AB: LM = Mine, 14 Yrs!

Arathi (AB) BG has been out for 14 years and to this day so many still insist that LM is not only faster to reach and strategic better since you can fly to ST/BS/Farm from it.

Over the course of an entire game, that is simply false.

You can fly down to mine and get to other Flags/Points just as fast as you would from LM.

Can you even use Goblin Gliders in Rated? I don’t know but in random BG most games I’ve won, we had Mine -especially sicne alliance always zerg LM.

Youre wrong.

LM allows you vision over 4 flags at the same time. As a DH you can be at LM … and glide to BS, stables or farm within seconds if help is needed.

Once youre at mine you dont see sh*t and cant glide or slow fall anywhere.

Ahem, Arathi Basin veteran here and I’d just like to say… Vilroth is right and you’re wrong. :stuck_out_tongue:

I am 1800 xp, so I might not know the true reason why people go LM instead of mines as Alliance.

If you go for the triangle, Stables, Mines and Blacksmith and await an incoming attack, you would positon yourself in the middle of all bases. if mines then comes under attack you can glide to flag instead of running. For LM you can only run.

I don’t entirely buy the argument regarding that you as a DH can glide everywhere. You can glide to BS, but both farm and stables will be too far away. Besides, if a DH is defending LM and leaves, LM is now vulnerable for ninja picking.

I think Horde setup is LM, BS, Farm and Alliance is Stables, mines, blacksmith.

Again, please let me know if my logics are completely flawed

That makes no advantage … Flags are never left unguarded ! Logic man … Also, not every one is a DH

Its not about being unguarded…its about helping at flags when needed.

So lets says im fighting at LM and we are about to win it. I can move to Black smith or farm or wahtever flag needs help at that time. All within a few seconds.

Going back from mine to BS/ stables or farm takes longer + u risk getting sapped or slowed.

Im 3100 max experienced and i explained it it in my post. …

Indeed, both LM/Mine are possible to win with and have advantages. On a lock I love mine due to gate placed from flag to top of roof … Healers love it.

Ways to kite at Mine doesnt make up for the higher vantage point and easy glide or slow fall to nodes.

There isnt a single top RBG player that prefers mine over LM, if they could pick one.

No doubt the game can be won with any combination of bases. But LM provides both a near full view of the BG and much easier access (for anyone investing in gliders not just DHs) to defend BS as a central point. From BS you’re riding from the hut, across the bridge and then gliding down to the mine. From LM you glide and you’re there within 7 seconds.

Farm and ST are pretty much the same distance so if someone calls movement to LM either side can respond with equal force. Whereas mine is very open to attacks from BS and if you’re sitting with farm and mine you wouldn’t have a clue without someone ST or LM calling incs.

p.s. I personally love mine as well. I used to disengage on the top of the flag and camo up, frustrating melee and buying enough time for help, but I have no doubt LM is a tactically superior choice for the team as a whole.

Minor note for RBGs. There was a time in MoP when, because of the strength of Afflock Moonkin as a 2v2 comp, some top teams were happy to give up LM and send Lock Moonkin to mines for the superior defensive positioning with gate and portal.

That was a long long time ago though. Now nobody would prefer Mine over LM, as a base to have.

Basic military tactics… High ground > low ground

It is literally one of the first things you learn in tactics training.

It’s over Taigertraps, I have the high ground.
