Just my thoughts on tempering and general Item Crafting.
Currently it is possible to spend resources and time tempering a item and end up having basically the same item, because both tempers ended up on something that isn’t at all useful for the current build. Add to the mix that sometimes enchanting also doesn’t provide you with the necessary affix for your build and you end up with 2 completely rng based systems that do not feel (at least a bit) rewarding when everything goes wrong.
Masterworking on the other hand feels okay. At least each masterwork is guaranteed to make your item better and on top of that you have the chance for a lucky roll. That for me is good rng.
Contrast this with the affix shard system available in Last Epoch. There when crafting on an item that - in it’s base state - is already as good or better than your current item, you will 100% of the time end up with an upgrade. It might not be as good of an upgrade as you had hoped for, but it certainly will be an upgrade. Also in Last Epoch, Items that seem to be worse in their base state can become, with a bit of luck and much better than your current item. In D4 crafting a supposedly worse item to something better than your current one is basically impossible, or requires tempering/enchanting on your current item to have gone wrong to begin with.
Just my two cents, maybe someone cares.
