Hmmm, what about something similar to how Dr Boom works? A Mage hero where the hero power rotates each turn to different school of magic. So one turn your hero power would be a frost hero power, freeze a minion or something or gain some frost armor, next turn a fire hero power like deal 3 damage to a minion, next turn an arcane hero power like summon a mirror image or 1 damage to all minions. Probably a bit too similar to Dr Boom to be fair though
The point was to make an utility tool in line with the mage cards and archetypes, a burn mage might want to fist for the 3 damage, the 2 to 3 characters is also good and really they could try and get an explosive runes on, a pyroblast in hand, or really just freeze a character, maybe a lifesteal card or a giant, it would sicit the player, almost always having an answer but having to search for it and pick carefully, a skill demanding card as people seem to enjoy (not really)
I was thinking Dr. Boom is too random and rather weak which is great and which means the mage can be easy to balance, now that I have the idea. I didn’t like the random aspect, discover seems like a mage mechanic and finally, I didn’t want a Dr. Boom for mage, Dr. Boom is slready lame enough
I was thinking about it last night and may have touched on an intriguing idea. Instead of a mage hero that rotates through the 3 magic schools, what about a mage hero card that, when you play it, you pick you discipline, kind of like how discover works. You get to pick frost mage, fire mage or arcane mage…each with their own unique hero power and when you pick it it could maybe add x amount of fire/frost/arcane cards to your hand or deck depending on what you pick or maybe replace them with a set card pool for each specc and then draws as many cards as you had in hand at the time. Obviously frost would be the defensive choice with ice barriers, freeze spells and water elementals etc, fire the big hitting spells, explosive runes, minions like antonidas choice and arcane would be things like mirror entity and counterspell secrets/mirror images/astromancer that kind of thing.
Just a rough idea but I kinda like the premise of it
They already announced that there wont be any hero cards for this expansion HOWEVER i saw a youtube video recently that a guy in reddit or w/e experienced a bug when he bought 80€ bundle. And in that video there was a Darius Crowley hero card for warrior.
Now im not sure if this is a troll attempt by that player or blizzard just trying not to spoil everything but i wouldnt rule it out. Even if it is not going to be in this expansion we probably will see a hero card this year.
So to entertain the idea, i would have really liked a mage hero card for Rise of Shadows since it is going to be a Dalaran themed expansion, a hero card for Khadgar or Ronin would have been a perfect fit. I guess this is another missed opportunity for Blizzard.
Likely a troll, or a seriously screwed up bug. As you say, Blizzard have announce there will be no new hero cards in this expansion, and even if they were planning on some, it wouldn’t make sense to give a new hero card to a class that already has one where there are 6 classes that don’t…but then it’s not like the dev’s have never made stupid decisions before
Yeah it was hotfixed immediatley but croley is a hero from one of the hero’s in the single player adventure, we can still be suprised though since maybe it is a false announcement but i wouldntplace my bets on it, though i prefer no hero’s for once since matches can be decided on who draw them first.
I agree that they should never add heroes like Gul’dan, Jaina and Rexxar for 1 class only, but Hagatha, Dr Boom or Zul’jin does not break the game. Even if you dont draw them your deck is still playable. I have 2 warrior decks for standart right now and i only use Dr Boom in certain situations. It doesnt win games but it is still a useful card.
I do agree with everything you say, but I do think it’s an imbalance in the game that 3 classes have access to a hero card while 6 don’t. It’s true that they aren’t game breaking by themselves but they are still very strong cards. I’m of the school of thought that everyone should have one or nobody should have one to be honest purely because the classes that don’t have them can’t boast something equally as powerful with a single play like Zul’jin or that offers the long term value that is provided by Hagatha’s hero power (combined with 3 damage aoe on play) or Dr Boom’s rush effect and very strong hero power, not to mention that they also provide 5 armor on play which can be a difference maker in a late game
As I say, they aren’t game breaking but they are strong enough for it to be considered a slightly unfair advantage to have them…at least in my opinion
Can we theory craft please?
We were talking about deleting frost lich jaina and replacing it with a lovely card
