I can play role queue ranked with a friend, but not open queue

Hi there, I’m having an issue there

I have a friend who recently got OW so he’s still fairly new (lvl 100+) and we wanted to play ranked open queue together, only when we group up we get the “can’t launch a competitive game because SR are too far apart” message. I can still play role queue ranked with them, and our SR are pretty much on the same level.

I am not placed Diamond and above on open queue so I shouldn’t have issues playing with my unranked friend. Anyone has an idea of why we can’t play open queue? Thanks

i’m having the same problem, the new season just started and my friend who i play daily with and i are trying to do placements. we placed in role queue but now we can’t play in open queue since i placed. last season, we played open queue constantly so i have no idea what’s going on.

Because in role que, you will have a role each where you are within 1000sr.

On open que your SR is clearly too far apart.

His hidden MMR is probably a way off. Even if you’ve never played ranked before, the system starts with an SR in mind based on your MMR.
