Considering how utterly boring the activity is, I wouldn’t blame them for abandoning for now.
Archeology needs a revamp because right now it’s:
- Extremely boring and tedious, there’s no entertainment value to it.
- Entirely RNG and therefore very grindy

Ion also touched upon the subject of Archaeology.
Archaeology is something that needs some work. We’re not super happy with how that played out. It’s not something that’s going to be part of our initial efforts in Dragonflight. Thematically, the idea of learning about the relics, that’s going to happen across the Dragon Isles, but we’re not returning to the excavation mini-game form of it. We want to figure out something better to do with that in the future.
Ahh that’s a shame.
almost like they do not want to work for hours…
people been asking for player housing for years…
if they started work on it when they first started asking… surely they would of had enough “hours” by now to implement something good to satisfy people…

Idk, feels like I’m the only one who really misses archaeology… I find it super relaxing to do once in a while and I hope that they will implement it again in the future.

I honestly do not miss it, for the reasons Slapface listed.
Pet battle and Archeology - many people dont even tasted those dishes.
If Wow is to be for all its players and not just Raiders/M±ers, they have to do things like archaeology and make it fun and interesting. I know it’s a minority who do it, but I remember the huge outcry when there was a glitch a few years ago and some players lost their entire archaeology history and it wasn’t recoverable.
