Rendering Device Lost

I’ve had this crash consistently every half hour or so since November 2018. This has completely wrecked my SR and endorsement level. I’ve combed the forums. I’ve gone through all the help you have here.

Why do I have this problem? I’m pretty sure it’s because I have an RTX 2080 Ti, or, more precisely, that you have failed to address the known problem with them for at least the past 8 months.

Blizzard, you’ve completely destroyed both endorsement and SR system legitimacy by not being able to program for the most popular GPUs on the market.

You become more Activision everyday.

Hello Huflpufnpass,

another user (also with an RTX 2080) encountered this problem as well; I’d advise you to follow this thread and try out the steps listed there:

With all due respect, alot of the “solutions” do not work, or are half measures. The fact remains that Blizzard has a problem with RTX cards and their game. As more and more players adopt RTX cards, this will cascade into a larger and larger problem. This has been happening since RTX cards have been released, and there has not been any solution by either Nvidia or Blizzard

It’s a driver issue, really. Driver optimizations that are too optimistic and doesn’t work very well with multi-threaded rendering.

Hey man, it’s not related to RTX, I have Nvidia GTX 1060 and still got this issue many times. I also tried everything and it just keeps crashing. I am a PC specialist in another gaming company and I can tell this is either on OW side or Nvidia driver side. The only solution possible must come from them, anyway! We can’t do anything about this issue. I’ve lost SR too due to their bugs…

It’s the driver. Read what I linked in the post above yours.

Hey WidowsWail,

Please try the steps in the article here. Additionally if you are on Windows 10, check that the service SysMain is running automatically.

  1. Press Windows Key + R.
  2. Type “services.msc” into the Run window.
  3. Click OK.
  4. In the Name column, locate and right-click “SysMain”.
  5. Select Properties.
  6. Under the Startup Type dropdown menu, select Automatic.
  7. If Service Status does not show Running click the Start button.
  8. Click OK.
