I’m having a connection issue with the Hearthstone PC client on Windows. It does not look like a normal FPS/performance issue. It feels more like the client is waiting for Hearthstone/Battle.net services for a very long time and then fails when trying to enter a match.
What happens:
-
After launching Hearthstone, the Starting up phase can take around 30 seconds.
-
Entering the Tavern can also take around 30 seconds.
-
The shop / hub / in-game tabs load very slowly, often around 30 seconds each.
-
Opening Battlegrounds also takes a long time.
-
After I start matchmaking, a match is found.
-
The client starts connecting to the match, freezes/stutters briefly, then immediately disconnects me.
-
After that, the game tries to reconnect, but it never successfully gets back into the match. It stays in a reconnect loop.
Important detail: on the same Battle.net account and the same Wi‑Fi network, Hearthstone works fine on my phone. Matches start and play normally there. The issue happens only on the Windows PC client.
What I see in GameNetLogger.log:
The client seems to connect to the game server and send the handshake successfully:
Network.GotoGameServe() - address= 5.42.177.78:3724
Network.OnGameServerConnectEvent() - Connected to game server with error code ERROR_OK
Network.OnGameServerConnectEvent() - Connected to game server with socket error: Success
Network.SendGameServerHandshake()
GameMgr.OnGameSetup()
After that, I get disconnected and reconnect does not recover the match.
What I already tried:
-
Completely reinstalled Hearthstone.
-
Completely reinstalled Battle.net.
-
Deleted leftover Battle.net / Blizzard / Hearthstone folders from ProgramData, AppData\Local, and AppData\Roaming.
-
Deleted and re-downloaded the Hearthstone Data folder.
-
Ran Scan and Repair.
-
Cleared the Battle.net cache.
-
Changed DNS to Cloudflare / Google.
-
Ran:
ipconfig /flushdns
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
Checked that proxy is disabled. -
Tried with VPN enabled and disabled.
-
Tried switching Hearthstone/Battle.net regions and then switching back.
-
Checked Windows Firewall rules and did not find any obvious blocking rules for Hearthstone / Battle.net / Blizzard.
-
Tried windowed mode / different display mode.
-
Restarted the PC and router.
After a full PC restart, the game connected successfully once, but after leaving and launching/trying again, the issue came back.
Has anyone experienced this before or found a way to fix it?
