Amd or Intel for wow

Hello
I am in progress of building a desktop and I just cant get a good answer from my search on the web.
My main monitor is a 1080p 144hz 27". And my second is a old 60hz 24" widescreen.

  • AMD Ryzen 7 2700x & Asus Prime X470-Pro with 16g 3200mz

  • Intel i7 9700K & Asus Z390-F ROG Strix with 16gb 3200mz

Which of those 2 would be better for world of warcraft.
I usually run with 2 wow instances one on my main screen and one on the other screen.

i7 9700K has stronger single core performance and max frequency while Ryzen has better multicore performance. Intel one could have bit more performance but with two WoW instances (and like DX12 mode) Ryzen could be on par of maybe even slightly ahead if more things would be running on the system.

It would have to be paired with a strong GPU and be lucky to not be limited by other factor/bug.

I was testing R71 7000 with RX470 lately and on Boralus it hits the default FPS limiter rather easily:

When around multiple players or with lots of mob the FPS was lower:

In such scenarios likely single core would be most important although I still have to test it and some other things. I have Threadripper 1920X with Vega64 on 3440x1440 and that also can lower frames in such cases.

Thank you for the reply.
With my multitasking I think I will go with Amd and a Vega VII 16gb and upgrade to a 4k monitor

Ultrawide display is an option to consider. Also WoW is really nice on such displays.

Or “wait for Navi” ™ Also first gen Threadrippers are on sale here and there from time to time (although motherboards aren’t yet) which could be an option if you need processing power for other tasks or a lot of PCIe lanes (8-12 core Threadrippers).

Will take a look at the the monitors in a few months.

I don’t think I need a threadripper it’s just not worth it here in Iceland the price for it is around 1100€.
I will be using my old Gtx 970 card for a month or two so I have time to decide on a card
