I can't face it any more

Another season and this time, I can’t face it. They can tweak the models and some of the rewards, but it’s still the same repetitive boring cr4p that was mildly interesting the first time.

How do you guys keep going round the same hamsters’ wheel each season and not have any better / varied games to play? I think I’m done.

This is what I keep asking people. Why the hell anyone finds the idea of Seasons enjoyable when it’s really just a big marketing con. Level to 60 now reset, level to 60 now reset, level to 60 now reset - don’t forget to bring your wallet. With every ‘Season’ announced as being bigger and better than the last.

The game industry has broken everything down into a formula and drip feed you ‘fun’ (which is really just some form of controlled grinding) while trying to make as much money out of you as possible, Blizzard are now exceptional at it.
They probably know how much they’ll make every quarter and know exactly when to release what. Example, hold off on the Paladin/Templar during initial release so you can make a fortune later re-introducing (usually to buff up some expansion to help regenerate waning interest) further down the line. But will they do anything about the horribly shallow game-play loop? Nope. I bet most of their work goes into controlling how quickly we achieve things within that loop so they can control more things more effectively and efficiently further down the line (it’s really the reason they keep us online - one big marketing experiment, that tasty data!),

It’s disgusting, no longer an organic process but a greed driven refinement process.

I’ve played every season, except this one, yet haven’t shed a penny since the original purchase.

Only D3 and 4 had Seasons if I’m correct? Season’s are the main issue I have with the game, that and the loot process. In D1 and 2 the game didn’t magically reset after 2-3 months in continual cycles. No, you were allowed to fully develop your character as part of the main game. Also, it’s the control, for me, that is the biggest problem. There is no more ‘luck’ in the game. All meaningful loots is controlled by an algorithm, I would put my house on it.

D2 had seasons, it was called ladder.

Seasons are what keeps these games alive, without seasons the game would be dead 3 months after launch, because everyone would be maxed out and have nowhere to go. The seasonal reset keeps the game fresh, and players engaged.

If you dont like seasons, fair enough, each to their own, thats why eternal exists, but seasons are what keeps this game alive. Same goes for every other major ARPG outthere.

Perhaps games should be dead after 3 months, if all they can come up with is a reskinned exact same experience. You used to play a game once, maybe twice, and then move on. I can’t see a reason to play the same game 10 times when there are new games coming out all the time. If they can take everyone’s money buy can’t be bothered to make each season sufficiently different each time, from their shop income etc, then the game should just have an endpoint and stop.

Stringing it out like they do is just to milk those people who can’t help but spend money. It’s a totally lazy design route that preys on those that can’t help themselves. Pretty much like happens to gamblers.

Nobodys forcing you to keep playing or spend any money. If you feel like you are done with the game after 1-2 playthroughs, you are free to move on.

What keeps you going through all the repetition?

Well, first of all, i dont find it repetitive, i find it refreshing to return for a new season after a break, and start fresh with a new character, and new seasonal mechanics and goals.
Secondly, any game becomes repetitive after a while if you play it obsessively, taking breaks and playing other games, or doing other things help you not burn out.

I’ve played all seasons (including S10) and had fun in all … I don’t understand the “hate” messages, if you don’t like the game, then don’t play it - but considering people are motivated enough to actually post their discontent, then they must actually be emotionally attached!?!? :person_shrugging:

In Greek mythology, Zeus condemned Sisyphus to push a huge boulder up a mountain only to have it roll back down every time he neared the top….for eternity. Many generations have considered this a story of punishment by endless pointless repetitive labor. However, seasonal D4 players are confident that Sisyphus is having great fun.

I would like to enjoy my many hours of grinding levels and paragons by having a fully levelled and BIS-geared toon that kicks butt, but as soon as it goes over to eternal I lose the seasonal buff that was essential to my build working properly. Online build guides are of no help for Eternal players because they’re focused on seasonal buff-mandatory builds. Thus, playing Eternal means playing a makeshift E-tier build. When season 11 starts even my 26 mythic uniques in Eternal will go to the shredder. Wish I had a way to use that 98B gold sitting in Eternal, too. What a waste….

LOL, dude its all the same

I’m looking forward to the new season.
The chaos powers has been alright but ultimately they’ve locked me into a bad spot.
Same with the chaos armors.
I suppose they went with this to see if some of the uniques could be made into aspects.
Perhaps they can.
I’ve enjoyed this season and I now think things are going in the right direction, which I was worried it wasn’t. But I am relieved it is almost at its end because the way I see it I can’t progress much further.

Understandably, the game is just a repeat after each season. There is no real endgame system that is challenging. You one-shot everything in the endgame, and over time, the game becomes stale.

Even the couch gamers getting frustrated about the game tells everything.

This game is abandoned, even by their own team, some of them leaving blizzard, because they actually never listened and never wanted to.

I wonder how can you (OP) like soccer seasons… or any seasonal sport…
They’re all the same, they play, they finish the championship, and next season it’s all over again the same stuff…
:person_facepalming:

Imagine being a sucker for soccer or similar… “Woow adults running after a ball! WOOW so exciting! amazing!”… Come on. And people pay to watch that. Wtf

Are you really trying to compare real life to a formulaic computer process? That is a very bizarre comparison, not sure it works. The only comparison that works here is the shared use of the word ‘season’. That what you based this on? Not sure you’ve thought this through properly.

Repetition:

Everything is repetitive. Football, soccer, tennis, boxing.

Accounting, journalism, writing in general.

repetition is not a valid complaints, as results are always different
