So many people that worry about min-maxing, while their performance wouldn’t make a single difference in which covenant they’d pick.
They worry about problems they might face when being the 1%, while being the 99%.
No, but the implementation is.

Look, I am not edge or gladiator. I am just a challenger with 7/12. Hilariously enough that puts me right up in the 10% of players. Yet I rarely if ever player at min max performance, since I simply do not care enough. I can, I have hit 99% parses (and it felt good tbf), but not going to stretch myself if the expac is not fun (BFA is not fun for me).
well i guess, we can agree to disagree.
I find the current system alarmingly bad. And the consequences of it will be that the majority of the expansion will be spent on balancing things and changing this one system to make it better.
Same way azerite system became the main focus of bfa for half the expansion.

I Am not saying it is good, I am clarifying the state.
I will even toss you an “one up” and remind you that this system was “okay-ish” in legion as you could swap gear in m+ and raids, you had master loot and other things. You are a lot more restricted now.
Then i guess we agree. This system will be a MAJOR downside of shadowlands.
An expansion that otherwise, seems very exciting and interesting.
…and none of that entitles you to be invited to any group.
Just because you don’t like the correct answer (Make your own group) doesn’t make it wrong.
If you want to limit your own group to your regular friends then that’s your decision and nothing you can moan about.
Sounds to me that you’re too lazy to do the little bit of work needed to organize your own group and want someone else to carry you in that respect.
