeons/bosses, or even watch d3 where you can make endlessgriend fun (Greater rifts). But no, this D4 is so trash. UNBELIEVEABVLE

Well if their seasons will look similar to season 1 then it will be disaster. Like seriously this season is so small in scope and content. They created open world with regions and cities and then as a seasonal content they drop you a guy with a wagon outside of town without any context or connection to anything. They could raze whole city or even region and make players fight corruption over the 3 months period, add some new lines for NPC’s in towns and new quests, but that would actually demand some work. So if second season will be just some random quest that can be finished in 2-3 hours then we have a serious problem.

yes you are missing somthing, or more to the point d4 is missing somthing.

the reason why doing endless meph runs in d2 FEELS better is because you can get rich doing it. at no point does d4 offer this feeling of being “rich” once you have a character that can farm end game, then your done, there is no point in farming more items, it dosn’t make you character stronger and it wont make you “richer”.

do you remeber in d2 how there would be “free 4 U” games, and 1 rich af guy would run around town droping decent items while the noobs ran around fighting for the drops??
or
do you remeber how your rich friend hooked you up big time with all kinds of very usefull items / runes.

THAT is what d4 is missing. there is no amount of content that can replace that. its not that there is nothing to do in d4 endgame its that there is nothing WORTH doing.

I remember D1 and why Diablo as a game cought me.
It was the loot. Hate to say it, but it is always the loot.
How much of a better sword can I make with this and that.
I belive it is what drive the community today as well. But with a little less fortitude we had then.
