Limit players to top heroes

I just lost a Storm League game playing with an Uther that healed 1K more than Arthas, healing 22K in total in about 14 minutes, most of that self-heal… In contrast the opponent Kharazim healed 57K.

After raging a bit and declaring I wasn’t going to attend objectives as our healer wasn’t healing me at all and I lasted only 5 seconds, I look at this guy’s winrate with Uther in Gold 3 and its 14%.

  1. Why do players think its a good idea to play 55 different heroes in competitive leagues like Storm League?
Surely it should be quite obvious (over a statistically significant number of games) that if you can play Malfurion at 60%, but Uther at 14%, the game outcome is mostly being influenced (good or bad) by your selected hero and ability or inability to play that hero?

  2. Suggestion Blizzard needs to limit the choices players have in Storm League to heroes with with win rates (in Storm League) over 45% or QM at a certain MMR over 50%, or (failing that) at worst a player’s top 16 heroes.

I won’t fool myself by thinking I can play every level 5 hero in Platinum. I can play max three or four heroes at that level and they are relatively obscure heroes so I always get to pick one of them.

Please sort this out. It is an utter waste of time playing with someone who literally is ‘out of their league’.

Ah!, My Ultimate Solution to HOTS Misery also fixes your problem

Ultimate Solution = B polite n motivating in chat, & queue in with frends (best if 5man party)

Uther is all in healer… meaning, he really isn’t a healer… entire comp should be built upon him and played in a very aggressive way.

Usually when somebody goes Uther, you will need one more healer or strong support like Zarya.

He is more of a control hero… you go in, stun stuff, balls deep, kill stuff… if your team fails to kill anything, it will probably be GG.

He is well paired with Kerrigan, Illidan, Greymane, Butcher. Entire concept of Uther healing is kill before being killed, unlike most other healers where they can sustain.

So don’t know how your comp looked like, did you guys complement Uther pick, or was Uther pick out of place.

Chin up, hope next game will be better

I don’t really have an issue with the hero. He went dmg build as a solo healer.

My problem is with players that pick heroes that they clearly do not know how to play. This applies to all heroes

That will always be the case, and is impossible to build a system to control that. Somebody might think they know, but actually they don’t.

I.e. I’ve seen people playing so bad on X hero, after match view their profile, that hero is lvl 50+ in their roster.

Too many parameters come into play, so you can’t simply limit it on win rate or hero level.

Last season I played Uther only in case when my comosition is truly trash and no way to win, like you said it was around 14%
reason why I do that its because I dont want to ruin winrate with better heroes.

Yesterday I played a game where I picked Alex with 25k heal against Morales who triple over healed me.So easy win, nice compo,no need for more heal couse I didn`t have to do more, they played very good or enemy team played very bad.

You have to adjust to your healer and adjust your gameplay on it.poke poke, back, poke, heal, poke, wait for chance to kill.

In lower Leagues there is big problem in TF where all go in no matter what will happen just go in and press all buttons Kamikaze play style, always on and on every team fight.Like gambling if win win,if lose lose.

This days I met a player with KDA 350 LIFETIME.Winrate very close around 50%,he maybe die one time for ten games played

I like playing Rehgar aggressively, maybe Uther and Rehgar could work, but you can almost never experiment in team league because people always rage at every non meta composition.
Once I managed to convince the team (solo+4) to go double healer rehgar comp on braxis, we destroyed the opponents. Safely taking our camps (1+3 in lanes and I solo take camps) then pushing them out with big camp and our bruiser on top, and 4+small camp on bot, winning zergs easy. And you can safely take camp knowing the 3 on bot have healer so they can defend vs 4. Its simple and easy strategy but its hard to implement when you hear “don’t go double healer, please! can’t we have normal game?!” etc.

Well specifically numbers for uther is an issue, if i remember right.
He’s armor bonus dont contribute to healing numbers, the fact that he negates dmg does alot of benefit to him, also he has alot of self heal because all his heal auto also heals him. He’s also very mana hungry at the beginning, he’s not a healer which tops u up all the time or he just gets oom.

There’s also the question of did you force him to heal or if he chose it himself with the first come first serve pick order

Trust me i know.

I have played som valla, and double tank double support with valla is insanely awesome in maps with centered obj,
if only the tanks hold their ground, and the healers keep tank alive, valla can unload tonnes of damage with the AA build, and i hav enjoyed tht,

Recently, i found a frend MrCheeky, he turned out tht he played a lot in some other account, asked me to go aba in ranked, we had one tank one assassin n one healer n he was tracer, i said how confident r u with tracer? he said VERY.
i checked up, he had 100% win rate in 13 games, i gambled,
and man, even i didnt like the way we stomped the next 4 games, he was too good, and i would soak top n bottom while they brawl in mid, and occasionally come to hat tracer to help him secure kills,

Weird comps work well, but u need to hav the skill and trust.
im hoping to go all specialists in ranked someday
we were once stomped in ranked, we were standard tank healer n 3assassin.
n they were ( i sh!t u not ) azmo, sylvana, xul, hammer n murky
they stomped us on BoE., they never took the obj, by the time second obj spawn, both our forts were down, when we took the second obj, hammer n azmo came to defend, n xul sylvana murky got our keeps lol

we were literally running here n there for murky n xul n sylvana and we were a 5 man party, and were just laughing tht this is some insane sh!t ,
but they were gud, tht murky was really pro, octagrab n kill if u try to bully him

Im still waiting for the chance to go greymane worgen build if i happen to get
a tank AND zarya, morales and aba/tassa/medivh , would b fun

I’m fairly confident that Blizzard does this in QM based on the selected hero. i.e. my Gazlow rating > my Uther rating.

I don’t believe it would be simple, but I don’t see why it would be impossible given a statistically significant number of games with certain heroes. If you have played 20 games with a hero and registered only 4 wins, this is actually significant considering a more or less 50-50 expected win-rate. Of course one would factor in standard deviation etc, but it wouldn’t be difficult to quickly figure out if a person can play a hero or not.

Limiting the amount of heroes a person can play in Ranked is a terrible idea

Especially if they worked hard or cared enough to spend money to purchase those heroes

Let’s say for example I own only ten heroes and the only two Healers I own are Malfurion and Li Li

Li Li is either banned or picked by the enemy team

I have only a 0.1% win-rate with Malfurion because I am just that terrible of a player

But my team requests me to play Healer and I want to actually help them

But I am unable to because your new idea prevented me from playing Malfurion and healing my team

My team is now demoralized and lost the game despite trying hard because the enemy team had an amazing Healer

The outcome would no doubt be a lot fairer if I was allowed to pick Malfurion that game

It has to determine map you played that hero on, filter how many games you played on that map, and win rate, what was the composition, etc… That still doesn’t factor in human element.

Which is the main problem. Messi can have a bad day, so can anybody else. Computer doesn’t know if the person behind is drunk, angry, super hyped, chill at that specific moment.

To me personally it is all about that, sure you may have great win rate, but its just one of those days. Thats why I consider this to be flawed, machine can learn patterns but it can’t learn emotions.
