Blood elves and Void elves

Funny story. I went to Goldshire with my Blood elf toon but stayed watching from a distance. A void elf walks over, and starts speaking. Strangely I understood what she said. I thought horde and alliance can’t understand each other, then I looked at the chat box and it says (Thalassian) so I realized Void elves speak the same language as the blood elves, making them the only race to be able to interact with a Horde character (specifically blood elves). I basically spoke to her and she translated to the others what I have said, which is basically “I come in peace to see your beautiful city”. Then we started dancing, we had the same exact dance. It was like meeting a sister from a different faction. I enjoyed chatting but a guard came my way so I had to fly away haha.

Edit: never mind, Void elves are not the only alliance race to understand A horde. I forgot about Pandarens and Demon hunters

Can’t dhs speak to each other?

I’m not sure to be honest

They share the [Demonic] language, so DHs could talk to each other be a Blood or a Night Elves

Now it makes me wonder if Pandarens can understand each other too, if that’s the case then my statement about Void elves being the only alliance race to understand a horde, is wrong.

The Pandaren, Demon Hunters, Blood-Void Elves can speak to their counterpart.

Forsaken could speak common in vanilla until the players showed… a lack of maturity shall we say?

This pattern repeated for most of the times they tried to implement cross faction talk (even during the vanilla beta), up until Legion, as cross-faction “pandachat” wasn’t added until Legion, sort of as a “if dh can do it why not pandaren?” thing.

I for one look forward to the day when I can /e to hordies the finger.

The funny thing is Elixir of Tongues was in the game code since… ages but was activated recently to understand the other faction’s common…
It broke a bit Arcane Linguist but they sadly hotfixed that…
Anyhow, with the elixir now everyone could understand everyone… as long as they both use the potion and use common

Of course, but there’s a certain convenience aspect to sharing languages.

Sadly its rare to meet someone from Silvermoon who willing to have a chitchat with a “traitor” :sob:

I would gladly chat Using my Blood elf toon. At the end of the day I consider Void elves our brothers from a different faction. And you guys aren’t traitors at all, you just chose a different faction which is okay because originally the alliance was our faction. But maybe I’m not the right person to be talking about this. I’m not patriotic when it comes to the horde and alliance
