Why does mercy feel so bad this season?

There must be a reason she isn’t played in top ranks or in Esports. Something needs balancing to bring certain characters (not just mercy) up to scratch.

I don’t think that is a bad thing.

But the reason she isn’t played in the highest levels like that is purely a utility thing.

Right now, the meta comp needs speed and brawly AoE heals. Seems the meta is heading to Mauga, Reaper, Sombra, Lucio, Moira

Pocketing a DPS is a waste of time in those comps. In ranked it is different. You can just pocket the DPS that is popping off.

She is the 2nd most picked support and… a high winrate wtf are you talking about…

REZ needs removed… Mercy is basically a WIN BUTTON at ranks where ppl arent using aimbots… Get higher than Diamond its lots of aimbotting… other than that mercy is broken because rez is BS.

PS. Blizzard your higher ranks are full of aimbots, fix it. You are trash devs. Im pretty sure OW2 hasnt suddenly spawned 1000’s of shroud level players.

Slight side note. Did you ever watch shroud when he tried OW2… Oh boy was he bad lol.

Just because her pick rate is high, doesn’t mean she’s in a good place r/n. Like for example her pick rate is 7% with a win rate of 50%, that’s kinda bad. Considering for example moira is only picked at 4% but win rate is higher at 51%. So moira is picked less but wins more than mercy. You do realise mercy is bottom tier support r/n?

She does feel a bit bad right now, but that is mostly due to the bigger bullets that make her easier to hit with her massive wing hitbox. The usual dodge maneuvres just aren’t enough to survive on anymore.

But if she gets adjusted even slightly stronger, everyone will scream for nerfs on her even if nothing changes in practice.

The damage boost utility should get reworked a bit though, give it some form of a limit so people wouldn’t scream about it so much (at that point maybe some number adjustments as well).
A limited dmg boost would also force people slightly away from the pocket playstyle, making a mercy player feel less like they are chained to a single dps the entire game and be unable to escape if the said dps was not aware of their surroundings enough.

That said, i wouldn’t mind if her weapon swap was faster to allow for quicker playstyle adjustments and ease dealing with the buffed up flankers, since dodging is out of the question with these bullets.
Or a slightly longer ga distance.
Those wouldn’t really give her much since very few mercies actually start shooting even if it’s the only option left, but it would allow a fraction more shooting time and maybe a clutch escape before we perish.

The only ones who get any proper value out of mercy right now are either really specialized or being carried by someone.

Another problem is you get people who basically dedicate themselves to hating mercy even though she’s bottom tier support are still moaning that she needs a nerf :rofl::skull: these people are definitely stuck bronze/silver.

Honestly, i think every hero has their personal hategroup. Some have a bigger one and some have a smaller one.
Usually either because of a single ability or looks.

Sometimes i feel that mercy’s hate group is the loudest though.

The only thing I don’t want to see from Mercy is her being meta.

She should be the absolute middle of the road for supports.

Two sides of the same coin. I think the Mercy mains are probably the most vocal of the support players too.

And quite a few are terribly defensive of her too.
I’d like to hope that i m not the worst when it comes to that.

Everyone would love for their main to be relevant, i just want her to not get complained about constantly while she’s at a very low tier XD

True. It would be amazing if Ball was OP. But it’d be terrible for the game as a whole.

I think, like with a lot of issues people have, people only look at their own screens. They don’t consider the bigger picture.

If Hog, ball, doom, mercy, Genji are op, the quality of the games significantly drops. These are heroes that should be viable, but never meta.

You can probably add Mauga to that list too as the Mauga meta is boring.

I can argue for 1 or half a season in a spotlight, but after that it gets too much. More for some heroes than others.

I do feel like orisa has been on the stronger side for a good while now, and hopefully the damage roster will get looked at while they’re figuring out the new passive. (And that they won’t end up overtuning the rest of the tanks while reigning these ones back soon)

Yeah Orissa has been, she’s always the princess never the queen. Strong, but never THE pick.

Like right now. She’s pretty strong. But Mauga is meta, JQ trumps her in rush. Sigma and Ram both probably stronger.

Next season they’ll pointlessly buff her again rather than nerfing Mauga lol

Orisa is a pretty decent all rounder. There’s something she can do against every tank.

This is definitely the start of a new round of power creep on the tanks.
They should start nerfing rather than buffing the heroes.

I hope they don’t ruin ball’s movement with the incoming rework (i’ve gotten slightly better at him, and i’d hate for you ball mains to have to unlearn years of muscle memory).

Yeah, if they kill his mobility, he’s dead a a hero.

I’m just hoping for one or two of…

a burn effect when fire balling through people (with slightly lower initial impact dmg)

Fraction more damage on his primary fire.

Revert of the ult nerf.

I’d also remove the spawn cooldowns on grapple. If everyone has their mobility immediately, he should too.

I’d even just take the return of infinite grapple. People will cry “spin to win” but no good player did that. It was a pointless tactic that earned nothing. (Plus you can kill his momentum with a well timed mêlée anyways)
