Well, me and my friend played in Team League and had a 7/10. I was 5 times MVP and him none. His placement was Silver 4 and mine Bronze 4. How is this even possible?
The reason might be that you played much more matches than your friend, so your rating is more accurate than his. If you don’t belong in bronze you will climb your way up, and if your friend belongs lower than silver 4 he has a streak of losing matches incoming (unless people will carry him).
AFAIK qm mmr and previous seasons affect your current placement.

rank is just a joke. I have been matched with people, who have a rank, way above what they should have
thts bcoz they party up with good players n get carried.
if they start playing solo, they wil fall onto the rank they deserve
