The Skyguard are currently enjoying some well-earned time off! By time off I mean slaving away to a few Dragonhawks who demand far too much attention for it to be considered fair (Donât tell them that). Hope everyone enjoys the start of the expansion, though, and hope to see you all on the other side!
How much fun are you having with Dragonflight? A thematic expansion for the Skyguard who are super excited after having played through the zones to see what we can do in this coming year!
If all the members dont have Gold in all the advanced races ima be disapointed!!!

As the year comes to a close I just want to say that over the past 12 months I have felt welcomed and loved by everyone in the guild. We have had a lot of great adventures together and I just hope that next year brings even more!
Happy new year to the Skyguard!
The Skyguard return to their events this week and in preparation here is a sneak peak at our time skip art coming soon!
Skyguard Ceremonial Newsletter, post time-skip edition: Bondings
In spite of Idrillaâs partial recovery from the injures suffered in the fight against the Crucible of Purity, the Eclipsion has not been cleared for active service and has been retired. With her blessing, Sergeant Vaelath âCantripâ Ashleaf will now be taking to the skies alongside the Eclipsion-Red Baylor.
Misc.
In lieu of their efforts against the Crucible of Purity, the Skyguard have had their funding increased by the Sunfury Spire and have been granted a series of perks.
The unit has been issued with its own flagship dubbed as âThe Skychaser.â Found in the Sunsail Anchorage, it is a carrying ship built to be a home away from home for the elves and their siblings.
A new rank composed of Farstrider initiates has been incorporated into the Skyguard; these soon-to-be rangers known as âWrensâ will be helmed by Rowynwen Hawkwing and will function primarily as the unitâs stablehands, filling the role that Valâmaxian Whiteoak once did.
A term limit has been introduced to the role of the unitâs Head Medic. Every so often, it will be rotated around with the hopes of strengthening the skills and teamwork of the unitâs menders.
Just recently, Illuriel icly came back into active Duty to the Skyguard and had her first deployment in icly 3,5 years!
A very exciting day for her C:
Dreadstarâs Farewell
It has been around three years since the strange and confusing tale of the world beyond worlds, beyond time and life. Three years can be a long time, but not in the eyes of an elf that lives far longer than any man, dwarf or orc.
The years had become still and quiet for Gaxxius, every third turn of the moon he travelled back to the golden forests and beautiful plains of his homeland. Where the sun always shone bright and the endless spring never failed. It was again beautiful as it once was, and the comforting rustling of leaves as well as the small creaks and mounds that stretched on for miles. Small winding roads of pale stone, aged trails among the hills and bush that in the end led to the golden kingdom of Silvermoon. The towering pillars of white stone touched the sky and glimmering like spikes of pearl and silver, the Sinâdorei banners caught high in the evening breeze. It was his home away from home, and what was close to heart was the Skyguard in particular.
He no longer felt the need to bear his chainmail, heavy leather vest, shield and other equipment. It was a great weight that had been lifted off his shoulders, the only thing he still carried was his sword at his side and a small pack of supplies for the road. His new garments were lighter and more flowing, a long coat in grey fabric with loose sleeves, a white shirt with elven inscriptions woven into its neck, black trousers tucked into his high boots. He no longer wore the tight fitted gear of a warrior, designed for movement together with protection.
The members of the Skyguard noticed that the lines of his face were less stressed and his brow no longer creased with worry. At times he appeared the proud lord very few had seen, He held his head high and his dark hair glimmered in the sunlight and not a strand was out of place. His face was young but his eyes gleamed with ancient memories of times long ago, but those who looked closely saw that he no longer had that familiar sorrow in his eyes.
The last few months he had been visiting the Skyguard more frequently, coming into their base with boxes, satchels, scrolls and other smaller items to store there. When asked about it he always gave short answers with a small smirk, he was up to something for sure. He did act suspicious at times but not very concerning. He often talked about the change of the world and his interests: books, trees, birds, uncharted lands afar and how he longed to travel to the edge of the world. His eyes shone bright with longing and wonder.
Before long a familiar sighting could be seen at their beloved rookery, none other than Keyo, the dragonhawk with an ill temper and most loyal of companions to Gaxxius. She was jovial to finally be permanently placed along the other dragonhawks in the rookery and not being taken away from them on lonesome adventures with her rider. Deâvontae had helped the spellbreaker remove the binding rune that connected him to Keyo. Gaxxius had been seen in the evening, embracing his old companion with a sorrowful look about him. Tears had rolled down his cheeks and he sat in the company of Keyo for hours, she had rested her large head in his lap. He slowly caressed her feathers, feeling her soft breathing and listening to her murmuring sound for the last time. As if saying goodbye was not painful enough.
On one faithful day small packages had been left in the large hall of their order, one to each member of the Skyguard, it was parting gifts even if the elves didnât know it just then. The gifts were wrapped in leather and placed on a table, each had a small name tag on it.
Deâvontae: Gaxxius gifted the Captain a long dark grey cloak embroidered with elven runes in golden thread, the insignia of the skyguard could be seen on the back of it. Its edges were of wolf pelt and would give warmth in the coldest of temperatures as well as looking stylish. âA stylish cloak for a stylish elf, let its warmth comfort you in the coldest and darkest placesâŚâ
Iâlen: A quill, made from one of Keyoâs feathers. The handle had small amethyst gemstones in it, the craft would be recognised to be made by the steady hand of Gaxxius. Upon it was a spell, the pen never needed ink to write with nor did it ever dry. A note accompanied the quill: âThe pen is mightier than the sword, but have you ever been stabbed with a pen?â
Vaelath: Ashleaf received an orb that looked to be made out of strange amber coloured glass, within a faint light shone in a pulsating way. If looked deeper one could see merry memories of the time Gaxxius had spent together with him, visions of them laughing together, sharing stories by campfires and sharing a lot of alcoholic beverages. It had a pleasant warmth about it.
Ranthos: Firescar was the only one in the company that received two gifts. The first gift was a bow made out of the dark wood in the deepest parts of the forest of the Hinterlands, Longer and stouter than the bow of the farstriders. The string as white as snow and the engravings of the grip was inlaid with silver, the tips of the bow were carved to resemble owlcat heads, blue moonstones were set in their eyes. Ranthosâ skill in woodworking and the carving of it would see that the bow was far older than he was and still as sturdy as when it was made.
The second gift was something much smaller but of greater significance, it was a ring. Not any kind of ring either, for only four rings of this kind had ever existed. It was one of the Dreadstar family rings, its engraving was a lone raven on a yellow field with amber eyes, blood red beak and talons. Under the family crest was the letter âGâ engraved. Along it came a letter:
âRanthos, my brother in arms and by choice⌠To you I gift my ring, I hope that you will remember me when you look upon it. Once it was four but the others have been lost. I will never forget your kindness, dry jokes, tasty food and thirsty glances. And perhaps one day we shall meet again.â
Malâthadian: The Spellbreaker got the armguards Gaxxius wore when they were on missions, the dark metal shone forever cold, the sigil of the order of the elite Spellbreakers were engraved on them, as well as writing in ancient elvish: âIt is not the strength of the body, but the strength of the Spirit.â Once he touched them they seemed to grow in his hands to a size that fit him.
For the rest of the Skyguard that Gaxxius had not the pleasure of knowing well enough he gifted each a necklace of silver, a dragonhawk talon clutching a star shaped ruby attached to a chain of silver. Each one had the initials of each elf engraved on it.
A day after the elves had received their gifts a ship was seen docked at the harbour of Quelâdanas, a mighty ship with bright sails and pale masts. Adventurers and explorers of all races were boarding the ship, carrying supplies, weapons, barrels of wine, fruits and other items that were needed for a very long and perilous journey across the sea and into uncharted waters. A band of nightborne were quietly discussing which course to set, three night elves were arguing loudly over what they should have brought and what they had forgotten, A group of dwarves stood close to an opened barrel of ale yelling at each other about which dwarven clan was better. A group of blood elves stood close to Gaxxius and calmly discussed what they would discover during their adventure.
Gaxxius stood at the dock, looking at the ship and mustering the courage to board it. He turned and looked at the golden trees and the warm green hills for a while before taking a deep breath. For this was going to be his greatest adventure yet, he smiled warmly before taking his pack and stepping onto the ship. The travellers all settled down below deck and the voices died down as they were awaiting the withdrawal from the docks. As the ship departed and turned northwest towards the unknown, he looked one last time upon his homeland, a tear of silver rolled down his cheek and his heart told him that he would miss this dearly.
Gaxxius never returned to Azeroth, nor did he ever forget the friends he had.
The Skyguard are pleased to congratulate another flier becoming a Queen Ace and will be looking to give her ceremony soon! Well done Felicia!
An old piece of writing I found for Deâvontae; itâs fun to look back on your old work! The Skyguard are heading out to the skies again tonight in search of new enemies and will be looking for some social RP in the next coming days.
âBy the quack in a Duckâs bill, would you get a look at those rolling hills tucked in Auraeâs dress. Oh what Iâd give to borrow the powers of the titans for the day just to bring those hills together and carve a stream right down the middle with my- Oh- er no⌠no I didnât mean you Au-Aurae!â The sound of the slap of justice could be heard all the way from Warpsearâs Inn and across the battlefield of Ashran.
âI did not deserve thatâ Alaris complained as he nursed his rapidly reddening cheek by pressing the cold brown glass of his ale to his skin. Deâvontae chuckled heartedly, guiding the elf by his elbow down passed the many lit campfires of the Horde soldiers who consoled each other with stories of their lives. âYou most certainly did, Iâve not seen so much fury in a womanâs eyes than those of Auraeâs after your comment. Shouldnât have had the firewater, you turn into such a letch. Oh and come on you flower sniffer, it did not hurt that bad.â Alaris waved his bottle outwards in a wide arch âI will have you know, this is a mark of her unpronounced love for me. Sheâs just playing hard to get!â
The foreign moon laid languidly in the sky of a thousand unknown stars, casting a pale glow down over the heads of the two elves as they made their sluggish and merry way back to their tents. Perhaps it was the prospect that they were due to fly tomorrow on a mission they may not return from, or the perhaps it was even the witnessing of Alarisâs persistent struggle in winning the heart of the Inn keeperâs daughter Aurae. But as Deâvontae helped his friend keep his feet, he looked up to the sky and a name found itâs way like a tender kiss to the tip of his tongue ââŚElanalue.â
âWho is that?â Alaris asked as they turned round the dirt path towards the strong smell of eggs and sulphur. âHm- oh âŚwow Iâve not thought about her for a whileâŚâ Deâvontae awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck and kicked up a stone in his path. âShe was the key that set me free and whispered to me that first fluttered wing beat of loveâŚâ
Story by our Felicia:
Feli walked around Skypeak as she would take everything in. A lot had changed in the nearly six years she had been with the unit and she had changed a lot herself as well. They had lost ones they care about and a home, but had also gained a lot as well. She never thought she would have such amazing people in her life and they had all become her family. She made her way to where Nymira was and smiled when she saw her girl. The bond she has with Nymira was unlike anything she had ever felt before and still remembers the day she was bonded to her like it was recent, Nymira made her feel whole from the moment she was bonded to her. âYou ready Baby girl? Shall we see where the next adventure takes us?â Nymira would lean down and press her head against Feli. âI always promised you that I would never leave you. So we will do this like we do everything, together.â Feli smiled and looked up to Nymira then tilted her as the pair would make their way to the landing platform. Feli took a deep breath before she would climb up and then the pair would take off into the air. They wouldnât get far before they would look back to Skypeak and Feli smiles. This wasnât really a goodbye it was more of a âTill next we meetâ as she knew she would always come back to see them, they would never be able to be rid of her really. She looks back to Nymira and pets her side before the pair fly off into the distance.
For the time being the Thalassian Skyguard is on Hiatus due to IRL commitments of its officer team. We have decided to maintain the guild and the community we have built and know that the door is always open for us to one day return. But for now thank you for the love and support.
Blood Howl wishes itâs elven allies the best going forward! And of course look forward to see your great return when Real Life allows this!
Blood and Honour, Thalassian Skyguard!
