Competetive filled with alt accounts

They are not gaming the system. They just climbed the ladder because they were extremely good at playing support class or a support hero. There level of playing that specific class is rated at GM level.

But there level of playing say a Dps / Tank may be only at plat because they don’t play it. It’s like in football, you have Messy whose world class at playing the attacking / forward spot. But if you put Messy at the goal keeper spot, he would suck at it. It’s the same thing.

They are not professionals and the current competitive ladder does not in any way represent something as hardcore as a football league. What you are describing is some high ranking player suddenly wanting to play something different but instead of taking the hit to his SR he buys a new account to circumvent that. It is gaming the system, it does allow you to play something different while at the same time keeping your high rank, it has no downsides unlike those poor bastards who are keeping it real.

But hey, there is a very easy way to try a new class on the same account - do it when a new season starts. Go through your placements while playing something else and the game will put you accordingly into a different tier. I’ve done it every time I try to learn a new character, it works.

But then again its maybe because I am not diamond on a single character and gold on everything else I want to play.

Oh no , it’s not gaming the system. Say if your a GM Mercy player and you pick up a hero like Mcree, which you suck at… First off you’ll get a 100 people asking you on voice what your doing. You’ll next hear them say your throwing.
If your not going to play at the same GM level as a Mcree, then your costing everyone else there game. That’s being selfish.

So what’s there to do to ensure you don’t cost anyone a bad experience ? Get a new account and start up on that. It’s simple as that.

Are you diagnosed with Aspergers or something? Not meant as derogatory in any way, since it only makes you different not worse, but you do seem to have an extremely narrow set of “rules” that when broken makes you incredibly upset. And you apply these rules no matter what.

It’s just something that occured to me, that would explain a lot of the discussions you’re involved in.

Thats rich coming from you. If something doesn’t fit your view you are acting in a very similar manner, goes as far as declaring me a waste of time without explaining how I am wrong.

At least I try to explain, you are flat out running away so if I have something you must have something worse.

Not gonna bother with this thread for awhile so lets explain myself better.

Onto the gaming the system argument.

When I drop to platinum and really want to go back to diamond I spam only Roadhog. Why? Because he is my best character and I play him above platinum level all the time. It is easy for me to gain more points for a win and lose less for a loss. In a way I game the system to gain more SR and I am not ashamed to admit it.

Similarly a low rank player can party with a high ranking one. The low rank player then picks a Mercy and the high rank picks a DPS. The low rank enjoys a SR boost and the chance to play in games above their SR, the high rank enjoys easy wins. They are gaming the system too. If you find a way to manipulate your SR to your advantage this is gaming the system. Creating an account so you don’t lose SR on your main one is gaming the system.

Onto smurfs

The discussion we were having with Star here was extremely narrow to begin with. He was talking only about a certain kind of smurfs, perhaps the most benign ones. There are plenty of other people who create smurfs for different reasons like:

  • having a smurf you can relax on while tryharding on your main account
  • having a smurf for the sake of stomping on low ranked players(the infamous bronze to GM challenge for example)
  • having a smurf where you try to get higher SR than your main
  • having another top500 smurf
  • having a smurf to troll with
  • having a smurf for the sake of playing with friends
  • having a smurf for boosting friends
  • having a smurf you use to boost people who are not your friends
  • having a smurf where you challenge yourself to play a single hero, like Bastion or Mei, and see how far you can go

And many, many more. Needless to say not every one of them is created with the intent to not mess with the ladder. Hell, even the good guy, who makes a smurf to train a certain class, might want to sometimes play what he is best at and let out some steam thus destabilizing the matches he is into.

Overall smurfing is not all rainbows and flowers, it adds a certain uncertainty to every match you play, way more than if every guy on your team and on the enemy team plays on their level.

Dude, it was a question, which I explained was not supposed be derogatory.

With all the different kinds of smurfs you mentioned above, you must remember one thing. Smurfs don’t stay forever in one spot in the lower ellos. The Match maker will identify that they are way too good, for the lower ellos and quickly keep pushing them up the ladder.

That way those smurf’s are soon moving up to were they actually belong, and not staying in the lower ellos long enough to keep disrupting things. The other way for them to keep staying in the lower ello’s is straight up by throwing games, and that is a reportable and a bannable offense.
So in reality smurfing is really not a problem for the above mentioned reason. The match maker keeps pushing them up fast.

I understand the problems smurfs might create, like being placed to silver-gold and start stomping players until he gets a decent SR .But the intention of the smurf account isnt always ill-mannered.
Sure there are idiots that create accounts to boost other(either for money or not) and others that find it satisfying to beat new players, but there are also guys like me who just want a new start to the game to learn other classes.

There is no stat reset at the moments which means because i played more healer when i started all the smartasses just check my profile and say “why do you play any other thing than support or tank”.And all of that because everyone wants to main something and not fill the role that the team needs.

You wont see many accounts with balanced time between tanks-dps-supports.

I don’t mind smurf accounts. I appreciate that they take their time to teach me how to be a good player like them. I don’t mind losing to them. It’s nothing compared to the lessons they give me.

not true smurfs do 2 things they play to ruin other pples fun because their main acct is safe and econdly they throw matches so they stay at the same lvl to carry on doing this , competitive is a joke now its just full opf high lvl players with god knows how many alt/smurf accts just ruiing other peoples gaming fun and blizz know this bit do nothing .

If you run into smurfs throwing the game just report them. When they get enough reports they’ll eventually get banned. There are a number of such publicly known high level players that threw and got perma banned !

Lol, it takes 100+reports to get your first one day ban and it will take 1000+ to permaban someone and new account is only 10$ + 3-4 hours of leveling it up.

3-4 hours for 25 levels? I want to be in your matches, as it usually takes 15+ hours.

Because you have no life. The only valid reason to have a handful of accounts like that in this game is being a well known streamer doing entertaining challenges for the chat.

Uff, ouch.

5 accounts is a good indicator of no life
