Archivist's Codex Tier 5-6 rep grind

This. For the vast majority of players, the rewards you get out of it (sockets) aren’t going to make a whole lot of difference. As such, it’s perfectly fine to stop caring about it and ignore Korthia and the Archivist Codex rep outside of Shaping Fate. (Which is also something you can ignore, if you don’t mind being a little bit behind on Renown - something that’s also not that big of a deal for most purposes.)

Which is a bit of a shame. I like upgradeable gear. I wanted to use Korthia to help my alts fill gaps - but by the time they can go past ilvl 220 in Korthia, they’re 230+ from casual dungeon runs.

Same as Valor, really. Upgrading to 12/12 gear isn’t going to change anything by the time a character has KSM.

Oh well, fingers crossed these systems get a review in 9.1.5. Blizz seem to be thinking about player experience a lot right now, and this is definitely a bit of a pain point!

Well I basically nolifed from 5 to 6 and it took me just under a month and thats pretty much clearing all the sources of Korthia relics (Relic Gorger’s are rarer then rocking horse doodoo so that i couldn’t complete each day)

The disappointing thing is even after doing that and raking in like 25k korthia relics the Conduit Upgrader and Socket item dents that pile and you are then forced to do it all over again to try and get all of your specs conduits to 252.

I would recommend just doing it at your own pace.

If you don’t care about Death’s Advance reputation, just pick dailies that reward Cataloged Research, and for rares try to kill bigger ones since they have been dropping lots of reputation at least for me (Relic Breaker, Consumption, Ones that open up a portal) also don’t forget to get some rift keys and go to a Rift Portal and there will always be 3 to 4 treasures, they can drop a lot of reputation.

Invasive Mushrooms and other treasures drop reputation but are a bit rare to drop.

Thanks,

Some good points were made in this thread. It’s a waste to chase deaths advance rep for example. I should just use what time I have there to chase rares and chests etc.

Yeah for sure, although if you care about mounts Death’s Advance has 2 paragon mounts.

Also, sometimes assault cache can reward some research!

Didn’t Blizzard promised there would be no paragon mounts ? :x

Yes they did, but now they added 4 paragons mounts in just one patch. :woman_facepalming:

Well, I got KSM on week two. My vaults have been pretty decent. Yet, I still have quite a few slots I can upgrade still, on my main. You can upgrade past what drops in +15s, so it will help.

k so an almost-full clear daily (including the rift) gets you about 1000 rep - but act quickly after a rare spawns so you finish in ~40 min

then you have anima vessels around assaults and weekly caches (assaults and shaping fate)

last is 1.5k from the shrines

so it takes like idk 2 weeks, maybe a bit less

Enjoy the grind while it lasts, i had my paragon mount like 3 weeks ago and i have yet to returned to korthia since that, only for renown quest ofc

Dont know. Lost my sanity somewhere in between. I think i calculated around 700-800 rep per day. Or a thousand on a good day.

Shao-hao? Never bothered with that before TW tokens came out. xD

PS: I get barely 2000 rep a week with assaults and dailies only; i think it’s ok, I should reach 6 together with the fitting renown, but it’s bad for alts that re far lower because I don’t have the nerves to do assaults with all of them…

PPS: I also still don’t understand properly how research and rep are linked, gathering research is easy, but its not the same amount as you get rep out of it…

Not just that, they said BfA would have no paragon mounts and then added one anyway. I can’t remember which dev did the interview for it (it wasn’t Ion) but I do wonder if being a habitual liar is a requirement for hosting interviews over there. Yes I’m still bitter about it.

Which may mean not doing it…

I think Shaping Fate tends to net about 1000-1200 per week, we need 11k for t5 and 16k for t6, so 27k overall…

Roughly 25-27 weeks. Which is probably longer than the patch will last. So if you’re not chasing renown, even Shaping Fate might be pointless to you.

You’re… how can I word this… a bit hardcore compared to most :stuck_out_tongue:

People who were only clearing weekly 15s last season really didn’t start doing weekly 15s again for probably the first 5-7 weeks, maybe more. And of course, you need to do 16x 15s to get KSM, so… it’s a long way off for many.

Personally I’m at 1996 M+ rating. My last timed 17 netted me all of 4 points and made me a bit cross :joy_cat: I am at 240 ilvl however so… I’m running out of uses for Valor

Shaping fate is giving 5 tokens of 150 research, which is 750/2 = 375 reputation :grimacing:

This grind just isn’t worth doing. The fewer people put up with this :poop: , the more likely it is that Blizz will not design and implement such grindy RNG content.

Yeah, but I got bored of Maw assaults, so I do SF entirely in Korthia, which takes 2 days, and is quite a lot of rares and nests.

I mean… I don’t object to the idea that you can upgrade gear by doing Korthia.

I don’t like the artificial cap on how high you can go. There’s no need for that, we’re already capped by the amount of currency we can earn vs the actual upgrade costs. Why not let players choose whether to spread out their upgrades evenly, or push one item to 233 asap, while it’s still probably useful? There’s no chance of doing a full set of 233 in a reasonable timescale anyway, it’s not going to threaten raiders for ilvl no matter what you do.

(Exactly the same as Valor, hint hint, remove the link with KSM, etc.)

That rep is a bit of a headache, but I managed to find a great way of dealing with it and it heavily involves not dealing with it.
