[A-RP]Ka'Dath Thoribas - Kaldorei Festival of War & Tournament [22nd August - 30th August] - SIGN UP THREAD

:new_moon: Ka’dath Thoribas – We Who Fight - 22nd Aug - 30th Aug (ALLIANCE ONLY)

We gather now, where the land slumbers eternal, bathed in her pale, calming light, and above lingers the endless dark, the shade in which we walk. We asked not for her patience, for we have renewed our lands, our people, and stand ready, as we bear the scars of these past years with fervour and grace.

We gather now, where the land knows no future. All of the endless chances of what could have been lay beneath endless winter, choked still by the unyielding frost. Yet still, we wonder in its beauty, and dream of what was. We ask not for her fortitude, for we see that which was lost, steel ourselves from grief, and fight on in its name.

We gather now, where the land offers no deliverance, and every frigid breath drawn must be fought for, and clung to like the last Autumn leaves. We ask not for her strength, for through our devotion, our rage, and our faith, she will have no choice but to grant it.

We gather now. Ka’dath Thoribas.

Location: Winterspring - Starfall Village
Dates: 22/8/25 - 30/8/25

Welcome!

Ka’dath Thoribas is an 8 day long festival and tournament in the name of the Night Warrior, the most ruthless face of the Goddess Elune. All members of the Alliance are welcome to participate and attend.

Acts of worship, offering, and veneration of the ruthless nature of vengeance are welcomed and encouraged, and aid in the embracing of the warrior culture of the Kaldorei. Duel and old foe, or bury the hatchet? Scatter the ashes of your slain enemies, or offer their weapon to the Goddess as a show of respect? However you worship, be welcome!

Along with the eight combat events, there will be a number of none combat activities to participate in.

Tournament Events – All will begin at 19:30ST

Friday 22nd Aug - The Long Starlit Road & Opening Ceremony

The Long Starlit Road - Come walk the long starlit road, and let the frozen air fill your lungs, and gnaw at your fingers. Savour each moment, that long march of restless hearts before the coming battle. March with us, beneath the gaze of those who no longer can, and ride eternal at her side.

Prior to the festival beginning, all military forces of the Alliance are welcome to join in a pilgrimage through Winterspring. This will begin at Timbermaw Hold and end at Starfall Village.

Please feel free to reach out if you or your guild would like to participate, or just show up on the evening! This is intended as an opportunity to show off your guild pride, so formations, banners and uniforms are all encouraged, but not necessary. Those who aren’t in a guild are just as welcome.

(All Sentinels rpers, ex or current, are encouraged to don the Sentinel crown!)

The festival will then be opened with a short ceremony, where a chance to show reverence to the Night Warrior will be allowed.

Saturday 23rd Aug - Ma'thoril (Mass Brawl)

Unmoving, unwavering, unbroken

Be welcomed upon the ice, where the timeless wander above and below. The steadfast warrior watches their footing, and measures each crack in their surface with treacherous foreboding. Welcome each strike with fists of frost, and strike back in turn.

One will remain.

:facepunch: Ma’thoril (MASS BRAWL) NO SIGN UP REQUIRED

Dress code - An article of clothing that is red to signal you are taking part.

This event can be attended by all, even if you have signed up for another event!

(This will be a long event, please be aware of this!)

Ma’thoril is an elimination gauntlet of unarmed duels, set upon the ice of Lake Kel’theril. At the beginning of the event, all who wish to participate will be welcomed onto the ice. After the event begins, any on the ice will be considered a combatant, and can be offered or provoked into a 1-1 unarmed duel.

If you refuse the duel or lose, you leave the ice and are eliminated.

Bouts must be decided with the D20 attack/defend system, but if both players are in agreement, this can be waved to reflect a reasonable outcome.

Players will begin the event with 3HP, and this will carry across ALL duels, regardless of how few or many. Winning a duel will reward 1 HP back up to the starting value.

The last remaining player will win the event. Emotes should be kept to 2-3 paragraphs.

Sunday 24th Aug - Rhok'Shalloril (Archery)

A gust of frozen wind, the snap of a string, the long dark.

The Night Warrior beckons to this most sacred right of ours, to bend and creak beneath the crushing weight of the sky itself ,only to cast our ire, swift and silent as the falling starlight.

Blessed be your aim, by eye or by faith.

:bow_and_arrow: Rhok-Shalloril (ARCHERY) 8 SLOTS

Rhok’shalloril is an archery contest consisting of five rounds. There are two skill brackets for the contest. Please specify which bracket you are applying for.

Been practising archery for under five-hundred years – Novice
Been practising archery for over five-hundred years – Adept

The contest will be decided with dice rolls of D100 in five rounds. Each competitor will be given five arrows, and will take five shots at a chosen distance each round.

The requirements to hit the target at each distance are:

Close – 20 – 2 point
Medium – 50 – 4 points
Far – 70 – 6 points

No misses bonus – 5 points

The player must specify which distance they are aiming for per round, and scoring in the higher bracket will not award you extra points. Example: Player 1 decides to aim for medium and rolls a 78. They will still only receive 4 points.

Each round a target will be thrown into the air, and players can choose to use an arrow to attempt to hit the moving target instead for 10 points. A roll of 90+ will be required, and the highest roller above 90 will hit the target first.

The highest scorer at end of the game will win the event.

Monday 25th Aug - Enduoril'ashar (Beast Brawl)

Cry to the wild, and listen closely for its call, by tooth and claw she answers.

The blaze of countless stars shine down upon the frozen stones, and grant us the wisdom to wield their gifts. Gather now, creatures great and small, and measure your strength against one another, in sight of the wild gods.

The strong survive.

:bear: Enduoril’ashar (BEAST BRAWL) 8 SLOTS

Enduoril’ashar is a series of duels between Druids in their chosen Druid form, or Beast Masters of the Alliance.

Druids can enter in any animal form. Beast Masters can enter with any animal companion or mount. (Sorry, no elemental/demon/robots!)

Duels will be settled with the D20 attack/defend system, but depending on the combination of characters, the rules may change.

Druid Vs Beast master

Druids in their forms have 6HP instead of 3, regardless of their chosen form. Beast Masters will attack twice per round, and roll 2 D20’s instead of one, to attack fo themselves and their pet. The beast master can only fight with a wooden staff.

Druid Vs Druid / Beast master Vs Beast master

Standard D20 3 HP rules will apply. Beast masters will command their companions to fight from the sidelines, or atop them.

Emotes should be kept to 2-3 paragraphs

Tuesday 26th Aug - Irana'alator (Stalking)

The unseen strike is the most deadly

We gather here to marvel at her light, but walk always in her dark, the duplicitous dance of the Night Warrior. The shadow of the night shrouds us in her loving embrace, and we bend the wild itself into a dance of lethal steps.

Walk in her dark.

:ninja: Irana’alator (STALKING) 8 SLOTS - Dress Code - Camouflage/snowy stealth!

Irana’alator is a competition of stealth, where a stalker must stalk through a valley unseen, and fire off a shot at the Sentinel guard. A ranged weapon must be used in this challenge. (Stringed or thrown, no guns!)

The Sentinel guard will stand watch at the top of the valley, and if a stalker is seen, will be shot and eliminated from the competition. The game will consist of five rounds of rolls, where competitors success in moving up the valley unseen will be determined by a D100.

Stalkers will have three opportunities to remain in the competition (HP). Rolls represent a certain outcome. The lowest dice roll will always decide their action first, in ascending order:

1-5 – The player makes a sudden movement and sound loud enough to be heard by the Sentinel, and will be shot and eliminated regardless of their HP. The Sentinel can only shoot one person per round, and will aim for the lowest roller.

6-30 – The player makes a sound, but it was not loud enough to give away their position to the Sentinel, they lose 1 HP if they continue moving, but can choose to remain still for the round. Other players who roll above 90 can CHOOSE to shoot and eliminate them if they move regardless of their HP.

31 – 50 – The player made a sound, and if they continue moving, will make more noise. The player can choose to remain still for the round and be safe, or lose 1 HP.

51 – 89 – The player moves silently to the next point.

90 – 99 – The player moves silently, and detects another player. They can CHOOSE to eliminate one player that rolled under 31, or that choose to move when rolling under 30.

100 – The player moves silently, and can choose to detect and eliminate ANY player, regardless of any other rolls that round.

If a player survives all five rounds, they make it to the top of the valley, and have a chance to attack the Sentinel. A player must roll 80+ to shoot the Sentinel and win the game. If two players roll over 80, the highest will be considered the faster shot and winner. If no players make it to the top of the valley, the last remaining player will win.

Only one shot per round can be taken in any given round. If you roll a 90+ and decide to shoot another player, you cannot then shoot the Sentinel if at the final point in that round.

The Shadow’s Gambit

When someone makes it to the top of the valley, the player may choose to run the Shadow’s Gambit, where they will attempt to melee the Sentinel instead of shooting them.

A player must roll 70+ for three rounds. This is particularly risky, as other players can still roll to shoot at the Sentinel during this time, and all other rules are in effect.

(This is an incredibly risky choice, but comes with endless glory and a secret prize!)

Wednesday 27th Aug - Tlara'nir (Flyting) & Anu Dorah

When armed only with words, cut deep and aim true.

The T’lara howls and goads and barks, and upon their foes skin leaves few cuts or marks. Yet one who hones their craft, and stones the tongue as scared steel, can leave a wound that festers, and will never truly heal.

Spit forth the storm, and win her favour.

:microphone: T’lara-nir (FLYTING) 8 SLOTS

T’lara-nir is a lyrical challenge, where competitors will go one-on-one in a battle of rhymes. The aim of the challenge is to sway the judge and crowd to your side, by composing the most compelling rhyme.

This should be roughly two or three sentences, based on your opponent. This can be done through insults, boasting or trying to sway the crowd to your side through flattery or humour. (This challenge is based on flyting, an archaic form of rap battles. No modern reference or beat boxing or the Night Warrior will be under your bed tonight.)

The crowd will vote by moving to the side of the hall that they think should win, and the person with the larger crowd at their back will win 1 point. The judge will also vote, and award 1 point. The competitor with the most points will proceed to the next round. If the points are tied, both shall proceed.

Losing a bout will eliminate you from the competition. The bouts will continue until one person remains as the winner.

Anu Dorah - We fight and we fall, only to rise again at her side. Their names and their deeds live on through us, and this night, we shall speak them true.

Attendees are welcome to share stories, songs, poems or prayers for those that have fallen, have carried out deeds of strength, bravery, or vengeance. All tales of heroes are welcome, however great or small.

Thursday 28th Aug - Shinu'ashar (Outlander Duels)

Be you a child of the stars, or one who simply marvels them, within you beats a heart as wild and blazing.

Those that live far from her light and slumber through her dark, that clad themselves in iron, and hack and slash and bellow so ungracefully. We marvel the gnarled bark of the great hemlock, and revere its beautiful imperfection.

Whatever deity you covet, may they be with you.

:crossed_swords: Shinu’ashar (OUTLANDER DUELS) 8 SLOTS

The Shinu’ashar is a tournament of 1 on 1 duels for all members of the Alliance to partake in and display the fighting prowess of other races and nations!

These are intended to be purely martial, so no magic or spells are allowed. A bout will consist of players taking turns rolling D20 for attack and defence until a player is struck 3 times. Players are welcome to give or take hits if they think the situation is reasonable, but are not obligated to under any circumstances.

Emotes should be kept to 2-3 paragraphs

Friday 29th Aug - Lune'ashar (Moonglaive Gauntlet)

To fight, and fall, for that which is pure and just.

This is her charge, and none bear it more steadfast than those that strike with her blessing. The Moonglaive, a symbol of our people and an unwavering companion to the Sentinel and the Watcher, the arbiters of her will, be they driven into the hearts of the unyielding, or guided into the backs of the craven.

A crown of frost awaits her champion, one as certain as morning frost, and as steady as the twin trees.

Come and claim it.

:last_quarter_moon: Lune’ashar (MOONGLAIVE GAUNTLET - NIGHT ELF ONLY) 8 SLOTS

The Lune’ashar is a two-part Moonglaive gauntlet for Night Elves only. You do not have to be a sentinel or a watcher to partake, but you MUST fight with a Moonglaivem and in the name of the Goddess. (Sorry, no Demon Hunters!)

Event 1: A tournament of one-on-one duels will be fought between all competitors. Each win is worth more, the first 3, then 5, then 8. A loss will eliminate you from the tournament. A bout will consist of players taking turns rolling D20 for attack and defence until a player is struck 3 times. Players are welcome to give or take hits if they think the situation is reasonable, but are not obligated to under any circumstances.

Any disputes will be resolved by the organisers.

Event 2: Targets will be swung from the trees, and each player will roll one D20 to represent their reaction time and aim. The highest roll will gain 3 points for that round, the 2nd highest will gain 2 points, and the 3rd will gain 1 points. This will continue for 5 rounds.

The highest overall scorer in the 2 events will win the tournament overall. The scoring system is intended to display from an IC perspective that the character is proficient in both throwing and fighting with the glaive. Emotes should be kept to 2-3 paragraphs.

Saturday 30th Aug - Award & Closing Ceremony

Winners will receive their awards, and after a closing speech, all attendees will be given their chance to show themselves worthy of the Night Warrior’s blessing in the most brutal bout of all…
