Blizz already has a system in place for age verification. imgur just don’t wanna pay for that extra service.

Yet for some reason they aren’t blocking Google Images from showing sinful stuff.

And yet any youth looking or eager to view such content can easily do so still.
What is worse is that a lot of innocent websites, such as hobby websites, have actually been caught up in the cross hairs as the legislation is so crude it doesn’t distinguish between an adult images site or a hobby website using forum software which is able to have images posted on it.
The way in which it was done, was for nothing more than control.
Imgur didn’t want to do any age verification $$$ before child safety.. Google most likely have done some behind the scenes age verification. I’m assuming the masses data they hold on you suggests you’re not a child. I’ve not had any requests in the online accounts I have either.
certain forum-banned-drug-word is illegal but children, I’m assuming, can still get it. Should all drugs be legal. Second thoughts… dont answer that.

The UK government is just too weak to go after Google. Tons of sin sites also don’t bow and ask for age verification*.

I am unsure how much of that kind of content imgur actually hosts ?
Not being a person into that kind of stuff myself it is not something I go looking for. But I cannot imagine it to be the platform for it.
There have been some aircraft modelling sites shut down as a result, and more besides. If this is not a hobby, your welcome to update me on the correct terminology?

In any case, this isn’t a UK issue either, it’s because imgur has deemed the picture to be too NSFW in nature and has pre-emptively blocked it, at least in some countries.
Trying to access the link from Germany, while being logged in to the site and having the “show mature content” checkbox ticked… it’s still not available.
Harmful content like WikiPedia.
Imagine if ISP had the ability to filter adult content. Oh wait, they do…
Anyone who thinks this is about child safety is kidding themselves. It’s about controlling what we can and can’t see. It’s outrageous and all this does is put people’s personal data at risk.
I have had to stop reposting images that are hosted on IMGUR because I simply cant’ see what I’m reposting xD. I don’t blame IMGUR for not wanting to bow to the UK governments stupid rules.
