Im playing in gold as support and see some weird stuff…
Same, gold, plat, diamond (depending on RQ or OQ and on account). All you see if people locking Moira and wondering why they have little impact.
But if Moira is their girl, you have no right to tell them otherwise, even if any other support would be better for the team.
I mean you have the right to ask them. But aswell the problem is most of the time they know its not doing anything but they still play the same hero. That makes me question everything
You have the right in theory. But people rarely are polite about it (probably because they are asking because they are frustrated and it just comes out wrong).
You are always better off working round them if you feel flexible, rather than telling/asking people to work around what you think is right.
Sadly, you will also see people who insist the game should be played a certain way (I am sure you’ve seen them on this forum, not going to name names). But sadly, 2 players will likely see 2 problems differently. Whilst one might think the answer is to go Moira, others will think Bap, Brig, Zen, Ana will all offer more value. It doesn’t matter who is right. You play the one you enjoy, and have fun playing.
If you enjoy playing them, you are more likely to play better. In our ranks and lower, enjoying it and performing well is more important than specific comps.
I get what you mean. But on the other side I dont think anyone likes to lose in comp right? So if like someone tells me to switch I do because it could help to win
No one likes to lose. But you can’t win every game.
You are a good egg for that, but they shouldn’t be telling you.
SVB said something that is similar to this conversation.
People complaining or asking for swaps… usually aren’t doing their job in the first place.
Well but I always end up close to gold healing or with gold healing. And its always high for the amount of match time (except sometimes where I just have a bad day or where literally I just get hard rolled).
Without context, the medals mean little to nothing.
You have probably had enough games where the Rein player cries they have gold dmg… Great, well done. But that probably means they are hyper feeding, going in swinging, dying and leaving their team with no space to work in. So DPS won’t be able to do anything of note.
So, for example, if you are playing Mercy Ana, and the Mercy has gold healing, that could be a sign of an issue, and not something to praise the Mercy for. If they let the Ana have some of the healing, you get more nanos. This is why you will see high level Winston players, stand in choke, take some damage and then back off to heal. Just deliberately “feeding” to get nano quickly.
Game really needs a stats board after the match instead of medals… but even then people wouldn’t use it with context and find something to flame someone for. This community is fun like that.
I know I know. But like I play properly most of the time if its possible. Im trying my best to heal as much as possible so when I tell someone to swap to a different character does that mean Im bad or that Im toxic? No I dont think so
As long as you are doing the best you can. Everyone else will be too, and if it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work.
If you spend that time just focusing on you and what your doing, you will win more games. Simple as that.
Yeah but if I notice that something work. Ofc I tell my team about that
Yeah. I get that, but some people don’t want to swap, and don’t want to be told what they are doing isn’t working. So you can try and tread carefully… or just make the best of the situation and crack on with the job.
How can you know if you meet them the first time?
You can’t, so maybe that is the answer. If you don’t know how they will take it, maybe don’t do it.
Imagine how weird it would be if you were walking down the street and someone random behind you told you to walk better.
Yeah but if people take a question like that aggressive then its stupid af
Maybe. But maybe the request also “stupid af”.
What would you pick against a pharah? A Genji or a Soldier/Cassidy? Your Teammate plays Genji again a Pharah. Do you want him to switch or not?
Depends on my role, I am usually tank or support, so D.Va or Zen.
I will always work the map better to negate the impact the Pharah might be able to have.
Yeah but look. You are playing rein atm because the other tank doesnt want to MT. And the Pharah is destroying your entire team. Do you want your Genji to switch to a hitscan to counter the pharah?
If I am playing Rein I am swapping off that asap. And playing Ball. Standing around as Rein against spam is a waste of time.
No. As much as on paper it seems like the right move, they picked Genji for a reason. In gold, it is probably because they enjoy Genji and aren’t comfortable on hitscan.
If I had to ask for a comp, I’d D.Va, Ball, and a Zen. I wouldn’t ask for swaps, I’d say something like “lets try Ball D.Va Zen?” If it happens, lovely, if not, I will have swapped to one of them and will do what I can to help.
