Role Queue is communism

No but if they add slavery to their only modes for Overwatch, then that’d be well within their rights as a company.

You can dislike it, but you still explicitly agreed that they’re allowed to do this when you installed the game. It says so, pretty clearly, btw. That the online experience can change, and it even lays out in what ways and how you have no course for recompense assuming the service is still available, it just changed.

Plus, role queue has worked out well. And I was someone who hated it before it launched. But:

  • Match quality has gone up significantly.
  • Playing DPS actually feels meaningful again because you’re one of only two of them.
  • You can survive things because the enemy also only has two DPS and you have two tanks. No more 4-sniper-crossfire on both sides of the match.
  • Since there’s always two healers around, the team can split up without immediately faltering.
  • Queue times are super low, for someone who ~95% plays support, 4,9% tank, and 0,1% DPS. I just always queue for all roles tbh. But that’s what it turns into.

Honestly, I thought it’d stupid before it got added, but now that we have it, it seems like the right decision. Sure, loads of heroes need a balance pass now with the changed group dynamics. But that’s details work. Can do that later.

That’s the worst part. The change was made to appease people who didn’t like the game to begin with. You play support and you hate the game and you want it to be turned into a regulated turn based MOBA so you can support better. That’s ridiculous.

What you’ve said makes no sense. People complained there’s too many DPS and nobody cares and team loses. But then your problem is you’re bad when the enemy has too many DPS, which in reality doesn’t happen, because imbalanced team lose fast.

I don’t see how this has “removed” choice at all. Before, whenever I wanted to play DPS in a game, three people went ahead before me and picked them. When I, as a fourth person also picked DPS, the whole game turned into a sh*tstorm.

Half of these DPS usually switch to tanks or supports when the team can’t break through. That’s how game was supposed to be played.

No one wants “turn based MOBA”.

But a slower game with an important focus on defensive, support and healing… why not? FPS are a dime a dozen, I don’t need another peek-you’re-dead game, there’s plenty others for that. What makes your opinion that it shouldn’t be slower paced and more built around support inherently more valid?

That’s the true part. The change was made for DPS who wanted to play DPS without guilt and with having proper support and tanking every game. Supports and tanks knew that they always benefitted from the old system, because while the other team was 6 randos (most likely DPS) you had 5 randos + 1 guaranteed tank/support, meaning by playing tank/supp you already had better chances of winning than as a DPS.

Problem is, DPS mains don’t get that it’s a team game and if they want to play the easy roles, they have to queue for longer.

we’ll this is why the US for instance has an adverserial divorce process… couples arn’t evne allowed to share a lawyer to do a simple amicable divorce proceding with one impartial lawyer helping them to colelctivly sort it out or step aside if it does turn adverserial in which case he will represnt neighter party…

but no cant have that…

But that aside… people just ingoring legal contract and being ingorant about what they are signing is bad… in fact its so bad i think the law should nullify such agreements if they are not inteligable enught … if you have to hire a lawyer every time you sign up for a service that that is asking to much!

the industry must be complelleted to go for this legal building block lego-ish solution… and the lawyer can complain all they want!

Role queue ruined what was a fun game now it’s so ****ing dull

Came back after about a year, sees this… thing. This thing is a VERY bad idea honestly, people keep queueing dps, picking Widow+ hanzo and stand at spots that arent the capture point while doing low dps and there is nothing you can do about it. My other healer ended up raging at people and decided to throw the game, and again, nothing we can do about it.
People make this argument that it allows critical roles to always be filled, but what use is a critical role when your basic role is already failing?

It does?

True, but only for DPS (which actually makes it not communism, no?) and tbh I’m completely fine with that : D

Choice of what?

Well I mean, unless you were grouping, every game was pretty much the same even before RoleQ, only differed in ranks. Bronze was those 6 DPS games, GM Goats games.

How?

It… Does?

No? Maybe like mildly annoying for DPS one tricks, but… Mostly, no?

Somebody tell the forums that Jeff isn’t the complete boss of Overwatch

i think they should just have 2 competitive queues : roleq and the old one,

Think this through:
Old queue would only be used by DPS players and of those only the ones that are too stubborn to swap. Now here’s my question: can old queue match against new queue? Because I could tell you who’d win a chill 100% of those matchups. Or would we have not 3 SR (tank, DPS, support) but 4 (tank, DPS, support, old)? The old one would be completely worthless in comparison - so people could just play the old QP instead.

i’m afraid there would be only 2 options now: revert the change or go all the way through and change the game drastically by implementing somethign like my hybrid classes idea (sorry to shamelessly pluging here).
i ended up not playing the game unless there is an event anymore, it’s boring. yet, people drink this all up because papa jeff said it’s good

I was against 2-2-2 from way before it was implemented, because I (as anyone with an IQ over 23) foresaw the long queue times for DPS. I don’t think it should be reverted though, because that would leave everyone unhappy. The best way now would be to work with the data to solve the issues. Couple of steps are very straight forward, a couple are tough.
a) Complete MMR and SR reset. Only this way can we properly divide MMR and SR according to role. Otherwise you get the 2500 DPS main playing his very first game as a support in a 2500 environment - and all 5 team mates will hate him. And they will do so for the next 50 games until he is finally where he belongs. Given how few games people will play in their off-roles, that would take years where every few games you would get one of them and it would suck.
b) Fight against the balance by advertising differently. This isn’t a FPS, it’s a FPSMOBA. People who start because they expect a FPS will only ever look at DPS.
c) Fight against the balance by making support and tank more interesting. That means stronger (which is long overdue after millions of nerfs) but also with a different variety of skill. Does this work? Meh. Hammond is fairly hard mechanically, but that doesn’t make him something DPS mains would be interested in (because for them “mechanic” mostly means “aimy aimy click click”). Ana also barely worked to draw DPS towards support, so this just isn’t the best valve to turn. I mean lever to pull, wrong company.
d) Fight against the balance by bringing out more tanks and supports.
e) Fight against the balance by providing better in-game feedback for tanks and supports. Popups when your heal/shield has saved a life, medals for non-damage assists, medals for saves, more flashy stuff to show what a tank and support actually does in terms of impact.
f) Fight against the balance by encouraging tank and support play - extra chances for bonus loot boxes, maybe extra comp points. And remember: we reset MMR and SR, so the 2500 DPS/1800 support won’t queue for a plat match as support but for silver. So he’s at the level he actually belongs and everyone can live with them doing it for the wrong reasons.
g) Make waiting more satisfying. As time progresses, queue times should become more predictable - so maybe start a death match if you can almost guarantee that people have to wait for at least x min. Have a decent skirmish if it’s not enough time. Maybe do minigames where you have to shoot ducks or something.

i proposed a small change to kinda work in that direction, what do you think about this?

also i would like to point out that this is the absolute oposit of comunism

comunism suffers from people not giving a damn because they will get paid regardless of quality… and maybe a few people struggle to make things work because they actually care while other leach of their effort.
Quick play classic is comunism… and frankly i am a social democrat so i can go for that every now and then :stuck_out_tongue:

2-2-2 is capitalism everyone pays the fair market value in queue time for what they want to play.
this is more fair and hopefully it the invisible hand will get more people to try more hero’s including support and tank and maybe we will get more tank and support mains.

(i view socialism and capitalism as tool boxes and think its wises to freely pick the tool from what ever toolbox fits the situation the best)

(Also there are no gulags though i have suggested turning the Paris map into one to punish leavers)

People don’t care in communism because their efforts won’t matter. 2-2-2 is exactly that. You can no longer step up to the challenge and play smart or make a switch that would win the game. Instead the fate of the match is decided at the beggining. If your tank is slightly better, if your support is slightly more helpful, if your dps can aim slightly better you’ll win. That’s not the Overwatch I signed for.

i would say that 2-2-2 is closer to the introduction of the assembly line vs more generally skilled craftmen… its more efficient in the long run as people can specialize more… but it does loose some level of flexibility.

I think its fine so long as we have quick play classic in the arcade i regularly play both depending on mood or if i am doing my weekly loot boxes.

sure there is frustration but at least in comp it makes all the sense in the world… less so in quick play itself though i think its fine there too…

Because giving us certain freedoms is unacceptable. We must be herded like cattle to satisfy the desire of some people who enjoy rigid systems.

Better than one and a half year of Genji / Tracer / Winston / Dva meta.

except it’s not fun anymore. i haven’t been playing overwatch in almost a month because of this

Nope. It’s dictatorism. What Blizz is doing since a long time. Eliminating player choices creativity and freedom entirely and dare to say anything wrong, you get banned from the forum or game.
