[A/N-RP] The Thalas'dorei - A Thalassian Community

The Call For A Broken People

In several places throughout Stormwind, notices are posted bearing the crest of a golden phoenix on an azure field.

Bal’a dash, Child of Quel’Thalas. Our bloodline is nearly spent, our people are scattered to the winds and across countless allegiances. Yet once we stood at the pinnacle of civilisation. Our golden age lasted millennia without pause. Yet this was all taken from us, and we were cast into the mud.

We were divided once, between those who craved dignity and those who were content with survival. This has scarred the very soul of our people.
Yet we were united around the rebirth of the Sunwell, and hope was renewed.
We were divided again, between those who sought knowledge no matter the cost and those who preferred the safety of the Sunwell. This too, has scarred us.

But the time has come to rise again, to unite beneath a single banner and restore our proud people to the place we once held, the place that was unjustly taken from us.
The time has come to stand together, as the Thalas’dorei, in spite of our differences, in spite of our past. To protect our home, and our people.

Seek us out and recognise us by the badges or colours we wear.

Aranal, Thalas’dorei.

Summary

The Thalas’dorei - or The Order of the Golden Phoenix - are an organisation dedicated to the restoration and unification of the Thalassian people. They value history, patriotism, and sacrifice in the name of the cause, and their goals are the protection of their people, their homeland, and Azeroth from all threats - whether from within or without.

The guild is open to all who bear Thalassian blood, no matter their past - as long as they wish to work for their people. We focus on providing a good atmosphere, which allows for the development of characters as well as new and experienced roleplayers.

Our themes tend to revolve around ideas such as Thalassian unity, and the support and establishment of Thalassian elves throughout the world - to which end we also travel from place to place, as well as social interaction during downtime and casual roleplay.
Our events tend to focus on issues pertaining to Thalassian elves, the well-being of the world, and facing down various threats - such as the remnants of the Burning Legion, agents of the Old Gods, or perhaps just local bandits pestering an encampment, but can also range to diplomatic missions or trading with a local populace.

Background

Established shortly after the end of the Fourth War, the Thalas’dorei was founded to provide a safe haven for the children of Quel’Thalas, in order to reduce the division created in recent decades.

To achieve this goal, they welcome all who consider themselves children of Quel’Thalas, whether Quel’dorei, Sin’dorei, or Ren’dorei. As a result, the organisation is essentially willing to recruit any elf as long as they come with an open mind, and are willing and able to work for the cause - whether this is with a sword, a blacksmith’s hammer, or a pouch of gold.

Realising a single base would reduce their ability to aid their people across the world, they have decided to travel from place to place, helping Thalassians as well as other inhabitants of Azeroth, to show that they truly do deserve to regain their ancient heritage and position.

The name of the organisation is a nod to the history of Quel’Thalas, and the divisions of her people throughout recent times. They consider themselves and their members not different races, not “Quel’dorei”, “Sin’dorei”, and “Ren’dorei”, but rather one united people, the Thalas’dorei. Children of the Home (or Kingdom).

What are we?

The Thalas’dorei have put behind them the divisions of race brought forth by recent times, and structure themselves accordingly. Rather than dividing their members based on physical traits, they do so based on skills and interests.

They honour and seek to preserve the ancient traditions, beliefs, and values of their people, but do not harbour disdain for other races, eagerly seeking cooperation and the opportunity to aid others and prove they are worthy of their heritage.

The Thalas’dorei is generally not an organisation based on a strict hierarchy, though the duty of those who fight demands the willingness to follow orders.
The leadership is made up of a council of five, one of which is elected to act as a head and ‘Overseer’, each representing a division within the organisation, to best align interests.

All walks of life are respected within the Thalas’dorei, but it would not be remiss to say the pinnacles of Thalassian culture are especially valued - Magisters, Farstriders, and others.

But besides this, all stand by the merit of their own actions. The architect is no more demanding of respect than the builder, and both carry as much say as the oldest of Magisters or scarred swordsmen.

Who are we?

The Thalas’dorei are an order established to cater to the interests of the Thalassian Elves throughout Azeroth, and so welcome those with Thalassian blood first and foremost. Quel’dorei, Ren’dorei, Sin’dorei, and half-elves are welcomed with open arms.

The order has room for all who wish to aid the cause, no matter whether their proficiency lies with the sword, the bandage, the pan, or the pen.

What do we do?

To keep it simple, the Thalas’dorei seek to prove that the children of Quel’Thalas stand strongest when they stand together, and that they are deserving of their noble bloodline. This means they intend for unity, wisdom, and dignity to guide their hand, whether it is in war or peace.

They wish to restore the pride of their people, and to help instill that very same pride into whomever might have lost it.

The order also bears a strong sentiment toward the establishment of unity and cooperation between various factions and groups, willingly helping those who ask for aid and even allowing their members to provide aid to other allegiances - such as the Alliance, Kirin Tor, or others - when need be, provided they keep in mind they are still the face of the order, and represent the values of the Thalas’dorei.

It should be noted that while the Thalas’dorei focus on the interests of the Thalassian people, they ultimately act in defense of Azeroth as a whole, protecting the world from threats both within and without. They believe that for their people to flourish, as must the world, and they cannot simply turn a blind eye to injustice and corruption.

Positions & Explanations

Overseer

The Overseer is the elected head of the Thalas’dorei. They are in essence the leader and final authority in all matters where the Convocation cannot be assembled. The Overseer is chosen by the Convocation from among their ranks and retains their title as Herald.

Herald

The Heralds take up four of the five seats of the Convocation, each representing a division of the Thalas’dorei. Together they act as the absolute authority of the organisation, and apart as the ultimate authority within their division - second only to the Overseer.

These people are those who have leadership in their stride, and inspire those around them through their words and actions.

Speaker

The Speakers are the most entrusted confidantes of the Heralds, acting in a leadership position when the Convocation are not present. They are tasked with keeping the order active and engaged, as well as ensuring the Convocation know full well what the members of the organisation want.

Champion

Champions are the veterans of the Thalas’dorei. Those who have been among the order for a long time, and who have made their mark and done their duty for the cause. They hold a position of special renown for their deeds.

Weaver

Weavers are those who primarily use magic as a weapon. They wield mana, shadow, and other forces in defense of those they love.

Guardian

Guardians have chosen to fight in close-quarters, acting in defense of their compatriots as they enter combat clad in mail and plate, battle-ready and strong.

Farstrider

The Farstriders often scout ahead of the main force and act behind the lines or within the shadows. Though they often hail from among the Farstriders of Quel’Thalas not all are proficient with the bow, many stalk their foes or fight using their cunning and dexterity in place of shield and mail.

Binder

The Binders are the caretakers of the order, ensuring the health of the people. These act as medics, physicians, and healers to protect their companions, close their wounds, and save lives.

Retainer

A Retainer is in essence any who is useful to the Thalas’dorei without filling one of the other roles, these can be workers, cooks, traders, or merely those who wish to take part in building a safe haven for the Elves. As the name suggests, these keep the order where it is meant to be, they are the heart for which the rest of the organisation fights.

Follower

Followers are those who share the beliefs of the Thalas’dorei, and might follow in our footsteps, but do not call the order home. They might hail from other races, and provide a link between the order and the rest of Azeroth. When needed, they may act as messengers or diplomats.
