Argent Dawn, Communities, Us VS Them & Escapism

He did pipe up in the other thread about the “us vs THEM”

So you’ve written an essay to tone police?

Us vs Them is pretty bad, considering there shouldn’t be a Them to begin with.

Okay call me crazy, delusional… There’s this extremely well hidden thing in this game. It’s called freedom. You can do pve, pvp and rp. The fact that there are about 40 realms for pve and pvp and OOCers pick the last remaining RP realm for “the atmosphere” is a petty lie. The same people that praise themselves for “realm first mythic x” and “1st of my class on the realm”. Sad.

How people go about it ie… making forum posts sometimes? Damn, so radical

We should complain more quietly so as not to disturb the unsubbed radical centrists bros

If the bigger % of OOCers was like this, there wouldn’t really be a major problem. If an RPer does content during OOC times it doesn’t look any different to a “good-natured / discreet” OOCer doing it.
However, as history has shown with other RP realms (see: ER / Moonglade / Defias B), these nicer OOCers are seemingly a minority.
Attention is always drawn to those who pull weird “haha epic RPer prank  “ cards, not those who choose to remain silent / quiet (see: those who just haven’t joined an RP guild or the like).

Read: I’m okay with the message but not when it’s said by people I historically dislike.

You’re exactly right honestly!

They’re not perfect. It should be better really, it’s there for a reason and should be acted up. Keeping up what the realm is designed for, roleplay.

I mean it really shouldn’t be a problem in the first place. We shouldn’t have to come on the forums to complain about it at all.

Well to that I would say that the roleplay community itself is not just one huge homogenized blob, but of course everyone has some standards that they hold up in-general.

Yes, I am not saying that the RPer is at fault here and yes if they have this sort of experiences then I won’t be really judging them for such a opinion either, but on a general level if everyone would start thinking that every person who is not part of the greater community is here just to spite us, it wouldn’t really be pretty.

I actually agree on the part that unsubbed accounts should not be able to talk on the Forums for the most part, since especially on AD these people are not the ones actually taking part in anything that is happening on the Realm.

It’s easy to see it like that, I am aware of that as I already stated in my original post, I am not a saint and have said stuff that I would no longer say, but my whole point about how people go with having their voices be heard is about them pushing total strangers down and demonizing them.

Not to even mention that people are just a few clicks away from other realms.
The leveling grind is really not -that- bad, especially if you spent your time on throwing toys and balloons in a RP hub, you surely can spent that time more productive.

At last i truly see …

Especially when you also factor in that a majority of the OOC trolls who disrupt the most both on the forums and ingame have pretty low gear & generally below most rpers in terms of content, even the more casual of us.

You’ve made a thread about unity and then spent most of it talking about how mean and unfair roleplayers are to the people who disrupt their roleplay.

I’ve reread the thread twice and can’t figure out much else from it. Is it that we shouldn’t separately categorise the people who roleplay and the people who don’t? That would be difficult for roleplay guilds to do for one.

Is it that we shouldn’t overlook the bad behaviour of people just because they happen to be in the same guild as us? Who is arguing otherwise?

Is it that we shouldn’t tell out of character players who are disrupting roleplay to stop because these players might be big dumb weirdos in real life who find the experience of being asked to stop being arseholes painful?

I feel like there’s a point you want to get to but you’re just making wide circles around it, and that’s why the main post is so rambling and vague.

RPers can’t be victims… the OOCers are

Because there are problems with how people approach these subjects on the realm -In my opinion-, again. People are more than free to disagree with what I say.

My point there was that people in order to basically trash OOCers will themselves demonize anyone under that label, regardless of if they have done something bad or not. I am not saying that the “all OOC people are the victims” either, since griefers and lollers are a problem that could be dealt with by Blizzard.

During my years on AD, there have been many people who have preached the same, yet behind closed doors turned a blind eye to horrible OOC behaviour of a friend or a Guild member for a reason or another. While it is not something people usually bring up, it is still something that happens at times.

Again, griefing and lolling are problems that should be stopped, but it’s how people go about stopping these things. Pressure Blizzard, bring it to their attention, but basically just kicking people in the head who are outside your group isn’t the way either.

Generally speaking I was mostly just hoping to create some conversation about these topics, which has certainly happened already. I didn’t come here and write this with some ill intent, really.

There’s already a stickied thread for it, I propose you read it and see if the topic needs further digging into.

Well, here we are again. Having more posts and views about certain topics is always better in my opinion. It really doesn’t hurt anyone if someone decides to write a post on the Forums, regardless of there already being one discussing similar issues.

Repetitive posts that have nothing significant to the RP are sending actual threads that do to the bottom.
That and its getting bland.
