Why does nobody want to play support?

How are you feeding if you’re dealing damage? I think you misunderstand that “feeding” means giving ult charge to the other team when you shouldn’t (i.e. a roadhog using his selfheal when he’s the last alive instead of just dying)

You CAN be feeding if you’re dealing pathetic increments of damage (feeding their supports), but zen does HIGH damage.

Feeding, as in getting yourself killed as a support for no reason --> feeding the enemy DPS/tanks free ult charge. Like deciding to go frontline as Zen and trying to get picks instead of healing teammates. It’s not as if you couldn’t do it, but if you die or someone else dies because of no heals, people blame you for it. When you do the same as Hanzo and die, it’s just “unlucky” or meaningless “dps suck hurr hurr” at the most.

It was just a sarcastic comment related to “why does nobody want to play support?” and how the POTG doesn’t often reward supports.

There was no bait at all dumbass. If you could actually make a point, then there’d be a point.

Zen is a support/dps hybrid. Of course you’d know that if you actually had the ability to play him.

You don’t.

Wasn’t intended, but seemingly you got somehow triggered by my comment, so you went for flaming about hero selection and Sym turret profile picture that has nothing to do with anything. I don’t play Zen, and never said I would. Completely irrelevant here.

I was trying to make it even more clear, but felt like reading the same text again, so removed it. If you can’t figure out what I meant when I described all the obstacles for the support to make equally impressive mechanical play in the eyes of the game AI, can’t help it.

Nothing triggered at all, just making the obvious point.

You don’t play Zen (gee I wonder why), which explains why you don’t seem to realise that if a Zen is fragging he’s not feeding. He can heal and damage at the same time.

Not my problem if not only do you fail to make a point, you show how dumb you are. Now trying to backtrack claiming something something about potg

The potg was already the topic of my first reply to the other guy, but you never read anything else about it than the part where I said that pressing Q is indeed easier than a team wipe. You play support and don’t get rewarded for that Q, but you most of the time can’t go full DPS (even as Zen) due to being a valuable pick, so won’t be getting the play of the game from that either, even if you could perform it as a DPS.

And if you bothered looking at my post, you’d see exactly what I was replying to.

You don’t get rewarded for the Q that saves the team from a teamwipe? Are you that dense? As for not going full DPS as Zen - JJonak. You can DPS as a Zen easily if you know what you’re doing.

Cleric was talking about the potg on specific, which rewards multi-kills usually more than support ults. I guess it’s not a matter of supports not being rewarding then, but people don’t know what they are doing? Or is it just for the Zen?

Ryujehong - sleep darting a Genji / Tracer / [insert character here] to deny an ult or team combo or anything = immense satisfaction.

Lucio - timing Soundwave to deny a riptire or any other spike damage ult

Zen - have already mentioned

Supports can “pop off”, it just depends on skill but there’s nothing non-rewarding about any of it, nor are supports not allowed/not supposed to be able to DPS. Some are just better at it than others.

Never have a problem with getting supports… no one wants to play maintank though

I agree that tanks (especially players that MAIN tank, instead of flexing when being asked to) are even rarer than good support. Both are lacking though.

Tank is a really hard job to play well, which may factor into the problem. At low ranks its also extremely unrewarding, because tank is the role that requires that people co-operate with it the most. A lonely tank is a dead tank.

I remember a symptomatic case of the above in one of my early comp games way back before the LFG feature. We were on Nepal sanctum, I had to pick up Rein as solotank cause nobody else was willing. When we went in, I said on voice “I go right”. Then I go right. Everybody else goes left. LITERALLY EVERYBODY. Whats the point of playing tank in an enviroment like this? Whats the point of Rein that is protecting nobody with his shield?

ps. One thing to think about: tanks almost never get cards in the end, unless they are dps cards like most kills, most kill participation, or just plain 3+ golds cards… Devs should think about what how rewarding playing tank feels.

POTG shouldn’t be your concern in competitive.

Tank cards include the following :

Objective Time
Deaths
More Objective Time
Damage Blocked
OBJECTIVE TIME AND NOTHING ELSE

Maybe team not helping but afk
