I want to change my battletag to “Kevin” but it says that it’s a violation of their guidelines.
I’ve seen many users in game where they have a name as well, so why can’t i change it?
They might have added it as a violation later on and chose not to force each “kevin” to rename their battletag.
Why is the name “kevin” a violation tho?
Assuming by your name, you’re german, right? Do you remember the Jugendwort des Jahres 2018 (Teen word of the year)? It was supposed to be “Alphakevin” but people complained about it because it was insulting to people called Kevin.
Basically, a joke became name-based discimination, which is against the CoC.
That’s why it is a vionation.

That would make sense if the name was ‘‘Alphakevin’’ but not ‘‘Kevin’’.
Kevin is used to call someone stupid or mentally underdeveloped. “Alphakevin” means that you are the most stupid out of the stupid people.

So, what happened is people reported that battle tag as offensive, and they made it offensive, which actually means every word can be made offensive in Blizzard’s book. You can prob write a support ticket, but you’ll prob get the same answer I did…
Good reputation? They’re just lazy and dont want to wastemoney on CS(no company does actually) … so whatever community reports enough times as offensive, they mark it as offensive. Like, how come “yourGayLover” is offensive name, but “yourStraightLover” is not?[“gay” is as offensive word as “straight”] Because “gay” variant was reported enough times as a “bad battletag” - that’s basically answer from the CS people. Power in numbers …

I wanted to tell you more wired names that aren’t ok but the forum system picked them up… yet they are only a mix of numbers. And numbers cant be offensive right? Oh well hope they’ll post it later on.
In your case i think that if they report you with your current name you’ll sursesfully apeal it. They won’t ban you even if it was

Personally i haven’t try to use any “inappropriate” names but i think that most of them will be black listed and using symbols to bypass the censor system is a violation of the code of conduct. Main thing is that this game is rated 12 for 12 yo most parents don’t like there kids getting bombarded with sex related stuff at that age even if indeed its not offensive. And believe me blizzard are pushing this game to be accessible by everyone
They get a free name change and a warning. The people who revue tickets, take calls or work for the live chat are pretty nice at my experience.

Idk about that, one of my friends was named “Afordipplet” and his name was forced change to Bnetplayer after a friend reproted him for all reasons for fun to see what happens.
Also this kevin situation reminds me of the “trihard7” situation.
Basically it doesn’t matter what something is made for or it’s intention, if the masses call it out because one person decided to attach something racist on it, it’s over. You’re done if you use it.

They don’t think like that. They have systems in place that will just ban whatever “local majority” thinks should be banned, saves money from being wasted on CS …
Warning relates only to player using the same name again. You’re free to choose different “bad name” again. And soon you get free name change. And then you pick different “bad name”, and you get another name change for free … etc.
Yeah, it changes to “Player” or “BNETPlayer”, untill you go to “battletag change” service and change it. So, you should tell your friend to go edit their profile …
You think he didn’t try it? It requires him to pay 10 dollah in order to change it.

Mate, I’ve been “name banned” so many times(on this account only once), and always changed battletag(to another edgy name, but that’s not important :D) for free… So, might be a bug, they might have “time period” in which you may change name for free and your friend was late, your friend might have used same name again, who knows …
Well mate, I did it untill I got bored. So I was yourGayLover, HealMeHoes, yourMomsPusher, TheCoon, silverDaddy, whipMeGranny, … might have missed some dozen names … then I got bored and bought new account 
He didn’t even get to chose a name. He sent a ticket and they reply to him somethign in lines of: "your recent battletag was referring to horrific war crimes due to that you are unable to cahnge it for free"I guess?.
Now I don’t know what a dipplet is but can’t believe it’s that bad.
Well then … that answers it. Kinda strange answer … one would think he should deserve perm battletag change ban, but they do like money

Why was TheCoon not ok? Blizzard have worked with south park. Back in the days when blizzard wasnt casual and know its fans.
Why you think South Park chose “the coon”? Today, it usually refers to a black man who only has an eye for white chicks, but back in the days it had similar meaning as the “N” word.
