Nice pun, but this is a different “maintenance” lul.
Just because it’s a MMO, doesn’t mean it branded itself as “WoW Killer”.
That marketing crap was overused and done by 2012 max, if not before.
They do however eat another piece of the pie, since some players want an action-based combat (myself included). However most of these games just fail miserably. Guild Wars 2 does it alright but it’s blend of tab-target and action-combat, so it doesn’t fully go at it.

The only thing it killed was itself and the studio.
I don’t know how anyone with 2 braincells min. could have looked at gameplay footage and thought “yup, this is the one !!”. It was so obvious this clunky mess wouldn’t survive.

Still waiting the next wow killer, riot mmo, for like years since they announced it, sofar nothing.
I bought it on release, and refunded it after a few hours, cos i didnt like it.
Who would’ve said that, how surprising! 
I’m kidding, just in case it wasn’t obvious. In the end as it’s already been stated many times before, the only WOW killer is WOW itself.
You will wait even more years then, since they scrapped everything they did and went back to the drawing board.
Honestly may it be this one or Butt of Creation, I don’t have high hopes for either. I genuinely believe the MMO genre is dead, not because it doesn’t attract players but the WoW-copy cats, quick cash grabs and crappy games that have come out. It’s too risky and costly to make a MMORPG worth its salt.
Even FFXIV, one of its last saving grace was the trash-tier housing. They are losing that little edge now and are left with a clunky gameplay and crap storytelling (same as WoW for that last part!).

That game never was a killer of anything except itself
The only thing which can kill WoW is Blizzard/Microsoft themselves when they literally pull the plug. As long as WoW is making the bottom line, it will continue to exist.
Doesnt matter if its played by 12M people or 100 000 people…as long as the “number’’ in the profit section is in the green.

It is not any different then mmorpg community where every player considers themselves pro players xD
No matter for funny it may look, but absence of competition is also negatively affects our game. Blizzard’s developers know it, then the quality of final product can be may worse. If this competition had place, maybe we won’t have bugged dawnbreaker, not properly working abilities for some classes, and other things which won’t be happening in game, which you buy and after it pay sub.

that is true . blizzard has been laxing since ffxiv newest expansion dawntrail came to lackluster and lukewarm reception .
so blizzard has no problem atleast till 2027 to treat customers the same quality that they are giving now

Then we have to hope that the same dynamic that happened during the Shadowlands, when FF14’s success inspired WoW to improve, does the same with FF14. It is clearly the only game that can compete with WoW.
