As a new player, are heirlooms worth investing in?

Just wanna know if I should invest in herilooms or rather something else?

Not at all… the leveling revamp is coming soon and heirlooms are losing their exp bonus

Shadowland is near and in shadowland it’s gonna be obsolete (xp bonus).

So no for now. Let’s take trail in shadowland check out it’s worth it or not.

The flightpath heirloom toys might be worth it, wouldn’t buy any gear anymore though.

It might be if you like the new bonuses or if you want the heirloom mount (which is hideous, I’d rather be walking until level 20/SL 10).

Or if you care a lot how your alts look but hate to run to the tmog every time you get an upgrade.

With the amount of alts i’ve levelled, they were definetly worth it.

The flight path ones are worth it if you plan to level on Kalimdor or Eastern Kingdoms, or if you otherwise need the flight points (likely, on a new char).

The EXP stat will be gone in SL, but for me the main bonus was always that I don’t have to spend the gold on constantly transmogging new levelling gear, because I need to look fab as I level. :smiley: If you don’t suffer from that affliction, then it’s probably not worth it. They are quite expensive. You can also buy them with other currency, though: https://www.wowhead.com/heirloom-guide#vendors

That’s a good point. Even if you’re not thrilled to spend gold on them you can grind event currencies and use those to buy upgrades, which is the really expensive part of getting fully upgraded heirlooms.

Probably not. As others have said the heirlooms will lose the XP bonus. And since 60% mounts will be available at level 10 the mount you get for collecting heirlooms will lose most of its value too.

At most maybe buying weapons could be worth it if you’re playing a class that different specs use different weapons (such as Rogues that use daggers for Assassination and sub, but swords for Outlaw).

let’s just say that if they end up deleting them instead of what they’re doing to them right now in shadowlands, it would still not be much worse.

That’s how useless they will soon become.

True, especially since you’re not forced to go through Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor anymore. Won’t do you much good if you decide to level in Pandaria or Draenor for example.

I have been subscribed only since July 1, and still felt a need to buy a few heirlooms here and there. But it is purely subjective. If you have the spare gold to buy them, feel free. Some appearances are pretty nice too. But do not panic about them.

I advice you to not invest heirlooms until you start feeling that leveling is boring, which is probably happen after the 5th character you level.

No, until we get a full picture of how SL scaling and heirlooms works, and after the first round of changes.

If you want new chars right here and now, invest in looms up to level 90, Wod, Legion and BFA can be cheese leveled with extreme ease.

Not all looms will be useless though but sadly if you did not play MoP or WoD you are missing out on powerful weapons and trinkets as you can now use them from level 1 in SL .
