A group of boosters is trying to mass report me to get me banned

After I confronted a guy for being too in sync with his “random solo queue group”, a group of people started whispering greeting messages to me, probably trying to get the option to report via my character name to show up. I figured this out and logged off when I noticed 3 random people messaging back to back random messages. What should I do?

Nothing. Next time report them if you think they are bots. Don’t confront them. You are not the police. Report move on.

Thats weird, what doesen’t mean in sync with his solo queue group?

If they were boosting somebody and wanted you to pay (probably in LFG I assume? Probably timewalking boosts?) They could have kicked you after many runs, with no problem.

If they were boosting a guy, because it was a friend or something, I see no wrong on it.

Anyway, just ignore them, and if you feel that they have done something weird to you, you can just report and ignore every player.

Unless you have done something not legal, you don’t have to worry about a thing my friend.

EDIT: Ok, so thats an open world farming situation. Nah, those must be bots and you just report them and ignore. If they want to mass report you, it’s a big problem, just don’t reply they will forget your name in 2min.
You see, WoW’s report system has been automatised since Legion I believe, or even earlier, and mass report exploits occur just to abuse the “autoban” feature. Just dont show up or reply them, ignore and open a ticket if you want, so in case that something goes wrong, you have the proof in this forum and in the ticket.

I can’t just not do anything. Because they can resume on whispering me at any point. and continue to report me. Enough reports will trigger the auto-ban system. I will submit a ticket right now.

Your initial course of action should have been to report and move on. Let Blizz do the legwork, you just carry on playing the game.

Report them. If I had sit there and reported one by one, more of them would’ve whispered me. And reported me from my name. Which would trigger the auto-ban system. If you are reported a number of time. You get automatically ban.

Reality is that enough players can get you banned with no reason, triggering autoban from the warden automatised security system. There’s no true legwork, we are alone 99%. Be cautious. You can just play another character for 1 day if you see that they are perma whispering. Or, we as community, could mass report them if they are botting. Don’t say the name of any player, but what’s the group name, server, zone and activity that these guys are doing?

From what I remember you only need to report 1 of them ( Could be wrong, but pretty sure I read that somewhere) At the end of the day, are they ruining your game? We all know Blizz are slow to react to botters. I am not saying its right or its ok. But if you feel like you could be punished because of them, then maybe just move on?

What does that even mean? What’s the context?

I´m not even entirely sure what you´re trying to say here, as even in solo shuffle (PvP) you can queue with 2 or more players… there is AFAIK no real way in any mode to verify if someone queued as a premade or not… But it´s not really relevant, either…

Ignore then report for spam, in that order. Ignore so they can no longer whisper you, report to get their activity looked at.

As far as the “but they keep whispering me and I get a ban” excuse, again, ignore, report, and if you do get a ban, open a ticket.

Because at the end of the day, if you report them, something might happen, and might not. But if you don´t report them, it´s guaranteed that nothing will happen and it will continue…

Do you want to experience the same thing again tomorrow? Then don´t report them, but then you also have no reason to complain about it happening, because you could have done something about it but decided not to. :beers:

I believe he was cheating, is what I’m trying to say. The fact that he sent a bunch of people to mass whisper and report me only reinforces my conviction that he was definitely cheating.

I wish I could just do that. But if you receive a number of reports, the game just bans you automatically.

Like I mentioned I was gonna do that. But this would have exposed me to more incoming whispers and reports from them. I took a screenshot and logged out as a way to prevent more incoming whispers.

I have submitted a ticket. So I won’t let them get away with this, for my sake and for any other potential future victims.

Why are they reporting you though? Because you aggravated them into saying you were going to report them? Thats why I initially said that you should have just reported them and move on. You are not the police.

So youre banned now? Or you didnt even try to report them?
Either ignore and report or do nothing, those are your options.

Yes, this is the big variable here, how exactly the “confrontation” started… after all, they way most players feel is normal to communicate with other these days would have then booking dentist appointments or calling emergency services if done IRL… Not saying that was or wasn´t the case, merely that it is currently an unknown factor that may or may not be significantly relevant.

And the proof are?
Like who tf are you to go around accusing people of cheating?
I would have reported you as well if i got accused of cheating out of nowhere by a randos.

If you have proof open a ticket/report the player. There is no point in telling them besides them reporting you back.

Make it a lesson and shut up next time.

I don’t know but that reply feels sus, and seems like you got triggered by the post for some reason.

Are you cheating? Or moreover; are you the guy who is harrassing the OP? That’d be wholesome.

I am not triggered bud, thats the tone you decided to give to my reply in your mind.

The context that was given is minimal, aka “OP confronted someone accusing them of cheating”.

  • based on what? What made op so sure? “Too in sync” means nothing.

  • why confront the supposed cheaters? What are you going to accomplish by that besides getting reported back?

  • what you expect will happen if you accuse someone of being a cheater? Even if they are not, i doubt they will be happy to be reported.

My character are all trackable, got nothing to hide, besides the fact that i have “played” pvp like twice in the last 8 years and not in TWW. Sorry to burst your bubble.

If anything its kinda weird behavior to think that cause someone disagree they got something to hide.
But you do you

Chill myfriend, you are seemingly more sus with those replies.

Too in sync, in the eyes of a newb, can be a thing to see. If in WoW SoD or Classic a new player could spot a hunter bot by far, because of you know, the patterns, even a new one in retail could at least suspect of what a player is doing. Not gonna lie, I’ve mastered the eye of spoting bots, 100% accuracy, just by watching few seconds of gameplay, but enough bragging.

Comfront the cheaters is bad, indeed, just report and move on, however, some players react different and maybe get mad depending on the situation (mob camping, or whatever other plausible reason).

If you acuse somebody from cheating and it turns out it is false, and the reported one knows, why would that second one bother? Happened to me few times in arena games, or solo shuffles, where people would whisper me “cheater” just by predicting somebody’s ability with shadowmeld several times. I would take it as a compliment so no probs.
Now, getting tilted at somebody accusing you from cheating, means that you are not a cool chill dude and that you are doing something that could be seen as cheating or exploiting. So, reacting negatively to somebody who calls you cheater, is sus. xd

Yep, and still to this day there is people occasionally say the system is not abused or that it works. It was abused in various ways even back in vanil when people spam report other teams healers to get booted out of the game so they get free win. Its extremely bad report system and its extremely hard to appeal on anything or get human to help :dracthyr_shrug:

Its good you didnt reply anything to them as then they get something to click on chat to make false language report, and nothing much else you can do about it. I usually play shuffle/blitz chat disabled if I can and try my hardest to not speak into chat anything cause this and the amount of random people I see through day with each having the possibility of being salty or the like and making report out of spite on something Ive said. It can be calling targets or calling incs on bases and then you would see warning pop up after weekend playing these said soloq modes so obviously people do report anything.

In general i would agree, but given Blizz support system beig dogpoop, where even the amount of report matters, i would not be happy to know i got reported cause someone lost and told everyone to report me with false accusations dont you think?

If there are proof send them to Blizz.
