Overwatch crashing on new PC

Hey i’ve read as many previous posts as i could and i’ve tried loads of “fixes” but nothing seems to have worked.

I got a PC yesterday and it’s been working great except with overwatch. Everything is fine with fortnite but with overwatch the game will freeze maybe 20-30 minutes into playing, sometimes longer, it will offer a report issue page and then i’ll hit the blue screen of death :frowning:

I have:
Ryzen 5 1600, 8GB DDR4, 1050ti, Gigabyte GA 1320m-s2h

What the error log says:

                            ERROR

There is more I can post if you need me to, and other error logs as well

I’ve tried: Disabling Simultaneous multithreading in the BIOS
Changing the maximum processing power to 99%
All drivers are updated
Nothing wrong with the memory - tried the windows memory diagnostic, comes back fine

I have the windows crash reports or more error logs from overwatch to supply if you need more. I’d just like to know if anybody has fixed this…

The current bios version is: American Megatrends Inc F10, 05/12/17 (UK format, december) - i’m not too familiar with the BIOS though, I must say

Thank you in advance!

Hello GazR10,

Have you checked this sticky thread?

If it crashes after a while playing, I would also check temperatures to make sure there’s no overheating:
battle.net/support/article/31363

Close background applications to make sure there’s no other program interfering with the game:
battle.net/support/article/23848

If the issue persists, please create your DxDiag and MSInfo files:
battle.net/support/article/12988

You can paste the content of each file on a web like Pastebin and provide us with the links.

Yes. All Drivers, including chipset drivers, up to date.
BIOS updated.
Temperatures are all fine.
Just crashed again - GPU was under 60, CPU temp under 50

39m

Blue screen - “Hardware”

I’ve already updated BIOS + chipset drivers
All NVidia drivers also updated

[Edited by Delmoryth: data already checked]

Hello again,

We would need to take a look at your MSInfo as well.

Please, make sure you use a page such as Pastebin to paste the content, and then provide the resulting link in the response here. MSInfo will be too big to post in here, and that way the scrolling on the thread doesn’t become too much.

I’m going to go out on a limb here, and guess that your bios is set to automatically overclock both CPU and RAM. It’s usually the default setting, which seems rather stupid…

The Ryzens are notoriously sensitive to overclocking in multithreaded applications, which OW is, so check what your default clocks and multipliers are supposed to be, hop into the bios, and try and figure out a setting that keeps everything running at stock.

If that doesn’t work, open the machine up and make sure all cables and ram sticks are securely socketed.

Like opening the hood of your car when you have a breakdown  .
I thought the OS itself would crash / boot up would fail if there was a loose connection in the hardware components…

Not necessarily. There may be power fluctuations etc that only has an effect under load.
