For players that are unable or unwilling to use Dragon Riding as it exists now, I’m curious if you think the feature set below would work for you.
It allows for pausing mid-flight as well as the relaxed, left-hand keyboard flying possible with normal flying mounts. I’d be circling overhead for days if these were in the game right now…
-
Slow Down ability added. (The effect ramps up over 1 second and ramps down over 1 second. While in full effect, it reduces current speed by 10% per second. The speed reduction decreases along with current speed, so it gets more delicate the slower you go. This is a press-and-hold movement control with no cooldown.)
-
Connection of Slow Down to the Move Backward action added as a toggle (default ON) in the Options > Accessibility > General tab.
-
Hover ability added. (When flying, the dragon instantly stops in a hover, losing all momentum and freezing Vigor. When toggled again, the dragon instantly stalls, forcing the player to choose either diving or using Vigor.)
-
Connection of Hover to the Toggle Autorun action added as a toggle (default ON) in the Options > Accessibility > General tab.
-
Take Off ability added. (If already autorunning on the ground, Surge Forward initiates a Take Off using 1 Vigor. The dragon runs forward and reaches a level glide at 400% speed, but only a few meters above the ground. If done uphill without avoiding the ground, the dragon will quickly land and waste the Vigor.)
-
Connection of Surge Forward to the Move Forward action added as a toggle (default OFF) in the Options > Accessibility > General tab.
-
Cruise ability added. (If flying level +/- 10 degrees and at 300%-500% speed, Start Autorun initiates braking/acceleration to reach a 400% speed level Cruise. While cruising, holding Jump[Spacebar] temporarily pitches 10 degrees above level and holding Sit/Move Down[X] temporarily pitches 10 degrees below level. Vigor is neither used nor gained while Cruising. Surge Forward, Skyward Ascent, Slow Down or exceeding +/- 10 degrees from level will cancel Cruise.)
-
Skyward Ascent’s connection to the Jump action becomes a toggle (default ON) in the Options > Accessibility > General tab.
-
Slip (Left/Right) ability added. (While cruising, the Strafe Left and Strafe Right actions cause slipping left/right, which is essentially banking without turning. This is a press-and-hold movement control with no cooldown.)
-
Turn Wide ability added. (While flying, combining Turn Left + Strafe Right or Turn Right + Strafe Left causes a wider turn. This is a press-and-hold movement control with no cooldown.)
