It’s a beta. Yes, it’s a perfect excuse for something that isn’t finished. That’s what a beta is. Unfinished. Who could’ve guessed that something that isn’t finished….isn’t working flawlessly??
I see the same thing for FREE betas and Early Access games. It’s honestly baffling. Yeah, sure you paid for it. But guess who did that willingly? It sure wasn’t Blizzard.
Call me a glazer/defender all you want. I see the good things Blizz do and criticize the bad things. That’s called being realistic. It’s a game. To make a game you have to develop it. Developing it will have issues along the way.
we are in the beta to find bugs etc however Blizzard has 20+ years of experience with server problems but a stable beta server is still a big problem for them apparently
“The purpose of a beta is to find and fix bugs, test game mechanics, and gather feedback from real-world players to improve the game before its final release.”
So not finished. Glad we got that over with. Tested plenty of beta games. None was finished and riddled with game breaking bugs. Even unable to play some because of it. Shocker, i know. Unfinished products tend to do that.
Of course the rant is valid. You still paid for it. Blizz market Epic Edition with Early Access for the release and guaranteed Beta access. Not the fault of the company when the costumer doesn’t know what a Beta is. But it was your decision to buy it. Be it for the Beta (lol. Lmao even) or Early Access. To except something that isn’t finished to behave like a finished product just because you paid for it is delusional.
A Beta is a finished game what you’re describing happens during pre Alpha and late Alpha. Finding bugs isn’t the main priority in a Beta, that’s what the QA team is for
A Beta exists to stress-test the finished product. You can report bugs, sure, but they usually won’t be fixed before release that happens later. If something truly game-breaking is found, then yes, they’ll delay the release. But generally, a Beta is basically ready to ship.
Most publishers do this look at Call of Duty or Battlefield. They run Betas about two months before launch, and that time is mostly spent on marketing and distribution.
When I release beta versions of my software, at least most of the core functionality still works.
In this beta of Midtnight:
Can’t create a new character
Can’t copy existing character
Can’t create a template character
I don’t expect everything to work or quests not having bugs etc, but these basics should work day one, right now the only thing you can literally test is the login screen and realm selection dialog.
Yeah and they all just launched the beta, dusted off their hands of hard work, says “well, now we are finally done developing the game since game development is only in the literal sense ” and left.
But i guess in your tin foil hat delusion, that is the objective truth.
Actually sitting and staring at the screen, clapping his hands and waiting for me to respond. It’s both sad and heartwarming.
Now he is mad how cute. But its how you said they left, moving on to another projects
Yes, exactly while I am waiting for their sysadmins to fix the database. It’s like watching a pantomime clown malding in black and white.
Edit: Character creation works now! I can finally ignore you. Good day (or night), Pantomime. Keep dreaming about those 400 people who cheer and clap every time you type a report in the bug tracker.
Stomping my feet on the ground angry right now oh my god you have no idea how angry i am I mean, you say im mad and malding so that must be true, right? Or perhaps it’s just you projecting hmmm
Gotta wait more for them to fix the issues. It’s great that it’s a beta and not full, finished product, right?
Is this the 3rd or 4th time you edit your comment now? I must make you chuckle if you keep coming back. Glad i can make some poor, unfortunate soul happy.
