If you hide your profile you have no argument for playing ranked. Its like being part of a working team at a business but refusing to cooperate and hide your work, so everyone else has a harder time.
its a team (Hero) game and whether you like it or not, since we have no role select. We are forced to go off “Who is best and why”.
Now we are facing
-One class one tricks, suddenly wanting to only instant pick dps now, despite the fact, that they have never reached their current SR with those heroes. Putting the whole team at a disadvantage, people are forced and do flex more than i have ever seen, since so many are just private and you cant even ask them a simple “Hey can you play that x character you seem to be good at”
-Strategy and flexing becomes harder, because again, we have no access to a persons hero pool history or anything. Now looking quickly and seeing a guy plays x hero, so that you can ask for a new comp revolving that hero and potentially winning the map, is out the window.
-What good does it help ?
It helps you hide your profile from those, that doesn´t want to do anything but flame you, but those same people will flame you just as hard for having private, cause they know you have it on private cause of some reason that would get you flamed to begin with. It does less good than bad, it removes all communicative statistics that you dont have to ask a person for, it ruins comps and potential flexing and cooperation. Lastly you have a lot of players on roles they have no business being on, if they didnt climb using those rolls. Sure go right ahead and flex dps or tank or support, if your team needs it, no one is mad about that, but dont instant pick DPS over some multiple seasons top 500 dps player, when you spent all your time on tanks/supports to get to a high SR.
And do not for a second think i am calling tanks/Supports bad. I am in no way intending to let that be the meaning of my words. Tanks are the most important players in the game, without them you have no game. Supports come next, cause you need healing. But the difference between all the roles are, that tanks and supports skill sets have and are mostly based in or around Overwatch. A lot of the DPS heroes require the same skill sets and make them equal in Mental/Positioning/Awareness/Game knowledge, but most of DPS require mechanical aiming that is a skill set, that most of the top 1% of dps players, havent gotten through playing overwatch. These players are aiming gods compared to lower ranked players, often cause they have been playing FPS games for close to a decade now, myself included. Something, which tanks and supps often dont have in comparison, which is likely why they chose the role to begin with.
To end with, its just a disruptive feature, that helps what exactly ? As the owner of the post here is clearly aware of, people hate other people with private profiles, cause it sends an incredibly negative picture of yourself if you join a team while hiding all useful information about your hero roster in a team game.
