Can't install SC2 on Win10 - UNC mapped %HOMESHARE%

I cannot install SC 2 on my new Windows 10 computer.

I am admin in the PC and can install e.g. SC 1.

When installing SC2 i get trouble code BLZBNTAGT0000084B.

Looking at the Agent logs the problem is that SC2 cannot acquire security info from my %HOMESHARE% folder. My HOMESHARE folder is an UNC mapped network drive.

There is a known Windows 10 “bug” that GetFileSecurity cannot be used on UNC mapped NW drives in Windows 10 in the same fashion as it could be used in earlier windows versions. I would guess this is the fault.

I cannot re-map %HOMESHARE%. Can I get SC2 to not use it?

Hi Robban,

It’s worth trying these steps to see if it will help:

Try to use any other folder name instead of “D:/Program Files”. So it will work fine if you install it under “D:/XYZ/GameName”.

From Abraham to be Isaac. when other people forget about Isaac or Jesus it will be you instead, Abraham, who gets away with it all.
