i liked it last time when i threw my own controll warrior (that was on the first day of the second day of the rotation so dont hate me) and it was really fine
im going to find a quest warrior version i like and than im going for it …
For me specifically its because brawl is meant to the the fun gamemode where you have some insteresting scenarios or gimmicks, if a brawl isnt something you like you just need to get a win and be done with it, brawlisium however you need to suffer playing 3 or more games to get a reward before you can leave it.
You cant play it with friends as sonething to spice things up when playing with one (me and a friend were excited for new brawl and played games against each other till new one came out, we both just sighed cause we couldnt play it against each other)
Also the fact that usually 1 or 2 of my loses was because of dum rng letting the opponent get a riddiculus combo and losing just to that is just infuriating.
Finally unless your paying for another entrance fee you have a week of no brawl.
Member my opponent swapping between armor and drone every turn?
I hate the brawl cause that’s something I use to relax, it’s my dose of random effects and memes and they are taking it away to push on us that rubbish when I don’t even remember what standard is like, it’s two times unfair towards me, and I can cope with the bad brawls but this one is worse than them all and gets the most attention of them all
everything where you get a reward based on your preformance is more popular then stuff just for fun …
in HOTS right before they fused the leagues together everyone was just playing solo league instead of teamleague (i mean it was far out of propotion) just because it shows your own preformance and not form your team …
I always find comparing it to arena to be a weird comparison. It’s essentially constructed, where after you lose 3 times you get a reward. Seeing as I imagine you’d wana be playing constructed anyway, it’s basically just a bonus on the 1 week where above all you should want to play constructed instead of a random tavern brawl.
I hate brawlisiums mid-expansion, but I’ll take my extra new pack + 85g bonus for playing the deck I probably would have been playing anyway.
It’s not the best but what I hate most about this…they ALWAYS make this the tavern brawl the first brawl after the release of a new expansion…like the average player has any frigging idea what decks to expect and how best to play against new archetypes after 1 day, at least let players get familiar with the new cards by throwing this one out
Why?
Apart from the wins/losses and reward structure, it is not like Arena at all.
I like Arena because of the draft, and how it ensures I get a fresh new deck every time, and fresh new opponents every time.
Brawliseum is just constructed. Except that here people are even more determined to enter with their best decks only.
But there are people who do love this format.
And if there’s one thing about Tavern Brawl that I love, it is the variation where each week something different happens. I cannot expect something different each time AND expect it to be exactly what I want. So I’ll just use the free first entry, whip up a quick deck using the few cards I have, see how far I come, and get my rewards.
it’s all the cool things of arena - farming bad players, and consistently doing 12 wins
withouth the infuriating bad things of arena - 4 op cards in a deck, draw rng, etc
I was going to write a big post about this, but here goes a TL&DR version: the Brawliseum is a currency sink. It lowers availability of gold and dust in the game’s economy at a time where players need it the most.
People that love it often do well in it and those are likely to benefit from it. To the rest of the players, it is either a “concede 3 to win a pack” or a really bad decision. Speaking of which, if you can put up an average of 3.5 wins, you should consider playing it consistently throughout the week.
As much as I want to believe that this is a high engagement event within a well established release cycle, I have a very hard time moving away from the fact that this brawl fits like a glove on a strong monetisation strategy that will strangle player’s resources and dry up in-game economy.
That’s fine, mate. I’m never to point fingers at players for doing what the game allows them to do. I often say that gamers are “outcome optimisation machines”. You are doing gamer stuff. I’d do it too if I enjoyed it.
I dunno, would your gold sink fears be removed, if they took the one simple step of announcing brawliseum as the first brawl, pre-expansion release? That way, weaker/non caring players take their 1 free run, with the added rewards and stronger players (say average 4+ wins) could save the last 1000 gold they were gona use on packs, to play brawliseum and increase the amount of packs that 1000 would have got them.
So, I’ve so far played five matches on my free Brawlisium run. Won 4 and lost 1 so far. The last match I finished a minute ago was a sight to behold!
I play as Mech Hunter, opponent was Quest Rogue. He got Heistbaron Toggwaggle off and summoned two legendaries two times thanks to the shark on the board. The board was full. Two of the four summoned legendaries were Octosari. I was about to lose. Then I drew Missile Launcher which I magnetized with Venomizer and, well, killed his entire board. And made the rogue draw 16 cards due to Octosaris’ Deathrattle and he died to fatigue, going to negative -205 health!
So far I have faced:
Quest Druid - Win
Quest Shaman - Win
Heal Druid - Loss
Murloc Shaman - Win
Quest Rogue - Win
