Wrathion Multi-class (?) Hero Concept

First of all, hi, and thank you for taking your time to read this suggestion/idea.

I have had this character in mind for a while now and have always wanted to see him added into HotS. Also, with Varian as the only multi-class hero, I believe that it is time for another, and Wrathion fits the bill perfectly in my opinion. I have based my idea around the fight you had against him (or with him depending on your role) in the legendary quest from Mists of Pandaria: “Celestial Blessings”.

Edit: Seems that Specialist will be gone, so no longer sure on how to make him a multi-class hero, but I still think this could be fun. :End Edit.

So without further ado…

Wrathion Hero idea for Heroes of the Storm

All values that has a “-“ between them (example: 56 damage each 0.5-1 second) is basically an either or, not sure, sign. It IS just an idea after all.

Multiclass hero
While in human form he acts more like a specialist hero, whilst in his Whelp form he acts more like an assassin.

Edit: (As stated, due to class name changes, multi-class may no longer be a thing.) :End Edit.

Trait: Black Prince’s Disguise
Wrathion can change from whelp to human and vice-versa depending on the situation. Wrathion’s basic abilities also change depending on the form he is currently in.

Human Form: All damage done versus Buildings and Minions is increased by 50 %.

Whelp Form: All damage done versus Heroes and Mercenaries is increased by 25-50 %.

Basic attack

Human form: Throws black and red fireballs that pierce and travel 30 % further if used against minions or structures. Ranged.

Whelp form: Fires a magma ball that splashes the damage to nearby enemies of the target. Ranged.

Before we move on to the abilities, just know that all damage numbers, cooldowns and what not are not final or with Wrathion in any specific level. They are simply there to give a basic idea of the abilities and how they differ from one another.

Human form basic abilities
(All abilities deal damage to heroes, minions, mercenaries, summons, bosses and structures.)

  • Q: Reign of Fire
    Cooldown: 8 seconds.
Wrathion summons three orbs of flames above his head and fling them at the target location each 0.5 second, dealing 146 damage each in a small area over 1.5 seconds.

(Target wise it works kinda like Li-ming’s Arcane bolts, but it always goes to the target location, ignoring all enemies in between. The difference is however that they all travel to roughly the same location and fire one at a time instead.)

  • W: Neltharion’s Tears
    Cooldown: 20 seconds.
Wrathion summons three molten elementals to fight for him for 14 seconds. Each elemental has 250 health and deals 18 damage per second.

(They stay with Wrathion for 3 seconds after fighting something near him, then they will travel towards and down the nearest lane.)

  • E: Blood of the Deathborn
    Cooldown: 10 seconds.
Target an area and create a void zone, dealing 56 damage every 0.5-1 second over 3-4 seconds.

Whelp form basic abilities
(All abilities deal damage to heroes, minions, mercenaries, summons, bosses and structures.)

  • Q: Rule of Fire
    Cooldown: 6 Seconds.
Wrathion summons and hurls one large orb of flame to the target location, dealing 335 damage to all enemies hit.

(Almost like Azmodan’s Globe of Annihilation, but with a smaller area, faster travel time and that it is flung immediately (or spit) and not with that ridiculous range.)

  • W: Crumbling Arc
    Cooldown 10 seconds.
After 0.5 seconds, Wrathion crushes the ground in a semicircle in front of him, dealing 246 damage and slows all enemies hit by 30 % for 1-1.5 seconds.

(May change if ability seems too basic.)

  • E: Shadow of the Deathborn
    Cooldown: 14 Seconds.
Wrathion becomes a shadow and does a short dash in the target direction, becoming unstoppable while dashing, dealing 104 damage to all enemies hit and leaves a Void Zone on the ground that lasts 3-4 seconds and deals 56 damage every 0.5-1 second.

(What I mean with unstoppable, is that he can use the dash to dash through enemies and over terrain. Can be used as an escape or intercept. Or even to cut off an escape route.)

Heroic abilities

  • Inferno
    Cooldown: 100 seconds.
Wrathion targets an area, shifts to his human form and splits up into 8 images with the same amount of health and start channeling Inferno over 8 seconds. It deals 100 % of the heroes and minions hit’s max health in damage if it goes off, killing them instantly. For each image of Wrathion killed below 5 images, the damage is reduced by 25 %. If only 1 image remains, then the channel stops and the cast fails, but the cooldown is still initiated. The final image becomes the real Wrathion. If the cast is successful, then Wrathion will return to the position he cast from. If it goes of it will also deal 653 damage to all structures hit, no matter how many images remain.

It does not deal more damage based on each hero and minion inside the area, it simply deals that unit’s health as damage back to itself.

Example: 1 hero + 8 images = 100 % max health damage = Enemy hero dead.
Example 2: 2 heroes + 5 images = 100 % max health damage = Enemy heroes dead.
Example 3: 2 heroes + 4 images = 75 % max health damage = Enemy heroes survive with 25 % health each if they were at full health before cast.

  • Black Wrath
    Cooldown: 80-90 seconds.
Wrathion targets an enemy hero, shifts to his whelp form and flies up into the air, becoming invulnerable and unstoppable. He will then slowly chase that hero with an unstoppable force of fire dealing 256 damage each 0.5-1 second to all enemies in his path for 8 seconds. If the target dies, then he will stop chasing but scorch the area he is over until the duration ends. When the duration ends, he will return to the spot he cast from.

(Moves at the same speed as Artanis’ Purifier Beam, but with a larger hit radius.)

When it comes to talents…
I don’t have any specific ideas as of right now except that the level 1 or level 3 talent tier needs to have specialization talents: one for his Human Form, one for his Whelp Form and one that works for both. Like how Varian has it.

And that is my idea so far. How do you like it? If you have any suggsetions to it, feel free to type them below.

multi-class is a bad idea. Why do you think there aren’t more than varian. And they are changed up the roles. Specialist is getting removed f.x.

This post is well made, and Wrathion is a cool character too! However I think it is not the time for him to enter the Nexus yet. I feel like he will make another appearance in World of Warcraft, and the next time he won’t be just a whelp.
