The team have no right to anything. Just like we have no right to expect someone to play a role they don’t know how to. That’s just matchmaking for you, plenty of LFGs out there that ask for open profiles, join or create one of them.
I’d rather have a system that allows players to choose preferred heroes before they queue, which would then be shown to the team while keeping the profile private.
This way you can show what heroes you would like to play, without having to worry about people misreading your profile.
We should have option that career stats would be visible only to team mates… iam keeping my profile locked cause i dont want to be hard countered from the start
Idk man I like people not knowing I’m a mercy one trick who won’t play her because she’s “bad” ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
From what I’ve seen only bad players keep their profiles hidden. I’ve been on teams with 5 private profiles, its not pretty.
I can concur that. Mostly cowards and one tricks (aka sym/torb mains) keeping their profiles closed and not surprisingly these are the people who usually come trolling at you for maining mercy.
The idea of closed profile should be removed like in Apex you will see who are you grouped with right away.
Profile encourages hard counter? I usually look them up after a game when some of the enemy team performed well otherwise don’t even care.
I don’t understand what your profile being available to the enemy does when it comes to countering. You think the enemy wont switch if they see me playing Torb and they don’t have a Pharah? It gives you like what, less than a minute of freedom before being countered?
A minute can be critical in terms of ult economy, and on KoTH maps he who wins the first fight usually wins the round, so having the element of surprise can be important.
I definitely agree that it wasn’t a good idea as it prevents what I call “positive information acquisition” - finding out what people play to help build an effective team comp, but, as always in this game, it was the idiots that caused this problem.
Hector the profile inspector screaming at his teammate to get off widow before the game even starts because his accuracy is 2% lower than he what he considers to be acceptable or demanding that someone swaps off Tracer to allow him to play her as he has 1 hour more playtime on her this season.
What it needs is more flexibility in what you can display. Perhaps you could chose to display your most played heroes this season with or without winrates or something like that, and as somebody already suggested you could hide it from your opponents but not your teammates.
shrug the only time I check my opponents’ profiles is to see whether they are smurfing or not anyway.
You’re on the right track, but I think the best way would be to only allow the viewing of other people’s profiles while your own profile is available. You don’t want others to see your profile? Well, I guess if you don’t think they deserve to know, you don’t deserve it either.
Also, isn’t it weird how the profile you can view from the forums is so much more minimalistic than the in-game one? At least an “all game modes” option would be appreciated…
You could just idk…
LEARN ANOTHER HERO?
nope.
People abused open profiles and they’re gonna do it again, once public profiles are default or mandatory again.
Not true, I think a team has the right to know if people are playing seriously to win or they are throwing. Realising that your team is throwing is very important
because then you can keep your energy and focus for the next game.
Not much sense in that sentence as well, you are saying that if you play serious comp game you can do it in LFG(=70% defeat) so SoloQ shouldn’t be fixed?
You can’t make judgment on a person’s profile alone, especially since there are so many smurf accounts out there. Ok so a player you look at mains Mercy but decides they want to go Widow, (the playtime difference is like 100hrs), for all we know they are an amazing Widow but just prefer to play support usually, doesn’t mean they are trolling or throwing for going something different. The whole point of the game is to switch heroes, learning to counter, complimenting your team etc, you don’t need profile information for this, players are either cooperative or not. If someone is throwing, being toxic or whatever, it will still happen regardless of whether the profile was private or not, report them and move on.
Why is it 70% defeat for LFG? You don’t need to use it for serious comp or do use it, but just like any other game with this option, you can use it to filter players to what you are looking for, whether they play certain roles, have experience, or in this case have an open profile. Solo queue is always going to have problems but nothing will fix it, like I said players can do/act however the hell they want, but least with LFG you have an avenue to avoid that.
Of course you need profile information. Think about it this way: the whole point of the game is to play together, you don’t need any stats to do that, no reason to show things like eliminations or healing. Or similarly, the whole point of the game is to win, why should SR matter? Might as well do without it, people will want to win either way because this is the point.
You are willfully denying information to your teammates that might(or might not) help the team perform better. For your own selfish reasons. This is the real point. What do you have to hide? Are you so sensitive the moment someone asks you to switch you hurry to hide all the info? Since when competitive games became like this?
my stats maybe, in order to stop people pushing me into roles I don’t like to fill right at the moment. Its my time I spend in the game after all, so my decision what I play, which does not mean I’d throw or troll.
And why is your decision to mute them not applied?
because its more effort to mute all of them, instead of keeping the profile private. Rule of least resistance applies first.
Oh so all of your teammates are mean to you because of your profile? Don’t exaggerate please.
