I just made the placement matches for my “smurf” and got ranked low plat with 2566 (my main account is in gold). Had plat players in my games since placement match 3, so i think it was kind of earned.
After the last placement i found a group over the group tool (sr +/- 100), we got into a match against a team with lower SR (i know that you loose more SR when your team is in advantage) and lost it really close. I performed pretty good as Zarya (important barriers, decent amount of damage and kills with gold and silver medals, protected my team mates and created Space - we even had a great ult combination with graviton surge and the barrage which killed 4 enemy team mates). Was a nice and really close match tho - the thing is: i dropped to 2504 (!) after this game, thats a loss of 62 (!) SR. WTF Blizzard?
I had a d/c of about 10 seconds at the end of round 2 but the game connected automatically right away. I don’t got a notification that i had been penalized or something - so i think the d/c can’t be the problem.
My question to Blizzard: is this a bug or are you serious about this? Do you let people drop over 60 SR for one lost match? If yes: What kind of experience is this supposed to be? I never lost more than about 25 SR on my main account… How much SR do you drop as a penalty when you leave?
Right now i’m not in the mood to play comp again and that’s a shame because i love this game mode from time to time.

Early wins and losses will affect your SR more than later ones, especially if you’re on a streak. Did you lose the last few placements?
Yeah, that’s, what is sometimes referred to by players as, “uncertainty”. At the start of the season, the system isn’t 100% certain that it placed you perfectly. So your SR will soar like a kite or drop like a rock per win or loss. It really doesn’t matter how much you win or lose initially, as you’ll always climb or drop as you should.
But performanced based SR gain/loss also exists in plat, so if you played poorly, the game knows.
