This profile is Private

People want to see what other people play. Especially if they are joining your group. A Private Profile CAN mean they are going to troll, not cooperate or that they are hiding something. This dosent mean everyone with Private Profiles does these things, but it’s more likely. So people assume they are bad news.

To me, it shows a lack of cooperation and unwillingness to even share what hero you play. Most groups kick people with private profiles as it’s just frustrating.

I don’t see the logic behind this comment.

The sad part of this is that I get such comments into quickplay, I am not a onetrick or anything, sometimes I even get such ‘‘discriminatory cooments’’ from SOME master player in quickplay :s

A profile has a lot of information and it’s handy knowing what characters people are good/comfortable with. Tbh i don’t understand why people set it on private… you can also check the stats from this/previous season so you don’t get the bad stats from when you just started.

Um? 9 times out of 10, a Private Profile means you are hiding something. Something you don’t want others to see. And if you chose to go on private, then don’t expect to be accepted into groups. They know you’re hiding something, so they’re not going to let you join. Again, trolls have private profiles to hide their 100 hours of Torb only. And lastly, if you have a private profile that indicates that you are not willing to share your stats with your team. Thus most likely meaning you are not going to cooperate. That clear things up for you?

I don’t agree with people doing it in Quickplay. Unless you’re in a group. But I 100% think everyone should have public profiles in comp games. Again, especially if you want to join a group. Just saying what hero you main etc isn’t enough. People want to see your stats, games won, games lost etc. So this is just to everyone, if you have a private profile. Don’t get upset when you get instantly kicked out of a group.

I know in comp it may bother, as for me I have private profile since I was bored to read ‘‘you’re level xxx and only rank xxx’’ for one year I had the patience to laugh and shrug my shoulder on it but try to read it each day on each match from the day one…

it may become something really boring (by the way I play only quickplay since season 5-6 (can’t remember now)

About the competitive setting, if someone gonna troll or use his onetrick hero you will see it even with private profile.

I just had a discussion with some guy about it.
He was all for showing your profile. He actually demanded others to show theirs.
Yelling, typing, you know the kind of fellow.
Told him his opinion was the minority opinion.
That most of us prefer to keep our profiles private. Because of guys like him.
He got all mad and frustrated, especially when 3 others in the team agreed with me.
Needless to say he reported me and left.

Sounds like more of an argument lol. But yeah, I in no way agree with how people are doing this. I do think people should have public profiles, and if I am in a group I will ask the person if they can go on public, if they refuse I just kick them. No arguments or yelling at eachother. If you’re willing to cooperate and work as a team, I am not gonna moan at you for having a private profile.

Most people that have private profiles they hide something in my opinion. Like earlier this week i met someone that played like 400 hours total and did more then 300 hours on a widow. If you play that then you don’t get and understand this game. This game is designed to take on a certain role that is needed the most. And not play what you wanna play this is one off the main reasons why this game is become so toxic.

Exactly. There’s literally no other reason to have a profile on private unless you’re hiding something. If you’re so sensitive to people calling you out on stats, then you shouldn’t be playing a multiplayer game.

It actually gets just love (from MY experience).
It’s the loud minority you’re hearing… like everywhere in life.
It has only positive and literally 0 negative effects on this game. If people would actually care to use their brains for once to think about it.
Best patch to hit this game.

people want to mock you for your hero picks, which is difficult to do having no access to your profile.

Not really.Once again this private profile thingy doesnt change that.
If someone wants to flame you for your performance, they will use your profile or any excuse … hell, they will even use the fact that you are “hiding” something as an excuse so no, that changes nothing.

The hate comes with the huge amount of people that just doesnt comm, enters the game “solo mode” like they were playing Skyrim and when you try to fill or flex for the team, you have absolutely no idea what to do.

When something goes bad and you try to find a good hitscan player guess what … you cant. And yes, it happens A LOT. If you comm with your team and hear people’s calls, nobody has a problem, i dont care if you have your profile hidden but if you dont, then theres a problem.

Yeah theres negatives to this patch and its a fact, nobody can deny those points i just made.

Just report and ignore them. Hateful people will find any reason they can to hate on you, even using the fact that you took steps to try to prevent their hate as a reason to be hateful. See, there’s just no winning other than to recognise that their hate is stupid and illogical and move on. At the end of the day you have control over what affects you. Obviously if you’ve got some guy screaming abuse down a mic at you then it’s difficult to blank that out, but that’s why we have mute/report.

nonetheless, you as community are in first line responsible for this change, as (some of) you abused public profiles for exact this purpose of harassing others and their hero picks. Now, deal with it.

and then i would report you and your group for discrimination

What everbody fail to understand is that those people you think have something to hide, that you consider inferior, they’re equally skilled as you. You are not better than them, or you wouldn’t be playing with them.

Your perspective is the same one that has people yelling about ELO hell. You think you’re good and everybody else are bad, when in fact you suck just as much as everyone you play with.

So get off that high horse.

If you hide your profile you have no argument for playing ranked. Its like being part of a working team at a business but refusing to cooperate and hide your work, so everyone else has a harder time.

its a team (Hero) game and whether you like it or not, since we have no role select. We are forced to go off “Who is best and why”.

Now we are facing

-One class one tricks, suddenly wanting to only instant pick dps now, despite the fact, that they have never reached their current SR with those heroes. Putting the whole team at a disadvantage, people are forced and do flex more than i have ever seen, since so many are just private and you cant even ask them a simple “Hey can you play that x character you seem to be good at”

-Strategy and flexing becomes harder, because again, we have no access to a persons hero pool history or anything. Now looking quickly and seeing a guy plays x hero, so that you can ask for a new comp revolving that hero and potentially winning the map, is out the window.

-What good does it help ?
It helps you hide your profile from those, that doesn´t want to do anything but flame you, but those same people will flame you just as hard for having private, cause they know you have it on private cause of some reason that would get you flamed to begin with. It does less good than bad, it removes all communicative statistics that you dont have to ask a person for, it ruins comps and potential flexing and cooperation. Lastly you have a lot of players on roles they have no business being on, if they didnt climb using those rolls. Sure go right ahead and flex dps or tank or support, if your team needs it, no one is mad about that, but dont instant pick DPS over some multiple seasons top 500 dps player, when you spent all your time on tanks/supports to get to a high SR.

And do not for a second think i am calling tanks/Supports bad. I am in no way intending to let that be the meaning of my words. Tanks are the most important players in the game, without them you have no game. Supports come next, cause you need healing. But the difference between all the roles are, that tanks and supports skill sets have and are mostly based in or around Overwatch. A lot of the DPS heroes require the same skill sets and make them equal in Mental/Positioning/Awareness/Game knowledge, but most of DPS require mechanical aiming that is a skill set, that most of the top 1% of dps players, havent gotten through playing overwatch. These players are aiming gods compared to lower ranked players, often cause they have been playing FPS games for close to a decade now, myself included. Something, which tanks and supps often dont have in comparison, which is likely why they chose the role to begin with.

To end with, its just a disruptive feature, that helps what exactly ? As the owner of the post here is clearly aware of, people hate other people with private profiles, cause it sends an incredibly negative picture of yourself if you join a team while hiding all useful information about your hero roster in a team game.
