You know when every full CGI cinematic has been Horde Horde Horde, it really does give concretion to Alliance players complaining about bias.
I mean we hear about how these things will balance out. Well, I’ll twiddle my thumbs until that happens.
Oh and please write some entirely-missing-the-point ‘argument’ about “Well Horde turmoil, duh!”. No, that’s called story, that’s called exposition, that’s a GOOD thing in a game that you actually have choices and context to play. You liking it or not is not at all the point.
EDIT: Also the ‘Legion’ argument that it was Alliance biased is massively overplayed-- and most importantly nothing that happened in that was pushing an Alliance agenda. Legion was not a faction war expansion, which really is an important difference. Two of the main characters in that, namely Khadgar and Ilidan, aren’t at all Alliance. It’d be like saying Guldan in Legion was Horde because he’s an Orc. What’s more the first half of the expansion was all about Nightborne.
There’s plenty to make a full CGI about, perhaps about a certain smoking tree stump. Meh who cares about that right? They got a cheapo ingame roar from Malfurion and a 2d animation watching it burn (oh entirely from Sylvanas’ perspective).
It is utterly insane how ABSOLUTE the story focus has been on Horde.
Battle for Azeroth. It is premised on faction war, yet only one faction is getting ANY context.
You know those CGIs aren’t cheap. Let’s just add in the slap in the face bait of the second one, which leads us to believe it’s about Anduin. Oh no Bob! It’s about an ORC of course.
But as Alliance player I just can’t help and feel like I am second grade for Blizz. I am not sure, maybe there is something to look forward in the story for the Alliance, but I am starting to doubt that a lot
I mean, I quite feel like these are important event to follow, this one in particular about a soon to be turning point, so I like these cinematics, I don’t care if it’s Horde or not. I just enjoy it for the lore it gives.
No one is trying to say that the cinematic is bad or anything wrong about it. I love it as well. But Alliance story is stagnating and shallow in comparison to the Horde one and that is a problem, the Horde is focused way too much, which might affect negatively quite a lot of players sooner or later.
My point was not the quality of the cinematic, but a whole part of the premise of BfA, be it we like it or not, revolves around what is Sylvanas doing and the impact she has on the Horde and the World. So for me, following these events are really important.
What would we get that is as much important for the Alliance currently ? A cinematic about Lollipop Mekkatorque and who will be a nice appointed leader for the Gnomes ? Something about Darkshore ? We already got a Malfurion (albeit not as with the same quality) one and a whole warfront to experience it. Another thing about Jaina ?
This cinematic will bring us in the heat of the whole debacle, and I feel like it’s really good to follow
The quality was not only about the CGI but also about impact and importance of it.
The cinematic that was supposed to be about the Alliance was about Saurfang and ultimately the Horde. Yeah, Darkshore should have its own CGI cinematic or attack on Dazar’alor from the Alliance perspective, mistakes Jaina did, when she was sent to Fate’s End etc. There were many opportunities for Alliance cinematic, that were influential, but we got none.
I don’t want to sound too negative, but it’s not like there was anything meaningful worth a cinematic for the Alliance.
NE’s stroy ended with the darkshore warfront for now (and I honestly can’t imagine that they will continue the story atleast this expansion).
And Anduin doesn’t do anything except saying every now and then that we have to stop Sylvanas. I can’t remember if Greymane played any meaningful role until now.
So the only remaining one is Jaina. And as far as I know she isn’t up to something interesting at the moment.
We are a boring faction where rarely anything noteworthy happens.
I could easily think up a plot of top night Elves conspiring to force change within the Alliance for more focus on their own struggles.
In the end you realise the more Blizzard continue down this path, the harder it will be to make real story for Alliance? Alliance are just an empty vessel for Horde to fill in with their story.
But Blizz is the one creating the story, it is not like they decide to do a cinematic at the last second, it is planned and their plan prolly for this expansion is to focus on the Horde. If they haven’t thought about the possible side effects of that decision, then I really do not what to say to this situation…
It almost seems as if dedicating a series of cinematics to a character is taboo and shouldn’t be allowed! I guess we should just remove the Burdens of Shaohao then, as it shows panda bias!
Get over yourselves. When Lost Honour was added after Old Soldier, it was obvious that cinematics are being made to reflect the character arc of a chosen character.
you alliance players cry about horde bias everytime horde gets something.
alliance has boring races, you join a faction with boring races and then you are surprised the story is so boring, you join the faction so its your own fault. the main focus on alliance is on boring humans.
horde lost so many leaders in the past exspansions and will loose one again soon so its looking more like alliance bias.
From a normal POV. I loved it, CGI is always cool.
As an alliance player this was obvious to see happening anyway given the current story arc of BFA
as for alliance complaining about the horde getting something? Well. Its always been horde > alliance, in terms of near enough everything except every man for himself (the racial) which is gutted and shadowmeld, which is probably going to get gutted eventually too. Mean while the horde run around with better mounts, racials, well anything and cgis about main story plot characters.
From a Horde perspective, I’m thoroughly bored with the seemingly endless stories based around yet another disposable or temporary faction leader. Horde yet again in turmoil, villainous leader blah blah. Might as well give one side black cowboy hats and the other white ones and be done with it. There’s a huge amount of potential with an Alliance upheaval plot or just something to rock the increasingly Disney styled boat. Stick Anduin’s severed head on a pike, parade it around Stormwind and give another Alliance character a story with some impact.
Problem is, this is what probably everyone expected in BfA:
Whos is right in this scene ?
The Romans, the Carthaginians, the Barbarians, the Pártians ?
Answer: none, it’s war the strongest survive the weakest die.
The Troll empire is no more why ?
Because it was defeated, by stronger races, as the Night Elves.
This is what BfA should be all about, I suppose for the players that love conflict.
Example Warcraft 2.
Instead we got another series of novels, Warcraft 3 style.
Remember Thrall’s nightmare ?
That’s what we are getting.
Yes the Alliance could get more cinematic, but I have this question for you:
Do you want all the alliance drama of Warcraft 3 as well (Arthas story) ?
It’s a Bwomsamdi deal in my opinion, get all the attention and all the drama as well …
