According to few sources and Jeff Hamilton - WoW development is halted

Sounds like you’ve never been employed.

trying to be posititve here, lemme think!
dev halted then its a longer season

more chances for you all to get the seasonal pvp and pve titles and achievements.
more chances for players to get their hands on a seasonal rewards
enjoy

i am sure its better than demanding them to work anyway before sorting the rotten plebians among them out

In your opinion.
This is far from a universal fact.

As their past accomplishments clearly prove.
We’ll have to see how far back that ‘culture’ went, but I am convinced that it had to be at least nurtured in the ‘golden age’ of Blizzard already (which Metzen basically admitted to in his apology statement). It takes quite a bit of time for an office culture like that to be ‘normalized’.

Anyway; on topic about this ‘news’, I’m holding off on believing any of it until we get some official confirmation.

Im pretty sure its universal fact or will be pretty soon. :stuck_out_tongue:

if you think the MTX wow has are predatory then im sorry to say you have no clue what predatory MTX are. Sure they have mtx, but they are in no way close to anything resembling the ones in the likes of Runescape or asian MMOs who push MTX down your throat 24/7 and you can progress to and into the endgame PURELY from buying the MTX. Wows are purely cosmetic with ZERO game impact bar triggering people like you.

Is the problem with the developers or the higher ups?

You could be the best game developer in the world, with the best intentions, but if your boss and your bosses boss want you to design the game in a certain way then you don’t have a choice. I love my job, but I have to carry it out in accordance to the standards that not just my boss expects, but the department and the overall company.

Sure, you can quit but not everyone can quit for the sake of pride. Some people need the job and have to put up with the negatives. If they did quit, someone else would just fill the position and they’d be in the same boat.

Covid is a convenient excuse that the playerbase thought of but never confirmed by Blizz. The rest of the indistry went on without any issues tho. And wildfires… One can only hope.

The last time we had major delays, it was due to an influx of devs in the team. That led to wod only receiving two tiers of content.

There were a lot of dev hirings in BFA. An early Quarterly report had Bobby claim they were hiring thousands more Devs across all of their IPs. That could’ve led to a WoD 2.0 too

Or something else altogether, we just don’t know for sure. Which is worrying imo.

I’m playing until december for the timewalking tbc for my demon hunter After that i prob go to FF or new world because i don’t think we gonna have new content by then After what happend

Unfortunately miracles don’t exist.

Exactly. This ‘‘bro’’ ‘‘gamer culture’’ ‘‘toxic workplace’’ etc produced the WoW of 2004 and TBC and WOLK which, are, the peak of WoW and the most successful MMORPG.

Clearly you have lenient managers/higher ups. I’d fire you on the spot for breach of contract/sabotage of my product.

There is a difference between job being done just fine, ie it works and doing a proper job of writing easy to read, understand and maintain. Sure, the way I write code depends heavily on the requester behavior.

If development stopped, I strongly hope it is to fire all the decision-makers and restart with a new top management team. They constantly failed for 4 years, how can they keep their seat ?
They need to fire these incompetent dudes. No course correction is possible with the same failed captain at the helm.

The problem is clearly not the little guys working their bottom off on wow edit, but the leadership who invent bad systems, awful story and horrid monetization strategies.

The ship can be turned around, they’ve had the moment.

Honestly, a state of the game address is required even from a purely PR perspective, and it needs to be delivered by those that give a damn.

Are you suggesting that hiring more devs, results in LESS content?.. please elaborate.

No hes not.

But throwing 100 people at my flat tyre doesn’t get it fixed 100 times quicker than one person doing it.

Subjective opinion from someone playing very, very old content… which has notorious imbalance between classes and originally, virtually no endgame, so all the systems were designed to slow player progress.

It will if you haven’t got a jack to lift the car…

I really hope that Fantasy will not be written by someone who is spelling it near the writer as writer cant do his art when it is not his/her own.

Someone said in twitter once that it is bad writing if everyones ordinary life is not inside of a book. I can’t stand it anymore. First aiding people and their own whatever they are outside of the game beliefs etc, doesn’t make a good story. It is a complete mess.

It’s fine what people believe in their life but i can see where this cancel train is heading. I love reading books and my first book was Ian Fleming’s James Bond, then i read LOTR.

I’m a huge Tolkien fan, seeing fantasy getting fit into todays standards needs to stop. It’s a world created by someone with a masterful mind.

One serious question, what todays world would do to J.R.R Tolkien? You know from history what kind of a man he was.

The problem is that they wont move on from it though. This expansion is bad for so many reasons and these reasons existed in BFA and if they exist in any future expansions, WOW is toast as it will resemble one of those mmorpgs with like 500 items in the in game shop and micro transactions to pay the bills.

The stopping of development is to protest the unethical behavior that apparently has gone on for years at the company and not to fix the problems in the game. But if the report is to be believed we have been playing a game created by a bunch of drunken developers who cant stop inappropriate behavior so this explains why the game is in the state its in.
