What is Quick Play?

I know this might be hard for you but try to stop following me around the forums and quoting me like a troll. Private profile, always judging others. How sad.

Please paste where I have “judged” you … And btw, this is a small forum, you’ll likely notice few people replying all the time
Not sure why you write on forums, if you don’t like to interact with your fellow forumers, but … not like I care :stuck_out_tongue:

How you describe it is how I think it should be played, as comp without SR, but if comp is as bad as QP then this game as serious issues.

Comp is miles better than qp. When you have those games where everyone is in vc, doing call outs, focus fire, etc, it’s so a much better experience, knowing you deserve the wins, that you work for with your teammates.

In QP this experience is almost exclusively void.

Comp vs QP is quite a difference experience. I look at QP as just training grounds plus humans.

Damn you didn’t even try to understand.
But I’ll also never understand quickplayers.

It’s not complicated.
Quickplayers only have QP. It’s their comp.
Naturally, they will take QP too seriously and try to enforce (to varying degrees) their version of what QP should be. Imo they are the ones who kind of ruin QP. But everyone is allowed to their own opinion.

Maybe you are the one who ruins QP?
You go to play QP, and you know that most players play only QP … and you intentionally troll, because it’s your opinion that QP is for trolling? And it’s QP players fault?

Oh, I understand. Uncompetitive community in their “you should not try if there are no virtual points involved” story … ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I hear this from every thrower and toxic player I see. Sure, you paid for the game, but so did everyone else you see with you. People can’t “enjoy the game they paid $60 for” if you’re there trash talking them in chat, and doing nothing but

I don’t see how he’s trolling? He’s just trying to get other players out of the habit of only seeing “wins or losses” but instead improving overall as a player.

It’s not trolling, it’s working on improving at certain heroes that you’re interested in, and sometimes that is at the expense of the “win”. You don’t play comp, it’s hard for you to understand this concept. Your world is QP, so naturally the “win” is the most important thing for you. I get it.

Yes, you are the one ruining my qp experience with your damn shield when I want to train my hitscan.
You are the one griefing if you play moira, brig and pharmaercy at qp. So please stop grifing just because it is your opinion that quick play is for griefing.

You can’t seriously compare the best of comp to the worst of QP. I just got into competitive yesterday, and I’ve already seen more throws than I’d ever have done in QP. And that’s not to say that people don’t throw in QP, but it’s much less in my experience. Granted I’ve played a total of 14 comp games, but 2 were thrown, so that’s one game in 7.

I wasn’t comparing extremes at all, I was comparing averages. On average, you can’t even compare the two modes. One has people in VC (mostly), while the other everyone is silent and it’s all guesswork whether people combo or group up or not. Who knows. Even in comp with vc it’s not always a given things go to plan. So imagine QP where almost noone is in vc.

Just had a game where we rolled first round, then the entire team went silent while the double-stack of tanks threw.

VC is great right until the game isn’t going your way, then everyone becomes a mute for some reason. This has never happened in QP, any time someone is in VC they’re in for the game, and the shot calling is always decent.

Oh, you can’t? Because all men are created equal, right?
First of all, I love trash talking, there’s nothing wrong in a bit of challenging other players with usual T-bags, taunts, bit of “ez”, “sit”, etc. - so, obviously that doesn’t stand for everybody.
Also, enjoyment is subjective category as well. Some people can’t enjoy the game when you intentionally pick countered hero, because you’re “practicing”(and die 7 times per minute). So, the same advice can be used for when you have a guy standing still in a corner - get out of habit of winning and losing, but instead improve as a player. Don’t see how’s that one guy sitting in the corner preventing you to improve as a player?

So, people come to play some basketball, and you’re like “guys, I’ll be just shooting 3s - don’t expect me to pass, or get inside” … and first people stop passing you the ball, and then … they just leave. Still, you blame them for “not wanting to improve as a player” … ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
QP is not defined as a “practice mode for comp”. It’s what you want it to be. While I have no problem - do whatever you think you should do - just keep in mind that others may not have the same goals as you do… some may do exact thing you do, some may leave, and some may even report you…

That happens sometimes because when things are going bad, for example, if it’s attack and the team can’t even get 1 tick, it can feel very demoralizing going in to the next round knowing the enemy team have a huge advantage now. I usually try to muster up a “come on team, we got this, we can turn this around”, anything to get team morale up.

Some games just go that way, and you just have to accept the loss. Other games you can come back and get a surprise victory.

I feel like quick play is a mix of people mainly 3 groups : 1) people who mess around 2) whoever wants to practice a new hero or just practice in general 3) casual players who want to win.
so how can you mess around without ruining the game ? how can you practice when your teammates are not trying ? so for people who want to practice before getting in competitive ( or warm up idk ) is quick play actually any good ? what about players who invest like 1 hour or 2 daily on the game, just to have bit of fun.
I thought like maybe split QP in to 2 game modes, one of them would be just a normal QP and the second would “ranked” QP ( for example the players of the match would be close to each other’s level or other parameters ) and then you would have CM. but I’m not really sure how much it makes sense or worth it.
for now i think QP is a bit of a mess.

I accept nothing. The idea that “thrown games are balanced out by you getting carried” is great and all, but I’ve never actually been carried. Here’s an idea; if a teammate has stats that are drastically lower than expected in a given rank, the loss penalty should be reduced. It’s a team game, but why am I penalised for not being able to carry dead-weight?

Yes and no.

Yes it’s good for personal practice, improving aim, positioning, learning more map knowledge, awareness, etc.

But, in terms of comms, working together with your team mates, it’s not very good and can be quite a mess.

I find that using QP for personal improvement, and not focusing and obsessing on the end result (winning or losing) so much has worked much better for me, and is less frustrating. In comp however, I will go full tryhard and switch up picks in order to get the win, vc all the time, etc.

Yes , they should put another rank mode but you don’t lose or gain sr. And this will help people practice a hero, warm or have fun in a normal team com. ( I know you can just create it in custom game and also off-season rank)

Honestly if people want to report others for practising heroes in QP, let them. Not much I can do about that. I’ll only report for toxicity.
