So this week the game is free to play in order to attract new players to the game.

But the majority of the current player base are rolling new accounts only to smurf and totally destroy new players who have no clue on what to do or how the game really works.
Eventually leading up to people abandoning the game after their brutal experience.
Because as everyone knows any game that has new players playing against experienced players has those new plays leave the game.
in case you haven’t noticed they adjusted the MM a bit pairing low levels against low levels.
To make the experience more balanced.
Now under performing long term players such as yourself, are tired of getting owned on their own ranks/levels and choose to bash unexpereinced players.
I find it quite sad actually, just the community once again trying to euthanize their own playerbase.
That’s weird, hearing how new forums members often talk about how high lvl’d opponents are.

i started playing on the last free weekend and i didnt find a problem at all, i was actually really surprised as in the past when ive tried to play online shooters i did have the experience you mention, just getting utterly obliterated every time i respawned but i found overwatch a pleasant detraction from that, i havent even seen that many toxic people on chat in the hundred odd hours ive played, id argue that its one of the most accessible competitive shooters out there

Quake champions is a joke.
It’s nothing like the original they gave it the quake look and call of duty feel. Quake is dead they killed it.
Not quite what happened. The difference between skill levels is so vast new players are being run off the game and it’ll never have a substantial growth/population.
So, how’s that any different from old quake games? I do remember getting pwned a lot and bad untill I got more experienced …
Difference is … today everybody plays games, and back then only gamers played games(people determined to succeed in game, and most of them were computer geeks, so they all liked challenges). But, now they need to create games that will be likeable by much larger audiance … also, because of that games are now multi-billion bussinesses, and they’d like to keep it that way.
Because Q3 was new and fresh, everybody was playing it, barely any alternatives other than Unreal I guess. Things now are completely different.

new players add more active player numbers, while alt accounts only add income, a lot of players have quit does’t take reading a forum to know that, you just feel that when playing the game, cos suddenly that rank that was out of reach came in reach and standards have decreased.
